Presentation Reflection
I enjoyed everyone’s presentations a lot. I think our class as a whole really grasped the idea of genre and remediation. I thoroughly enjoyed the presentations about larping and LGBT equality. First of all, the larping presentation was hilarious and I was sincerely hoping that someone would call and start inquiring about the activity. The LGBT equality presentation was extremely successful. The fact that the twitter account garnered over 100 followers was very impressive. The strategy of going to the human rights campaign and following their followers was genius. I didn’t even think to follow random supporters of the issue. I only thought to follow similar accounts. I never would have imagined that a school project could reach such an audience. The two people who did these topics both did a fantastic job and had very clean sleek presentations as well. There was nothing that wasn’t appealing about their layouts. All three of their genres had a good blend of art with text. None of the genres were just fluff information either. They were all very integral parts of the communities they analyzed. Also, in general I am glad to hear that people want to keep being active in what they researched. I know I want to stay up to date on my topic and I’m glad that these assignments did not end up being busy work. They really made an informed me on some aspects of communities.
The larping presentation was so entertaining!
Presentation Reflection
All of the presentations were great, and I was really impressed by my classmates! I thought Brandon’s presentation was the best because his PowerPoint was organized and intriguing. It was easy to follow, and he gave a lot of information about his project. He really put effort into his project, which was clear because he basically went viral. He had so many followers and views for each of his genres! It was cool to see him succeed.
I really liked how he made each of his genres because they were all neat and interesting. Even if I wasn’t in this class, I would still want to view his work! His genres all connected to each other, and his project was very effective.
Everyone did such a great job with Project 3, and it was really cool to see what my classmates are all passionate about! Happy Holidays everyone!
I agree that all the presentations I saw were great! Wish I could have been there today to see the rest of them!!!
I also really liked Brandon’s Presentation!
Presentation Reflection
All of the presentations throughout the week have been very entertaining to listen to and are all really well put together. This project was a very good way to wrap up the semester. Everything that we have learned this semester was all used in creating our final project. Every single person that presented did a great job with making their genres and promoting them. Brandon’s presentation stands out to me because of how big of a following he had. His project went viral because of how much support he had from his intended audience. His project definitely reached the right people to become that popular. Each one of his genres were neat and very appealing to the viewer which is very important for when you promote your work.
I also real enjoyed seeing all of the buzzfeed articles because I think that they are very entertaining and fun to read and look at on social media. I was going to make a buzzfeed but for some reason it had a tough time loading on my computer so I wasn’t able to create one.
But anyways, It has been a good semester thank you everyone for being a great ENC 2135 class and Happy Holidays to Everyone.
Ch. 10 BBG Reflection
When I first skimmed through the chapter I was in complete shock to what I was to find…a short chapter in the dreaded Bedford Book of Genres. I could not believe my eyes and then I became overjoyed with happiness. Anyway, the chapter was about Multi genre Projects which is interesting because that happens to be exactly what Project 3 is. This chapter will be very helpful to me when I get stuck on my project 3, I can reflect back to this chapter to keep me going in the right direction and hopefully to an A+. The main focus of this chapter is on the 5 steps to assembling a multi genre project. These 5 steps are:
1) Introduce Your Project and Provide Context. This is an overview/summary of your project around two paragraphs long.
2) Sequence Your Genre Pieces. This means to put each genre in order so that it make the most sense.
3) Title Your Project. This makes sense and should not have to be explained.
4) Create an Author’s or Artist’s Statement. Explain your rhetorical choices and to evaluate the project.
5) Package Your Project Creatively. Make the way the reader see your genre very creative and out there. Don't be boring!
Assembling a Multigenre Project
I think this may have been the shortest thing we’ve had to read. I don’t mind.
This chapter was pretty much about project three, it’s too bad all of my genres are done and now I’m just letting time pass while they circulate. This will be helpful when I try to label the things I’ve done cause right now I don’t know what to call them.
I really liked the breakdown of the different options of genres for the dog paper, makes me wish my project two was about dogs, not newspapers.
