I'm a coloured girl, however not black. But my hair is similar where almost every day I try twist outs to manage it. I'm waiting for my hair to grow out so I can get box braids but I've been told in doing so I'd be appropriating African American culture. It isn't my intention to do so or offend anyone so I was really hoping for your opinion?

I want to know if I, a white female, were to get box braids, would that be offensive or be an appropriation of culture in any way?

I think they’re attractive and cool. I’ve seen pictures with them on both white and black girls but I also know that white girls have received flack about it. I don’t know a lot about it, and I just want to be informed.
