i want to see old men with full beards learning ballet and i want to see terrible art from people in their 30s who have only just got their first tablet and i want to see mothers picking up their old hobbies from before they were told it wasn’t okay to have hobbies and i want to see people in their early 20s figuring out how to be alive by making bad music in their bedrooms and i want zines to be handmade paper pamphlets of devotion and i want creation to be fun again instead of a competition where we all have to monetise joy until we lose the invaluable currency of unashamed love again

i truly cannot comprehend couples that have vastly different political beliefs like it doesn't matter. our political beliefs are a balm that have helped keep my partner and i together for 13 years.

and i don't mean that on a surface level. i don't mean that because we vote for the same people, that resolves anything between us. but political beliefs are beliefs about the world, and people, and how we should treat each other, and how can that NOT factor into your personal relationships?

our belief that people deserve respect and autonomy means that we respect each other and encourage the other's autonomy. our belief in the abolition of police and prisons means that we don't punish each other for messing up, and we often use the tools we've learned in deescalation trainings during disagreements. our belief in disability justice means we make space for each other's limitations and boundaries. like. it's all connected. the personal is political, but the political is also inherently personal.

anyway. rip to "apolitical" people and all those in mixed-politic relationships but i could literally never.
