Lets start out by asking the question, what is marketing? Its a tool or department within a business to interest people about resources, products, and services that company offers. If a company does not market their product how do they conduct business? I guess they could do it the old fashion way and go to door to door but how many people really want to do that or need to do that? Not many. Why? WE HAVE TECHNOLOGY PEOPLE ! So how do companies reach their target audience using digital tools? Lets talk about it.
In reading an article published by Business 2 Community, Jomer Gregorio wrote the article Digital Marketing: How to Discover and Reach your Online Target Audience back in September 2018 to tell people why it is important to reach your audience and the steps on how to make sure you succeed. This is actually one of the most important steps a company should take as humans or most companies target market, so the company should put most of their effort into making sure this will be successful for them to generate revenue moving forward. In the recent Forbes Insights report, 43% of companies spend more than half of their budgets reaching specific targets, and 84% of companies expect their investment to increase over the years to come (Gregorio, 2018). According to the Forbes statistic Gregorio found, it is correct that most companies put the majority of their budget in to the marketing online and expect a higher audience volume as a result.
Lets talk about these five steps to successful uses of digital marketing. A company AND its marketing team must know what the business is all about as well as its products and services they are offering. Based on the products and services a company must recognize the type of market they want to target. Sometimes there is a certain target market for a company or there is a natural market where the market comes to the customer BUT as humans, we don’t know what we want or what there is until it is put in front of us.Technology can do this for us. Technology provides the perfect opportunity to fine-tune our offerings, enhance the way we serve our clients and find new ways to nurture the relationships between audiences and brands. It also provides us with incredible tools to tell richer stories and build more fantastic worlds (Cavanaugh, 2017). We are now in a world where technology is consuming our everyday lives and is literally at the tip of our fingers. Monitor the company website to figure out what type of device is being used when visiting the website to help develop a proper format that will be appropriate for those who are using a cell phone or an iPad. Once a company has figured out a format create a strategy on how to design the website or online tool that will reel consumers in. This can be influenced by seeing different designs from other websites or internal ideas from design marketers. Lastly, use social media. Using social media allows your customers to connect and interact with your business on a more personal level. If you already have an established brand, social media might be an opportunity to further develop your brand and give your business a voice (Business.gov, 2018). Social media has become such a popular tool for beings around the world. This is a simple way to get the companies brand out in the world and let the people do the rest. This can be done by gaining followers and having them share the company posts or people hash-tagging a specific product, service, or personal experience they had within the company. Create the strategy, design, and begin posting the ideas and see what happens.
This isn’t just relevant to what students learn in a specific week of school in a marketing class but is a basic overview of how business and real world marketing companies embrace the resources they have and engage in expanding their company through a digital world.