The book tells us that when we are breaking our projects down into genres, we have to consider a few things, like how we can ‘further out purpose’ how we reach our audience and what are modes and medias will be. Then it goes into the steps of a multigenre project, which are:
1. Introduce your project. This means you write something that lets your audience know what everything is all about, and give information that will help them understand what they see.
2. Put your pieces in an order that makes sense. The book gives the example where your project is on a problem/issue the first piece should be about the issue and the last part should be possible solutions.
3. Give your project a title. Seems pretty self explanatory to me.
4. Create your authors statement. This seems like the introduction to me
5. Deliver it creatively. Don’t just put it in a folder, be better than that
The length of this chapter was very enjoyable to find out!
Assembling a Multigenre Project
A multigenre project is a collection of three or more genre competitions built around a single topic…. hmmm this sounds a bit like project 3…
When thinking about the different possibilities of a multigenre project, you must consider the rhetorical situation. For example, if the audience you are trying to reach is a bunch of politicians, it may not be the best idea to use a tumblr blog as a genre. The book says we should think of each genre as a chapter that contributes to a whole. If your genre seems a little random to your topic, it may not be the best for you.
The steps to assembling a multigenre project should be:
1. Introduce your project and provide context (I think for our purposes, this will be the 1,000 word explanation of our project)
2. Sequence your genre pieces- i think this step will come in handy when making our presentation for the class, we will want to pick the order in a way that makes sense and builds to the general idea of our project.
3. Title your project- i think this is an important step a lot of people neglect
4. Create an Author’s or Artist’s Statement- explain why you made certain choices and why you conveyed your message in the way you did.
5. Package your project creatively- if you want people to care, you better make it interesting
The beginning of your post lays it out great. This is a great chapter for the project we are doing
i love the beginning of this post! It is great how funny memes can be.
Reflections for November 17th
The article “Analyzing Visual Rhetoric” gave a list of how to compose a document. It is basically a list of questions to ask yourself when composing a document of some kind to make sure it effective. This checklist will be very helpful to everyone doing their project three. It will let us know if our documents will be effective before we distribute them out into the world to see the society's reactions. This article sums up everything a document should have to be a success piece of writing. It talks about making sure the format of your document is the best format for your subject material. If the format for your document is not effective then the response you will receive from your readers is not the response that you would want to receive. The checklist asks the reader if there are specific statistics that would be better formatted into a graph, table or a chart. It ask if the images are the right size and if they are readable and effective to the reader. The checklist also asks if the colors that are used in the document are appropriate for the purpose and audience of your document or if there is too much color used.
The article “SFH Lay Out Pages” was about how to correctly format your writing so that it is not boring and hard to read. The article talks about how to best layout your information so the reader can fully understand it and enjoy reading it. The information in the article is not that important to students like me because we understand what a boring piece of writing looks like already. We have been asked to read so many boring pieces throughout school and we understand what makes them hard to read and boring. The article will be somewhat helpful to project three as a reminder to format each genre as well as I can. It is very important to format each piece of writing so that the reader can follow and enjoy reading it. If the reader doesn’t like the piece of writing than there isn’t really a point in distributing it into society because no one will want to read it. The article also talks about putting the most important information in the body of the page if writing a brochure and the less important material off to the side as notes. That is important because if the reader doesn’t read the whole thing they at least read the most important parts.
The article “SFH Images and Photos” was first of all hard to read because it was sideways so I had to flip the images so they could be read. But anyways the article was about how to use images in your projects and how the readers will react to the images in the project. The article says the a picture can be worth a thousand words, if used correctly it can be worth even more, if used incorrectly then it can be worth a lot less. This is important to project three because we can use pictures to convey things that we were going to say. There are many things that one can do to enhance the pictures effectiveness like cropping, filters, color enhancing or adding special effects to the picture. The article also talks about how different colors in a document create different moods for the reader. Brighter colors have a very bold effect towards the reader even when used sparingly. Bright red always gets attention because it is dominating over the other colors. Greens are often cheerful and they are usually associated with nature and having good health. Also the color yellow is very vibrant and attention getting when used correctly.
