               HER  AMUSED  CHUCKLE  WAS  HER  RESPONSE  TO  WHAT  BRIE  SAID  .  she  understood  what  she  meant  ,  brie  was  very  outgoing  so  alexis  knew  that  ‘  toning  it  down  ’ wasn’t  something  that  would  come  easy  to  the  blonde  .  smiling  ,  the  she-wolf  just  shook  her  head  .  “  i’m  sure  you’ll  do  great  !  ”  at  her  question  though  ,  alexis  thought  about  it  .  had  it  been  someone  else  to  ask  ,  alexis  wasn’t  sure  she’d  even  give  it  much  thought  .  but  it  wasn’t  someone  else  –-  so  alexis  really  did  think  it  over  .  “  sure  ,  why  not  ?  ”  she  moved  the  rest  of  her  stuff  and  turned  to  look  at  brie  better  .  “  what  do  you  need  me  to  do  ,  boss  ?  ”

“In reality I don’t think I’d be a very good boss,” Brielle admitted to the other with a soft laugh. “I’d get too emotionally involved and enthusiastic about everything. Or if I hated it, I wouldn’t have a filter you know?” she continued briefly with amusement and slightly masked melancholy. Brie was often happy with who she was, but there were occasions when she wished she were slightly more... normal. “But if you could go ahead and write down that information on a few more of these posters? Time, date, all the good stuff,” the blonde explained while she pointed. “We can add some glitter and puppy stickers – in moderation – after,” Brielle added with a smile.

A giddy expression drew across Noah’s face and he hopped up from his seat, calling Apollo to his side who followed with excited obedience also. “Do you want to walk him? I mean… only thing is he is pretty strong when he gets too enthusiastic and might pull a bit too much. I’m not saying you aren’t strong enough to take care of him but I mean I just…” He scratched his head a little trying to think of a better way to put it. “I’d just hate it if he hurt you.”

“That is really sweet of you to think of me, Noah,” she smiled at his brief confession. “I’m perfectly capable of walking him though. Don’t you remember the Great Dane we had at the shelter last spring? He was like a horse to me but I still managed to walk him about,” Brielle chuckled. “I won’t get hurt. And if I do, you can say I told you so. How’s that sound?”

“It’s a nickname. Short for Paul Jeffrey but please don’t call me that,” PJ explained. The girl was bright and bubbly and usually that was something that would annoy him but perhaps he was in a good mood today, “I guess I can call you Brie since I get the nickname too.”

At his confession Brielle’s eyebrows rose upwards before she made a zipping motion across her lips, “I won’t tell a soul.” If there’s anyone you could count on to keep her word especially when it came to keeping secrets, it was Brie. While she was often exploding with excitement and speaking without filter, she took things like that seriously. “PJ is nice though. Makes me think of pyjamas,” the blonde admitted with a little giggle. “Whatever feels right to you,” Brie told him.

“Not weird at all. Valid actually. I have read almost everything in here. Minus a few of the more boring documentaries or novels that hold no interest to me. Giving recommendations involve active listening, your tone and inflection when speaking on subjects you like will give away whats more interesting to you- even if its a subconscious bias. Body language, if you are excited and honestly interested, the body will naturally lean into the subject, withdrawn or leaning away tends to hint that the buyer is not interested.” Shrugging a bit, he motioned around. “I also tend to do this day in day out, which eventually leads to noticing patterns. I do occasionally get it wrong, but often times I can correct as I go.”

Brielle listened as the other expertly explained how he went about giving people such accurate and specific reading recommendations. “Wow,” was all she could say for a moment, taking it all in and trying her best to set some of that aside for her own reference. “Have you ever considered being a police detective or something? I feel like that sort of skill in analysis would be super helpful in that line of work,” Brie couldn’t help but say. “I trust your experience so I’ll definitely take all the books you mentioned on top of whatever I find in that section that piques my interest.”

Frida typed the girl’s name on her phone, nodding slightly. “All done. So, have there been any similar events recently? I do have a specific idea and I would hate to repeat something that someone already did.”

“I mean I can’t say art gallery openings are a daily occurrence here,” Brielle admitted, furrowing her brows as she visibly began to search through her memory to anything comparable. “I mean we see a lot of fundraisers or small businesses opening here and there but, nothing quite as lavish I’d say.”

A laugh escaped Christian at that and he he motioned with his head. “Stop worrying. It’s not like I had plans to meet anyone there. You’re fine. I’ll get you a coffee and you can go off to see your sister.”

While the offer sounded tempting, Brielle couldn’t just hop right on it without a second thought. She already felt like she was imposing herself on the other by following him around and now this. “Oh no– I couldn’t possibly ask that of you sir. You’re too kind.”

“Thanks, I appreciate that,” Miles said. He really doubted that his day was gonna get better but the sentiment was nice, “Are you getting coffee?”

“I really shouldn’t...” she admitted, “But I’m totally going to,” Brie then added with a big smile. “You? I mean... are you getting another one?” she asked with a laugh.

“We can always make more, Brie. Don’t worry about it,” Everett said smiling, “Well, you know, if they were, I’ve still got the werewolf strength. I think I’ll be alright.”

“Maybe. But I still hope it’s enough,” she sighed, cautiously stopping herself from gnawing at her bottom lip too much. “That must really come in handy, huh?” Brie chuckled at his response.

“Are you joking?” Rae asked the other, eyebrows raised at them. “You want me to do what now?”

“Are you telling me you’ve never clipped a dog’s nails before?” Brielle asked, despite knowing somewhere in the back of her mind it wasn’t common for most people. “Just make sure he keeps still so I don’t hurt him while I clip,” she then explained.

