Plagiomatriona clavata
Clavate Tortoise Beetle
His little eyes make me laugh 😂 what a cute little bugger
I’m no ornithologist but this was an awesome hunt to witness!
Made some friends at lunch today 🥗🦢
While they may look small, our garden snails have nearly doubled in size! What a curious cutie 🐌
One of our Giant Canyon Isopods taking a pit stop for a snack of leaf 🍂
it’s getting weird knowing natural apocalypse from climate change is bearing down on us all and still going about mundane daily life kinda like
A little humor from the lab today 😉 we keep it classy here 👌🏼
Porcellio dilatatus
The Giant Canyon Isopod
My favorite crustacean out there: the Isopod!
Asbolus Verrucosus
The Blue Feigning Death Beetle
Tumblr, meet Lillith; Lillith can go 6 months without food or water and when she get’s spooked by a predator (or my hand) she goes belly up and plays dead!
Actias Luna
The Luna Moth
Family: Saturniidae
There’s something romantic about a luna moth under the light of a free standing miscrocope illuminators
Dolichovespula maculata
Bald-faced Hornet
It’s important to record these moments, calm, almost tender, with species normally characterized as aggressive and mean. This little lady (she is a queen!) will help keep pests at bay in our Innovation Food Forest and will leave us alone so long as no one comes along and bothers her nest. That being said, hornets have been known to be able to recognize attackers, so don’t bother this mama wasp!
Megasoma actaeon
Originally labeled Megasoma janus as that was the species classification in the early 1900’s, the last time this schmitt box was sorted!
Cincindela dorsalis
The Northeastern Beach Tiger Beetle