Reflections for 11/17 Class
I found these readings to be helpful for project three, especially because one of my genres is a fact sheet. Yesterday when I was in Strozier, I spent so long trying to figure out what fonts to use, how to format my document, how big to make my boxes, etc… I thought the first reading helped me find the answers to all of these questions. All of the picture and diagram examples made me realize how important it is to actually put thought into the layout of your genre.
For example, no one wants to read a document that is all words and no indents and a teeny tiny font. I learned the importance of indentations and spacing before reading this because I am a culprit of making my paragraphs really long. It can be intimidating looking at a documents that has no breaks… sometimes, us readers just need a break you know?
DBLTB (Don’t be like this book.)
I liked reading the difference between the serif and the sans serif fonts. it definitely made me reconsider the fonts I am using for my genres.
Make sure to make everything pretty! I know this sounds cliche but the reading stresses the importance of making documents appealing to the eye. Everything is a competition my friends!
Just like SFH Images and Photos says, a picture is a thousand words. Photos can help us at just a glance know aspects of our subjects that would require a lot of explaining if words were used. Adobe Photoshop, iPhoto, and Picture Man can all be used for editing photos. Copyright also comes into play with editing images, it is important to ethically change a picture. Images should be no larger than it absolutely needs to be for the reader to read and understand it. We can crop images, place images to wrap texts, color images, and modify images all to fit the needs of our genre. The biggest thing I learned from this reading is to select a color scheme that will best fit your writing situation.
I must say, it was very difficult for me to read Analyzing Visual Rhetoric on my computer which is really ironic because all of the readings are about making things easy for the audience.. LOL
When you pick a genre, think about the intended audience, genre, mode, medium, and accesibility… if your reader can’t find it… whats the point! Make sure your piece is organized in a way that will be easy to follow. Always have organization so your reader will believe your ethos.
On another note… WE ARE SO CLOSE TO CHRISTMAS WOW GUYS GET PUMPED. I DON’T CARE IF IT’S NOVEMBER
I agree with everything you said in your post, but especially the last part.
I agree with you so much about the tiny font. That book is my worst nightmare.
I like the gifs you added to your post, it makes reading journals a lot more interesting.
Readings for 11/17
I probably reacted the same way the other students did, I was like “Ugh, I really have to read three articles?? Like that is going to be a lot.” But then as I started reading I quickly realized it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be, the readings actually proved to be helpful. They turned out to be relevant and helpful for going into project three, the articles were about how to really design documents and the different medias, which that is all the project three really is, using media to target an audience. The articles really showed what needed to be done and what is important for creating our different medias. The par where it talks about breaking up the long paragraphs into something smaller with color and images to make it less boring and more interesting for the reader. I know personally for me I like looking at pictures instead of of long paragraphs of information that I think is pointless. Another point that I find really helpful from the reading was that you need reduce the clutter, you need to make sure the flow is simple and that anyone can understand it. This doesn’t mean you have to make it like a kindergartner project but you do not have to make some complicated project that only NASA scientists will understand.
I reacted the same way you did, I saw that there were 3 articles and I was not very happy.
Viral Marketing Journals
Wiki - Viral Marketing
This text was a very boring and dry wikipedia website on viral marketing. The wikipedia page defines viral marketing as a marketing technique that uses pre-existing social networking services to try to increase the awareness of a product or event. Viral Marketing can be by word of mouth, Through the internet, or even through mobile devices. The basics of viral marketing is that it is a way to promote certain things very strategically and effectively. Viral target marketing is based on three important principles: Social profile gathering, Proximity market analysis and Real-time keyword density analysis. When a company applies theses three principles to an advertising model, the company can find a match for targeted customers and can therefore market their product as cost efficiently as possible. With the growth of the use of social media the viral marketing in the world also grew enormously. Other than that I do not think I learned a lot from this article because it was annoying to read and it was not very clear and informative about what I was trying to learn about. I have never gotten a lot of good information from wikipedia, it is to dry and boring for me to get any useful information out of reading it.