Bailey wasn’t even sure how she was supposed to be holding the animal, it was like one furry noodle or a slinky and she feared that if she moved her hand she’d end up dropping it and then her sister would probably cry. Something she really couldn’t handle. “I’m not sure staying still is much of a sign that something likes you, Bri.” Bailey explained, looking at the animals blank face. “Erm, I think I’ll pass. I’m not really a ferret pet type of girl.”

Brielle was a little upset that the two didn’t seem to click like she’d hoped, but the blonde nodded and took the ferret back. “It’s okay– I get it,” she nodded. “Do you ever think you’d want a pet?” Brie couldn’t help but wonder, letting the ferret perch itself back on her shoulders and around her neck. “And if so, what kind of animal do you think it would be?”

               EYEING  THE  POSTER  AGAIN  ,  ALEXIS  NODDED  .  she’d  stick  with  her  original  statement  ,  it  was  indeed  very  eye  catching  .  not  really  the  her  style  ,  but  still  eye  catching  nonetheless  .  the  female  wolf  was  more  into  simple  but  eye  catching  …  however  ,  the  poster  was  for  the animal  shelter  .  it  needed  to  catch  everyone’s  attention  …  with  all  the  bold  colours  and  glitter  ,  alexis  could  see it  doing  exactly  that  .  she  knew  it  was  best  to  not  actually  be  brutal  with  the  blond  ,  so  instead  she  asked  “  how  many  posters  do  you  need  ?  ”  she  glanced  back  to  meet  the  other’s  eye  .  “  because  this  is  fine  ,  or  will  be  once  you  finish  it  .  but  if  you  do  need  another  ,  i  would  recommend  trying  to  make  it  less  …  bold  .  ”  she  paused  ,  hoping  she  wasn’t  going  to  be  taken  wrong  .  “  that  way  you  have  an  even  contrast  .  ”

“I’m not the best at toning things down but– I promise to try,” the blonde admitted, but her expression remaining hopefully. “I get what you mean. It is a little bold,” Brie then added. While she struggled to hold herself back sometimes, she could still step back and be a little self aware at times. “The shelter might want to consider hiring someone properly qualified to make these posters but for the time being I’ll try to keep them bright, consistent– but not too overbearing. Want to help? Or are you busy? I totally get if you’re busy.”

“Why won’t she be happy with you?” He couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle, knowing what sisters could be like and wondering if the others sister was anything like his own. “I am a big fan of sugar, I mean I try not to indulge in it too often. That and my parents don’t allow me too, but when I do I can go crazy deep down the sugar hole.” Elliot commented, making the others drink and making sure there was a little bit extra for him to try out, he poured out the blondes first and then filled a little cup of his own. “I guess I’ll find out just how sweet your taste bud’s are- bottoms up.”

“I’m already hyperactive as it is, I certainly don’t need any more sugar. My sister won’t be happy when she realizes she has to deal with me like this,” Brie elaborated with a soft laugh. “You’ve got more self control than I do – very commendable,” she replied with another laugh and nod. She watched curiously as he poured her drink and also some for himself. “Well I hope you like it. I’d hate for you to try it only to be totally disappointed.”

“Exactly. I never understand how people can’t see that.” But then he had a habit of giving everyone a chance no matter what people thought. Noah liked to be able to come to his own conclusions instead of judging people. Sure that could come back to bite him but most of the time it had served him well in the past. “Brie… Like I wasn’t gonna ask you anyway. I thought we could maybe go get pastries or something. If you want.”

“I have to admit that I’m relieved to hear that. I’d probably cry if I didn’t come to mind, especially when walking this handsome boy,” Brie cooed at the dog and scratched him underneath the chin happily. “That sounds lovely, Noah! I’m super down for getting pastries as well.”

“I was heading to the Cool Beans Cafe. They do pretty good coffee there actually.” He explained. “What was it you were going to the square for again?” Christian questioned. 

“Ooh– a coffee sounds really good about now. Sorry! No– I’m not intruding on your plans,” Brielle had to tell herself aloud. “I’m meeting with my sister,” she then said with a little nod and a smile.

“Hm. I could suggest this new release- written by a vampire, its a tale of adventure with heavy features of angst and comfort. ‘Nigh of honor and grace’.” Reaching past the counter, he plucked the book from the display and held it out. “Half off, since we agree on animals and adventures.” He chirped- grinning as he let his chin rest in his palm. “Other than that, back wall is where you will want to be. The rest varies but most of the adventure is on the back wall, I don’t have animal fiction sorted so they are everywhere but I do have animal non-fiction on the far shelf, three sections down.”

Brielle took the book handed out to her, looking it over with interest bubbling over in her expression. At the price offer she looked to him with a slightly furrowed brow, “Are you sure? I couldn’t possibly–” Brie insisted, before the man plunged into another recommendation. “That is amazing, thank you!” she responded, excited to start scanning the spines for her next new reads. “This question’s a little weird but– have you ready every book in this store? How do you know how to recommend so precisely to everyone’s tastes?”

Everett looked at all the posters with her, “I think so. I mean you can always make more if need be,” He paused, “Do you want me to carry them?”

“You’re right. But I do really hope this is enough,” Brielle mentioned, chewing on her bottom lip nervously. “If you’d like, but they’re really not heavy or anything.”

Nova shrugged. “World war I maybe? II? The American Revolutionary War was pretty scary. That or my brother turning his humanity off.”

“Oh dear– those do sound like very scary things,” Brielle looked to the other with concern. “I’m sorry you saw both of those things.”
