This innocent kid had a pen in his hand, was excited about his graduation and ended up dead just a few hours before it just because one of the cops thought Tommy had a knife in his hand, but it was a pen. He killed Tommy because of a FREAKING PEN. How do you justify that?
It’s also hard to watch his story not getting as much attention it deserves. He deserves justice and cops should pay for their brutality.

I’m sorry you think I’m lying, but I’m not. I qualified for the Medicaid expansion under the ACA, which is partially funded through taxpayer revenue. I don’t think the IRS mailed you a letter saying, “Nah nah nah nah naaaaaaah! This year’s tax dollars went to pay for medicine for poor people mwahahaha!” Who knows? Maybe YOUR portion of tax dollars went to a Hellfire missile that took out a village in Afghanistan. Ooh, how exciting for you!
Comfort yourself with that thought as I use my inhaler, which I would not have been able to afford without the ACA.

I’m Canadian and I don’t care that I pay extra taxes so a little boy in Alberta can have open heart surgery, or an elderly man in Nova Scotia can get the heart medication he desperately needs. It’s called taking care of your people. I’m glad I pay so that people can have a good quality of life. It’s called being a decent fucking human being.

After getting this medicine, I got back up on my feet and got a temp job, which then led to me getting a full time job I’ve had for three years. I haven’t been eligible for Medicaid since September of 2014. I have a great policy I purchased on the state exchange. I paid federal taxes in 2015 and 2016 gladly.
And now these spineless, heartless, greedy, craven, Nazi-humping shitheels want to take it away from all of us. Call your representatives. Make your voices heard. The repeal has already begun. But it’s still not too late.
I believe in paying taxes for the greater good. I want our citizens to be healthy. Why wouldn't one wish for another what one wants for oneself? Why should only a privileged few benefit, while others go without, get sick, and possibly die? Our country wasn't built on stinginess, but it will be destroyed by it.

I’m so happy for her and husband as they prepare to welcome their second child. She’s such an inspiration and I love what she stands for. Keeping her private life private - meaning her husband will not respond to questions about their pregnancy because as a couple they’ve decided together to not talk about their relationship.
That does not and should not mean Tony is the father of her children and she has a secret relationship with him! That’s totally disrespectful to both Tony and Kerry.

Anybody who watches Scandal has to “dumb it down” I like what the panel said about Mellie. All of S.2 is a testimonial to how Mellie Grant did dumb things and always had to be saved by someone else. Mellie’s daddy probably donated $$$$ to her college so she would pass with honors. I forgot Scandal is a comedy.

I get the part about each realizing their dreams. It seems he is saying following his dreams ment leaving the family unit. I agree - Jane is lovely and very smart. Both she and Tony are incredibly busy people, though, each of whom has his/her own career. As he said years ago in an interview, “Jane was as ambitious as I, and yet we were in sync." He obviously doesn’t favor milquetoasts, weak women, or lazy types. My guess is there is a lot of trust between Tony and Jane. Also, what kind of father would he be to his daughters, if he weren’t someone with integrity and devoid of superficial tastes?

I agree with Anonymous. Plus, isn’t it kinda refreshing that TG is not *that* kind of celeb? He loves his fans, sure, but he lets his wife be her own person, rather than forcing her to be something she’s not - he “sees” her (to use the language Rhimes is fond of inundating us with). That’s someone who’s comfortable with who he is - proven by letting his wife be who she is.

About Olivia’s abortion is problematic and just plain side eye worthy. I’m surprised at some of y'all a) seemingly conflating Olivia’s feelings or lack thereof about her abortion and breakup and b) having this idea that an abortion is ALWAYS traumatic, emotional, or any other type of negative feeling that you have in your head. As of late there has been a war on the right to abortion and in light of that many brave women have been open about their stories and have shared their feelings of relief and, dare I say, happiness in the fact that they knew they made the right decision.
Sometimes there doesn’t need to hand wringing or lots of thought going into it. Sometimes a woman can find out she’s pregnant one day and in less than a week’s time be done with the procedure (especially if said woman lives in a state without ridiculous restrictions and she has access to the process w/o limitations like money). To be clear, it could be the case that it begins to affect Liv later on, but whether that NEEDS to happen is not set in stone. For some women it’s not as deep as y'all are making it out to be – everyone is not the same – and they feel secure with their decision and they never second guess it.
And, before anyone says it, the above is completely separate from Liv not telling Fitz (selfish, perhaps, but well within her right – it’s her body), them playing Silent Night during the procedure (what type of mess?), this being a plot device (very likely – y'all know who y'all choose to continue to deal with), or the breakup.
Let me go back into my hole. I just felt the need to say this because this is a serious topic and some of y'all are doing TEW much. Y'all still need to get with the winning team, tho.
It seems to me that a popular anti-abortion argument is that women treat it as some inconsequential matter. I agree that there are women that are happy with the decision and there are others who always regret the decision. I still want women to make their choices, either way. But, it’s not unrealistic to expect a grown ass woman to think about it and weigh the consequences. I suppose that this was done to make Olivia look bad.
It’s not unrealistic but the point is for some women there is nothing to weigh, which is a nuance that I think a lot of people are missing (and not necessarily purposefully).
👆🏾👆🏾👆🏾👆🏾 As a 21 year old planning to go to grad school and med school, I quickly make the appointment, find a friend, and have the procedure done. I doubt I’d regret it or have some internal struggle, because I’d know it wasn’t time for me mentally, professionally, or personally to have a baby. It happens. It’s not the end of the world. No every woman developments attachments to an embryo. A woman’s life doesn’t have to be uprooted or emotionally distraught.
The rhetoric around this is very unsettling for me to read. When an abortion takes place in a way that’s medically safe and not against someone’s will there is no wrong or right way to do it or feel about it. So I challenge you all to think about how you’re framing this and the words you’re using to discuss it.
I’ve learned something new about myself through all of this discussion because I don’t think abortion should be a form of birth control. I don’t think it should be as simple as a drive-by procedure. I guess I’m not as pro-choice as I thought.
I have no problem with Olivia not showing emotion (although she does at a certain point in her argument with Fitz) about the abortion. I do think her about-face physical recovery is a bit unrealistic - not so much her seeking out the hooch that Mellie left behind but the energy with which she went about it, no less in high-heeled shoes. Maybe it depends on who does the termination - and it does look like she didn’t get it done at a PP office.
It’s almost like what happens on-screen sometimes doesn’t get addressed fully, or it’s forgotten, or just dropped. Did anyone notice that Liz’s back was totally free of scars? Like, no lingering marks from Huck’s torture were on her back.
