THINGS NEAR PLACES DEAR This collection of drawings, paintings and photographs comprise some of my most personal work to date. As the title of the show suggests, these are works which celebrate and investigate, in great detail, some of the everyday and familiar objects that surround me, the things near: my bottle of trusty Dr. Ph. Martin’s black ink, some of Kelly’s collection of vintage cameras and some door handles at my mum Kath’s house. The places dear are in some ways just as familiar but also hold their place in my memory as precious but fleeting experiences: The beautiful bushlands of Indigo Falls at Yackandandah - the area from where my Dad Mick grew up in the North East of Victoria, the organized clutter of my late uncle Leo’s shed in Mount Clear and the majestic serenity of the Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum Gardens. As a whole, these works are a document of times and places near and far, objects and memories, tangible and distant. Snapshots of things that are near and places I hold dear. ALL WELCOME to the exhibition opening on Saturday the 6th of September, 1-4pm. Ross Creek Gallery 183 Post Office Road Smythes Creek VIC