Viral Marketing 101
This article was a lot more appealing to read than the wikipedia article because it was more clean cut and easy to follow than the wikipedia article. The main point of this article is that picking the right seeding for your creation to make sure that it spreads correctly and effectively. Even if your creation is the best creation in the world it will not do well with the correct viral marketing. When creating a campaign the biggest question to ask is “why would people want to spread this?” This question is very important because if people wouldn't want to spread the word of your creation then your creation will not be successful. In order for a creation to be successful it needs some of the qualities like:
1. Delivering humor
2. Giving someone an ego boost
3. Being incredibly useful (or resourceful)
4. Causing controversy
5. Playing on a meme
6. Being dramatic
7. Being provocative
8. Evoking a smile
9. Sparking emotional engagement of some sort.
Have one or more of these qualities in your creation make it more probable that people will spread and enjoy your creation which is what we all want when promoting something we have created.
15 of the Best Viral Marketing Campaigns
This website was very interesting and fun to read and watch. The websites gives real life examples of campaigns that went viral and how that they did. It defines them as a marketing blitz that creates a pitch that is cool enough for the consumers to spread it around on their own. Sometime campaign can be meant to go viral or sometimes they just end up going viral on their own. One of the examples that they give is the Old Spice Guy Commercials. Which was a very random campaign that went viral due to how funny the commercials were. I remember first seeing these commercials and I died laughing. The first thing I did after I saw the commercials was I google it and looked for more and watch more of them. Which is exactly what the viral marketers want people like me to do and I bought it hook, line and sinker. Another Example that they had was the campaign Will It Blend on Youtube. This campaign was started by a blender company showing off their high powered blenders blending expensive electronics. These videos went viral because it was a brand new idea and it was different than anything else on youtube at the time.
7 Tricks to Viral Marketing
This article is a very interesting list of tricks to help be successful at viral marketing. the list includes:
1. Make people feel something. In order for a creation to be successful it has to create some sort of emotion out of the viewer. Viral Marketing is one hundred percent about emotions.
2. Do something unexpected. In order to set your product apart from the rest of the products out there you have to do something that is catchy, new and different. That way people will remember your product and spread the word about it to other people they know.
3. Do not try to make ads (that suck). In order to be successful do not focus so much on the product, but rather focus more of the story.
4. Make sequels. When you have your audience hooked and wanting more, then give them what they want. Don’t settle with one accomplishment, You need to make more and provide the viewer with what he/she wants to see.
5. Allow sharing, downloading and embedding. Make your content very easy to spread and download and save.
6. Connect with comments. Make sure you connect with the people that follow and share your product through comments.
7. Never restrict access. Let people see what your trying to promote!
Viral Marketing, Meet Social Media
In this article they talk about how viral marketing has changed throughout the years. It started from being strictly by word of mouth but now in the modern days it has become all about online social media. Social media has now become the easiest and best way for viral marketers to reach the audience they want to reach. I can’t believe how hard it would have been to spread the word about something strictly by word of mouth. It honestly must have been nearly impossible to do and with crappy results. nowadays marketers can easily spread products or brands all throughout the internet with very low hassles and with great results. The article states that, “Like Pac-Man and Mrs. Pac-Man, social media and viral marketing have fallen in love and become one.” This statement really says it all, it is impossible to go on a popular internet website and not see an advertisement for some product or company. Social media has transformed into a vital tool for viral marketing and they use it to their advantage. This will be the new way for viral marketing and it will be this way for a while since social media is going anywhere very soon.
Viral Marketing
Wikipedia Article:
According to this reading viral marketing is a set of marketing techniques that use social media and technology to spread the word about a product. It has many forms including videos, graphics, text and even games.
To be totally honest, the section on how it works made no sense to me, I hope the other readings clear it up a little bit.
How viral something is is measured by metrics, which include things like view numbers, how clicks something has and even how many retweets something has.
