I love how the cryptic-lightweaver relationship is essentially a little weirdo math nerd attaching themselves to the most extra theatre kid they can find and just following them around all day going “mmmmm interesting”
Wit and Jasnah This is the other art coming from the little art trade with Pekgna. Among their suggestions was to do something based on a J.C. Leyendecker painting and so we did. They actually have another lovely rendering of a Jasnah and Wit scene. Check it out ;)
Hoid is such a weird character if only for his apparent affinity for Roshar of all places in the Cosmere. If I were a worldhopper, "weekly hurricane planet stuck in the middle ages" is not necessarily where I'd want to be.
Hoid, wandering around Roshar for whatever reason.
Random Person: "Oh yeah, those crazy Lighteyes. They have a person who's job it is to just sit around and insult all the nobles. It's illegal to kill him, but he sure gets assassinated a lot."
Hoid: ...
Hoid: "My time has come."
Please take my random Stormlight memes while I wait for KOWT
Every time Hoid makes an appearance in a book, my brain immediately just thinks of this post
Just imagine being Adolin, the resident “normal dude” for a second throughout the books. Oh the crab people you were fighting ? Turns out they’re actually the native people of this world & also fucking your brother. Speaking of brothers, you have an extra one who you already have a homoerotic relationship with but that’s not that big of a deal. He’s also dead right now but he does that all the time so whatever. Your streak of bad luck with dating? Oh look you found the perfect magic wife good job. Just kidding she’s actually like 4 people & also stuck in cognitive purgatory. Also your dad is god, dead & also killed your mom but you got a message from your god-dad saying he was sorry right before he became your dead dad & honestly that’s all you really need. Also also you’re getting slutshamed by your sword, who is now your leg too.
& then you’re still just like “I’m the last normal guy in the age of the radiants”.
Brother.
And he is right.
I have 1 hour left on book 2. Here’s my thoughts on that.
(NO SPOILERS I WILL SHOOT)

early days
Shallan and Kaladin after falling into the chasms:
Kaladin, desperately trying to hide that he's a Surgebinder: So, uh looks like we both survived falling several hundred fell. Wow, how could that have happened, must have been a spren. Shallan, also desperately trying to hide that she's a Surgebinder: Yeah... totally. What a miracle, praise the Almighty. Both, internally: Thank the Heralds he/she believes that very obvious lie. I am truly a master of deception.
ive been bullied into putting the product of about 3 minutes of work here
I, for one, can't wait for Adolin to call a Herald "bridgeboy"
And for all the heralds to be like “HOW DARE YOU, HE IS A HERALD” and for kal to be like “nah we chill he pestered me into not committing suicide”
Look I think the heralds are the first to dismiss their own semi divinity. Ishar is the only one that ever was down for calling himself a god, and that was part of his insanity/from dipping into the well of odium. Adolin addressing Kaladin familiarly would probably make them envious but also glad for him.
It’s the Ardents that’ll be scandalized!
Everyone on Roshar during the timeskip:
Kaladin during the timeskip:
My boy deserves this
The stormlight archive has taught me that no matter what happens, people always have the choice to turn around and improve themselves. There is never somebody so far gone or set in their beliefs as to be irredeemable.
The stormlight fandom has taught me the above is true as long as you aren't causing any distress to Kaladin Stormblessed
Honestly my number one problem is an expectation of Kaladin helping those who have caused him distress become better people. Like if Moash wants to become a better person, find redemption, more power to him. He can leave Kaladin out of that journey. Bc redemption is not about earning forgiveness, it might result in that, but I doesn’t have to. Redemption is about owning up to mistakes, and being better.
The Bondsmith 3rd ideal is the essence of what redemption means:
“I will take responsibility for what I have done. If I must fall, I will rise each time a better man.”
Also I know Lirin is tagged in the post I’m rebloging and idk, he’s kinda a bad dad. I don’t hate him, except when he’s being a particularly bad dad the same way I don’t hate Dalinar, except when he’s actively being a bad dad. When listening to said scenes I’m going to be quietly satisfied that Lirin will probably occasionally wake in the night remembering that he never apologized for calling his depressed and ptsd riddled son a monster. Like they definitely are in much better place in WaT and I’m glad of that for Kaladin’s sake, but man RoW Lirin boils my blood and unless I’m very much mistaken he never actually addresses the “Monster” comment. Anyway I don’t think Lirin really needs redemption, he just needs to apologize to his son and work on how judgmental he can be. He’s not evil, but he can be cruel.
