Was dropping off some cat food at a friend's house and we found this little critter outside! They thought it was a stick bug, I thought it might be an American grass mantis. Help us solve the mystery?
Can someone help me ID these (they’re in Washington state btw)? I’ve been trying to for like 8-9 months, and this is the first time I’ve been able to get photos, so overjoyed about that-
my leading theory is that they’re juvenile Harpaphe haydeniana, but I can’t find images of those to compare them against, and they aren’t the exact shape of the adults so I’m not sure- and when I try and find images of them treating them as a separate species I can’t, but I need to know
Despite our user we are not very educated in the ways of the creature and bug tumblr we would like your help identifying this guy we found digging in our garden soil. It eats our plants. Our best guess is a crane fly but we are not sure.
my friend keeps taking pictures of bugs and asking me to identify them but he takes the worst fucking pictures ever and then when i ask him to take another one he just says the bug is gone

Can someone identify this bee/wasp looking thing that's at least half the size of my middle finger? It's quite chill and very pretty.
Also when it flies it sounds like a loudass helicopter.
