Danny glared down at him from his spot in the air. <You’re one cruel dog. If it wasn’t at my expense, I’d definitely like you.>
Brendan huffed a laugh. <Heh. I like your attitude!>
<Wait, really?> Danny grinned, surprised and pleased. <Finally, I’ve found someone with taste! I’ll have to keep tabs on you, so we can meet again when we’re normal and I actually have arms again.>
<Sounds good,> Brendan smirked, as best he could with an Arcanine’s face. <Name’s Brendan.>
<Danny. Nice to meet ya. Although…> He smirked back, already wondering how he might be able to get back at Brendan for that video idea. <… Might want to watch your back for a while~>
Brendan actually barked a laugh at that. Literally barked. <Hah! I'll take that as a challenge.>
He doggy grinned up at the unsteadily floating Pumpkaboo. <May the best prankster win~>
"It happens. Still kind of odd but it happens," Brendan shrugged, after Viola asked her first question. He sat on his haunches as she continued, and was caught a bit off guard by her question. "…Uh, sure? I’ve never been pet so it’ll be interesting to see how it feels!"
Brendan wagged his tail.
"Yes!" she said in delight, pumping a fist before trotting up to the huge Pokemon. Arcanine was a solid foot taller than she was, though… "Ah, lean down a little!" she said, hopping a little to try and reach the top of his head. "Oh! I haven’t even asked your name. I’m Viola, but everyone calls me some nickname or other, so those are fine too."
"And at least it’s temporary! Then a situation like this just turns into some good fun and a nice story to tell later," she hummed, not seeming too worried now that she had some background info.
"Heh. I’m Brendan. Not really any nicknames, I’m afraid."
He flopped down on his belly. "That better? And yeah, it’s going pretty well - it actually helps that it’s happened to so many people; everyone knows what’s going on and we haven’t had many, uh, misunderstandings."
"Brendan, then!" Viola chirped, before looking delighted, her eyes lighting up as he flopped down so she could reach him. She started by ruffling the fur of his cheeks, cooing, "It’s so soooft! Ah, and warm too!" She then set to petting the top of his head and scratching behind his ears, having no reserve whatsoever. When was the last time she got to pet an Arcanine? (Er, even if it was technically a person, but.) "Fluffy~!"
Brendan found himself leaning into the scratches behind his ears without making a conscious effort to do so.
"Wow, that's really relaxing actually!"

Catherine’s eyes glow red as she strokes her majestic Fu-Manchu with an elegant, frilly fin. Power cackles through her scales as a dark aura surrounds her body.
In a deep, booming voice, she recites from memory a verse, a war cry, she once read in a book.
"Karp."
<And just that easily, on my behalf, I come around. Because I’m burning. The beast of War feeds only on the meats of War. And now I’m for carnage.>
The earth quakes as she catapults herself into the air, and like a meteor she returns to earth, all burning atmosphere and comet trails.

The words were being spoken by an Arcanine but were nonetheless understandable. Aura tricks to talk to your Pokemon apparently worked for talking to people when you were a Pokemon. Convenient.
Viola screeched in shock when she suddenly heard an Arcanine talk, falling right back onto the ground before she squeaked, “N-No way! How the heck can you talk and the others can’t? Warn a girl!”
She was huffing now, turning a bit red from having fallen so ungracefully, but she quickly scrambled up. “Ah… so… do you have any answers about this whole mess? My best friend’s currently bouncing around as a Pumpkaboo, so…” she asked next, her smile sheepish.
"Reasons. Long story," Brendan said, giving a doggy grin at Viola’s reaction. "And I wouldn’t worry too much. This is the most widespread stuff like this has ever been, but we’ve had random Pokemon transformation incidents before and they always go back to normal eventually."
His grin grew larger, tongue dangling slightly out of his mouth. "I advise you to get video. Stuff like this is usually hilarious."
"Long story, huh? So this is… a normal thing, in Kalos? I only just moved here recently, so…" she trailed off, dusting off her skirt, before laughing aloud at his suggestion. "Oh, you’re right! I should’ve gotten video earlier, my friend was stuck in a funny predicament… Ah, this’ll sound weird, but you’re super fluffy looking right now, so…!" She suddenly got an eager glint her her eyes and chirped, "Can I pet you?"

*licks forehead then blinks, looking startled* <Oh, woops. I think there are some instincts that came with being an Arcanine. You were just so adorable I couldn’t stop myself!>
< Hey, that’s no fair! Just because I’m poofier than the average Growlithe…>
*whines some more and licks back at the other’s nose* < Rude. >
<Half of me wants to snuggle you and the other half wants to play-wrestle, and I don’t know how much of that the Arcanine and how much is regular me.>
Brendan paused and looked at the indignant expression on the poofy Growlithe face. <…the snuggle part is winning because that’s not really helping reduce your adorable factor.>

Yeah okay that pretty much made up his mind. The poofiness was just irresistable. <That's it, snuggle time.>
Brendan reached over and picked Calme up by the scruff of his neck and carried him over to a comfortable looking spot, then plopped the Growlithe down and curled up around him.