If a company wants something to go viral, they have to appeal to the audience, make their ads shareable, put it on a popular website and most importantly make sure what they create is good quality.
The article then lists example, my favorite of which was the Will it Blend, I spent over an hour watching those videos once years ago.
Viral Marketing 101
This article is arguing the point that seeding is the most important part of a viral campaign. This is when you put your idea in all the right places where they will be seen by a lot of people.
But before you get to seeding, you have to make sure your idea will attract enough people. Things that will help it’s success are it being funny it being useful, it causing a stir or it touches on your emotions.
Once you’ve got the appeals then you get to seeding. This is putting your creation where it will be seen, like twitter, Reddit and social media. When it is seen by the right people, it will go viral.
15 Of the Best Viral Marketing Campaigns
This was a great resource because it shows the techniques I had just been reading about in action, and then describes why each of those ads went viral.
It seems like what most of them had in common was humor or they played on something people want, like money or free stuff.
I had never heard of Million Dollar Home Page, and I don’t really understand why something like would go viral. Also never seen that sheep video, but I loved it.
7 Tricks to Viral Marketing
The title of this article explains what it was all about, it’s 7 ways to get content to go viral.
The tricks are
1. get people to feel something, the can mean getting them really happy, angry or sad. Each way still gets people talking.
2. Do something unexpected, be original don’t do what every ad has done. I can;t help but think of the squatty potty unicorn, I see that thing everywhere now. Look it up if it somehow hasn’t invaded your social media yet.
3. Don’t make it an advertisement, show the people what they want to see, and make sure to show the item at least in passing. Like those bouncy balls? Got me intrigued
4. Continue the story since you’ve already got people interested.
5. Make it share-able, so that message spreads like fire.
6. Allow comments, get people talking about it.
7. Don’t restrict, allow anyone who want to see it to see it.
Viral Marketing, Meet Social Media
This article says that word out mouth buzz is a very powerful tool. It reiterates and gives examples of this throughout the article. It says social medi is the tool to getting something to go viral.
I liked how you really summed up the articles to their most simplest forms.
Blog: Viral Marketing
1) Wikipedia Article on Viral Marketing
This was the typical Wikipedia text, kind of boring. It said viral marketing is a marketing technique that uses pre-existing social networking serves to increase brand awareness or achieve other marketing objectives through self-replicating viral processes. Wow, that’s a mouthful. So the main point to get from that is, something spreads like a virus. Ads are paid by sponsor companies and are launched either on their own platform or on other social media websites. Viral marketing can take form as video clips, interactive flash games, advergames, ebooks, brandable software, text messages or web pages. The goal is to create viral messages that appeal to individuals with high social network potential. Messengers can be market mavens, social hubs and salespeople. It is important that the message that is being sent is memorable and sufficiently interesting. There are three principles that apply when using viral marketing, social profile gathering, proximity market analysis, real-time key word density analysis. . I didn’t really understand what viral marketing is after reading this text but after I went through the other texts, everything started making more sense to me.
2) Viral Marketing 101-Seeding your Company
Viral marketing is like seeding, you put your creation into the right mediums so that it gets picked up and distributed around the social web. There are certain things a campaign should do to be successful at viral marketing: 1) deliver humor, 2) give someone an ego boost, 3) be incredible useful, 4) cause controversy, 5) play on a meme, 6) be dramatic, 7) be provocative, 8) evoke a smile and 9) spark an emotional engagement of some sort. The goal is to appeal to the audience so they share it. When a viral campaign gets started, it usually uses already exciting communities as a leverage. You can say that viral marketing almost always follows a specific set of rules and if you have does down, the marketing will most likely be successful.
For me, this text was way more interesting and I started to understand what viral marketing is and how it is done.
