I ship Thorki because it isnât incestâthey are not biologically related. Itâs pseudo incest, but not incest. I donât want to hate or come off as rude or anything of that sort, but how can you say that âmorals donât apply to fictionâ? What about pedophilia? Rape? I think Thorki is completely justified and Iâm sorry but I feel like youâre kind of ruining its case by looping it in with other âproblematic shipsâ.
*takes a very deep breath*
I can say morals do not apply to fiction because they donât.
Have you read my addition after those words? Unless you believe fiction to be reality, morals do not apply there. They simply donât. Fiction is fiction, itâs not real and it has been like this since the very first fiction was created.
Yes, pedophilia and rape often appear in fiction. So does murder. So does cannibalism. So does incest. So does beastiality. So does every goddamn thing you can ever think of that is frowned upon or forbidden in reality.
All of these things are created with a purpose: entertain the reader. They are not real. Imagine the words âNo real people or animals were harmed in the creation of this workâ coming along with all kinds of fiction.
Iâm not ruining the ship, dear, I am stating the truth. Some might need to justify shipping Thorki by saying they are not blood related, but you know what? The vast majority of the shippers frankly does not give a damn about that. They ship Thorki despite it being incest and they do so because itâs simply how it is. They even ship it just because of it, because Thor and Lokiâs brotherly relationship is something incredibly deep and meaningful and strong. Itâs who they are. They cannot live without each other, they are codependant and they love each other more than they could ever love anyone else. And thatâs canon. Them being brothers literally defines them as characters.
You are doing something very devious here, anon. You are trying to put Thorki above other âproblematic shipsâ like Starker, for example, because âThey are not actually related! Itâs not incest, itâs not wrong to ship them!â. And that is what is ruining this case. You are taking the easy way out to make yourself feel better about shipping them.
Yes, itâs incest. Yes, we still ship it like that. Why? Because we know itâs not real, we know itâs just for entertainment and we donât want real life siblings to engage in sexual relationships just because of it.
I will say it again because this is really so, so important: Do not, under any circumstances, confuse a piece of fiction with reality. Enjoying something fictional does not prove you would ever condone this type of thing in the real world and implying that someone would do so is plain wrong.
You know what people should be concerned about instead of damning others over fictional ships that literally no one outside the internet gives a shit about? Actual pedophiles on tumblr, for example. There is a whole community out there who parades around and proudly gloats about the fact they are attracted to children - real life adults being sexually attracted to actual children.
But geez, I ship an incest ship and defend it⊠how wrong of me.
What a horrible world we live in where people are more concerned whether or not someone ships two fictional brothers or an 18 year old and a 50+ year old than about protecting actual children.
