Shoutout to all girls working on loving their bodies. Your body is especially designed for you. Itās truly a unique masterpiece. Itās the home you grew up in. Nurture it. Honour it. Love it.
think twice before trustingāhoe tipā andĀ āglo upā posts!
Listen, Iām not calling out all of these posts, because some have amazing tips⦠But some have absolutely APPALLING skincare advice. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when reading those posts:
Donāt use lemon on your face! Itās irritating and makes your skin photosensitive.
Donāt use bicarb soda on your face! It ruins the pH of your skin, which is there to protect it from bacteria.
If you want to use Apple Cider Vinegar, please for the love of god dilute it a LOT
Witch hazel can seriously dry out your skin.
Essential oils like tea tree oil need to be diluted.
Donāt use things like salt, sugar, etc. to exfoliate your face. Donāt use anything natural to exfoliate your face. Itās harsh and causes micro-tears in your skin, which causes a lot of damage in the long run.
On that note, do NOT use the St Ives Apricot Scrub, there is a literal lawsuit because of how bad it is. I donāt care if itās helping your skin now, there are alternatives in the same price range that wonāt cause long-term damage.
You have to moisturise. Even if you have oily skin. If you donāt, your skin will over-compensate with MORE oil. There are oil-free moisturises at every price point, guys.
A lot of products from Lush are very harsh. So be careful and check the ingredients.
A lot of people will make these posts and tell you their magical ācuresā that helped their acne, and act like other people are idiots for using other things. Thatās also bullshit, because everyone is different and will have different things work for them.
Coconut oil clogs pores, be careful.
Coconut oil may also make your hair brittle and dry, do your research before using it to make sure itās appropriate for your hair type.
Cinnamon and other spices may burn your skin. You probably shouldnāt use them. But, they may not, so if you want to try them, make sure you patch test to make sure it doesnāt burn you.
Turmeric is good for your skin, but make sure you use good quality stuff. Some of it is dyed, which will in turn dye your skin. And nobody wants a bright yellow face.
When using any oil (coconut, olive, rosehip, etc) and things like honey, make sure itās 100% pure, raw, and as unrefined as possible.
A lot of the tips are usually for the OPās skin type. You probably have completely different skin. Remember that.
Okay thatās all I can think of right now. I love the girls who make these posts - like I said, they usually have a lot of great tips - but we need to remember that there is a lot of misleading information parading as scientific fact on the internet.
DO NOT USE JOHNSONS BABY OIL FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS
This is really how yāall be
you should never date someone for the sake of dating someone. you should be good friends, if not best friends with your partner. if you cant go to your partner for personal advice, if youre afraid to call your partner out on something, if you cant laugh and have fun with your partner, or if your conversations are only ever performative affection, you donāt have a good relationship
Stuck between overemotional and emotionless at the same time