3) 15 of the Viral Marketing Campaigns
This website was interesting because there were real examples of things that have gone viral. There are explanations provided on why these specific things went viral. A certain thing goes viral, when essentially a pitch or it is created which is cool and interesting enough that consumers will spread it on their own. Sometimes viral marketing is created and meant to go viral, other times it just happens on its own. I thought it was really interesting to see what kind of things have gone viral and why. Some things, I would have guessed that they would go viral. For example the Kobe Bryant jumps, Google mail and the Obama care were all things that I personally might have shared if it popped up on my Facebook wall or on my twitter. Other examples seemed weird to me and I was somewhat surprised that is went viral. For example “Will it blend?”, they a iPhone was put in a mixer to see if it would blend. I honestly don’t know why someone would share that, I probably wouldn’t but I guess it could be pretty funny to some people.
4) 7 Tricks to Viral Marketing
I thought this website/text was cool, because it gave you step-by-step instructions how to create a viral marketing campaign. . The main goal is to spend nothing and let fans do the work.
I mentioned earlier that one text said that viral marketing follows a specific set of rules and I am guessing these are the rules.
1) Make people feel something. You have to create very strong emotions because viral marketing is 100% about emotions.
2) Do something unexpected. People notice it when you do something different.
3) Do not try to make ads (that suck). It’s all about a good story and just add your product into the mix, but the product isn’t the most important thing.
4) Make sequels. Make extra movies similar in concept, make behind the scenes look, make bloopers, make a blog about the process and make extra materials. You never should let people standing with nothing.
5) Allow sharing, downloading and embedding. This is basically what viral marketing is all about.
6) Connect with comments. You have to accept all opinions because controversy is a major way of starting a viral marketing campaign.
7) Never restrict access. This kind of goes hand and hand with number 5). It is all about the campaign getting life on its own so it needs to be free.
5) Viral Marketing , Meet Social Media
Marketing through social media seems to be the big new form of viral marketing. Makes sense to me. I see all kinds of ads and videos on my twitter and facebook. I usually watch them but only share some. Usually I share the ones that convey a good message or are just hilarious to me.
The producers of “Mystery Science Theater” started the whole viral marketing thing in the 1990s. I have never heard of them but I guess they realized right away that their form of marketing was really successful. BMW also was one of the first companies to use viral marketing. They made a series of short films which people could watch if they signed up to their website. BMW had 2 million registrations to their website and over 4 years there were over 100 million views.
The author of this text compares viral marketing and social media to Pac-man and Mrs. Pac-man à they have fallen in love and become one. I thought that was a really sweet comparison.
Okay, when you are 12 years old and you see a guy blend glow sticks it just about blows your mind, I think that is why Will it Blend got so many views, and bunch of 12 year olds thinking that blending markers is cool.
I can’t believe how much we had to write for all these journals, it was a lot more work than I had expected to do.

Dogs, the beloved pets of mankind, which developed the title as “man’s best friend,” are not always treated as so. Dogs across the nation are being abused and mistreated and suffer for years with no escape. They have no voice and no ability to escape their tormentor and if they finally do, they will be unfit for behavior in the normal world due to the traumas of their early life. Throughout their lives, all they have learned is survival and fighting, as owners will beat them or use them to fight other dogs for entertainment and profit.
This issue is not one that can be easily fixed, as it falls in close alignment with domestic violence. According to Humansociety.org, “71 percent of domestic violence victims reported that their abuser also targeted their animal.” Although this issue is deep-rooted in many households, and often times will go unreported and unnoticed, there is actually a lot you can do to help these dogs. Since most animal violence cases occur inside of the household, they are unseen by most and go unnoticed. However, it is not hard to spot a dog who is being mistreated or beaten and when you receive that information, you should report it and seek help for the dog. You can also donate to animal shelters or adopt a dog that was rescued from an abusive house.
Composition Feedback
This piece seems to be an informative genre, due to the information that is given to help the reader understand the mistreatment of dogs. The purpose of this document is to inform people about how dogs get abused and mistreated, because he is telling the reader how dogs are abused. The rhetorical appeals used in this piece include pathos when he talks about dogs being “man’s best friend”, and logos because the piece is informative about what happens to dogs and how people can help. The writing style of this piece in informal but very close to being a formal piece. The tone of this document is very sad and makes the reader feel bad for the dogs and want to help. The voice in this document is a informative voice that wants to help abused dogs. The design elements of this text are that he informs the reader of what the problem is and he gives the reader the information that could be used to help the abused dogs. Research has informed this piece of writing because he uses a quote from and website that he used to research his topic.
Cats/Kittens are Superior
Puppies are not the best baby animal out there, there are many to choose from but the cutest baby animal is a kitten. Kittens no matter who you are will make you smile and laugh. They are the cutest creatures on this planet. Kittens are so lovable to everyone around them whether you like it or not. If I could have kittens all the time I would be I think they are adorable. I have to cats and when they were kittens it was such a great moment in my life because I was so happy to finally have a kitten. My cats are my world and I would never trade them in for another kitten but that would definitely be a hard decision because of how cute kittens are and how lovable they are. My cats are still lovable but they are nowhere near as playful as they used to be when they were young. Kittens are so playful when they grow up it is the cutest thing. No matter what toy you give them they chase and run after it. They are also not fully developed yet so they walk funny and they are very clumsy. I love to just watch them try to walk around or run because it is so cute to see how they try to maneuver around the house. I think the cutest part about a kitten is how small they are, and how they stay small for a long time. With a puppy they are really small at first but they grow up a lot faster into a young annoying overly playful dog in my opinion. With kittens they grow up slowly and when they become a cat they actually grow up and stop acting they way they used to. I like the personality of a cat better than that of a dog because I think they are more laid back and relaxed which is who I think of myself being. With a dog, you have to cater to their every demand and they are very needy. I don’t have enough energy to take care of a dog because they are so much work. You have to walk them, let them outside, always be feeding them, and they are always all over you. With a cat you can leave them at home, they don’t always bug you, you can just leave a food bowl on the ground, and you don’t have to always be letting them out.
Ch. 9 BBG Reflection
The topic of chapter nine was all about revising and remixing your work. This comes in especially handy as we are all trying to not only focus on the current project, but also go back and fix our mistakes on the last two so that we may improve our in-progress grades. In terms of revising, sometimes people, myself included, can be nervous to show what they are working on to others until they feel that their work is perfect. However, feedback from your teachers and peers is what helps make that project be the best it can be. It is important to ask those revising your drafts questions on how clearly you convey your purpose, how well you are reaching your audience, and what you might do better or differently. Remixing a project into different genres is exactly what we are doing for project three and so I was extremely happy to read this section. When you remix a composition, you repurpose it. It is important to pay attention to the purpose of the new, remixed composition as well as the new target audience. Consider rhetorical appeals to connect with them as well as what modes and media will be most successful in engaging the audience. This chapter helped clear up a lot and was perfectly timed with what we are doing in class, which always makes the reading easier.
This chapter helped me a lot to with the clarity of this project!
Chapter 9 BBG Reflection
Yah, this is really early.
The entire beginning of this chapter was quite predictable. I mean, I think we all know how to revise our work at this point. I know for my Project one and two I revised almost too much; using my own observations, the advice of a peer reviewer, the reading and writing center (more than once for just one paper), and yet another peer reviewer.

Gwen Ganow’s example was a good one, but it did not take long for me to get the point. By the way, my drafts look quite similar to her chopped up piece so now I don’t feel as bad about my writing process.
I think the most important part of this chapter – the part of the chapter I’m sure Ms. Bradley wanted us to really pay attention to – was the section on remixing your work into different genres. Can anyone say “Project two”? The checklist at the end of the chapter was really helpful; it is similar to what Ms. Bradley told us in class. We have to consider our purpose, audience, rhetorical appeals, modes, media, style, design, and even sources when re-mediating our work (psst, the “sources” part is Short Assignment 2… don’t forget to do it!).
Yah, I know. I felt like her when I saw Short Assignment 2 was due Tuesday.
I enjoyed your creativity, it makes this process so much more interesting
The gifs in this post made me very happy thank you for being creative!
