Her face had become nothing short of a waterfall, the pent up emotions spanning across countless timelines had finally caught up to haunt her. Homura was being selfish, she wanted to stay in Madoka’s arms where she had felt a complete and utter sense of security. The rosette’s words pierced through the ravenette’s heart like icicles. Memories came flooding back to her. The two lying on the ground after Walpurgisnacht has perished. Then and there, Homura had asked Madoka that same exact question to which Madoka responded with a heartfelt sentiment on how life may be diseased with evil. yet there is always beauty shining behind that evil. The time warper’s insides heated up the moment Madoka’s lips pecked her forehead. Her face lit up a dull tint of red and right after, she pushed herself away from Madoka softly and looked her right in the eye.
Her crying stopped immediately and she wiped the tears on her face with her sleeve.
“No. I’m afraid I can’t allow that, Madoka... This world may be disgusting and riddled with evil, but deep within it lies brilliant beauty. There is still good in this world, Madoka. And... And I intend on protecting that good with my life... Someone very special to me taught me that, and I have kept that in mind ever since...”
Sturdy hands placed themselves onto the pinkette’s shoulder. Homura looked down at the reddish water that they stood atop of that had been pouring from the sky. Walpurgisnacht was upon them soon...
“I’ll stay with you until the very end, Kaname Madoka... The perils that lay ahead are nothing, I will face them and save you... I will save this cruel yet beautiful world...”
❀ ; - “Homura..” That name left Madoka’s lips countless times. It had been said over and over, in ways that only Homura knew. The rosette must have said it thousands of times in ways that she would never know... Situations she would never remember.. Madoka wanted to know. She wanted to know all the ways she had said it in joy, pleasure, anger, accusation..
It wasn’t fair.
Homura knew so much about the twin tailed girl. She had done so much for her, and had sacrificed everything. But here Madoka was, sitting selfishly, and holding onto the time warper for dear life. She wanted to experience every way she could say Homura’s name. She wanted to stay by her side until the end. She didn’t want Homura to repeat any longer.
As Homura pulled away from Madoka’s embrace, the waterworks emerged. Tears raced down the school girl’s cheeks, her hands balling up into tiny fists. Don’t leave me. Don’t let me go. You’re all I have. . The words repeated themselves in Madoka’s tangled mind, but never made their way out of her lips. A mixture of emotions bubbled inside of the rosette, resulting in the choked gasps and sobs that left her lips.
“It’s not fair!” Why? Why did Homura have to do this to herself? She must have loved Madoka so deep, so pure, to waste away her life on a seemingly impossible mission. Just hold me. Just let it go. Things happen for a reason. Just stay by my side.
“Homura! I don’t want you to suffer anymore!”
{01} —— Shinji hadn’t been in the girl’s vicinity for very long, nor had he noticed her until he heard a desperate whimper from nearby. Before him sat an anguished girl who appeared about his age, her blood-stained clothing presenting some sort of injury with a history of which Shinji was unsure. Benign or not, he felt obligated to at least be of some comfort to her.
“E-excuse me,” he stammered uncomfortably, doubting whether or not this was a good idea, “are you… are you okay? Do you need help?”
❀ ; - Madoka almost didn’t notice the soft voice that presented itself to her. The twin tailed girl was far too caught up in the blood that soaked her white uniform. Finally, she looked up at the owner of that voice, and mopped up any tears that had presented themselves on her cheeks with her sleeve.
“A-ah...” Really, Madoka could just use her Puella Magi abilities to heal herself, but she always managed to forget about those small things. It was too late now, regardless. Extending her hand to the boy, she gave him a weak smile. “Would you mind helping me up?”
“Yeah, I’ll be fine once I get my bearings.” Ib shook her head as she reoriented herself, slowly getting up.
❀ ; - Once the injured girl her gotten herself up, Madoka looked her over. “Do you need help getting anywhere? I’d hate to leave you alone like this!”
░ ▏ ♥ ▏ ░ - Even with the slightest change in demeanor, the devil’s interest was perked, a brow lifted as she noticed how her presence seemed to affect Madoka. That was more or less a signal that she was very close to overstaying her welcome, and began to set her anxiety into motion once again. She needed to get back to her barrier before her own efforts were placed in jeopardy.
That thought being in the back of her mind, she cursed herself for allowing it to even get this far. Her only justification was that it wouldn’t matter in the end anyway, enjoying what she could wasn’t too much to ask.
“ Ah, that works….” She pauses mid sentence, lifting the strap over bag over her shoulder and adjusting it.
“ I suppose I should be getting home. I have a few errands to run this evening. As for Sunday, you’re welcome to meet me at the center of town—-the park—if you’re aware of where that is.”
That way she wouldn’t have to travel but a few feet from the entrance of her barrier.
❀ ;- Madoka’s eyes followed Homura’s subtle, but graceful movements. She didn’t want her classmate to leave just yet... Not that the rose haired girl would ever vocalize her thoughts, of course. No, Homura would probably be scared off by how much Madoka wanted to spend time with her.
Actually, it even surprised Madoka a bit.
“Ah, alright. I should probably get going too..” It was a lie. Really, Madoka had no where to be. Hitomi had tea ceremony lessons, and Sayaka was with Kyoko.
“Sounds like a plan. I’ll message you tonight, that way we can decide on a time... Thank you, Homura, I’m looking forward to it!” The school girl couldn’t help the smile that spread danced across her delicate features, and the blush that tickled her cheeks.
Hearing Madoka offer her advice, Homura felt both a little better but also a little more frustrated. She wanted to be able to protect Madoka, but yet she was still so weak in comparison to both her and Mami. Upon the girl’s offer to walk her home, Homura sighed before nodding appreciatively with a small smile to her friend.
“I’d like that a lot…Thank you, Kaname-san.”
❀ ; - The rosette smiled up at her taller friend. She hoped that one day Homura would be able to feel better about her abilities as a Puella Magi. Her gift in time travel was... incredible. Madoka hadn’t been a Puella Magi for a long time, but even Mami said she’d never seen anything like it! Taking a step ahead, Madoka looked over at her bespectacled friend with a smile.
“You know the way, right?”
░ ▏ ♥ ▏ ░ - Without a word, an expectant hand extended to the demon’s short classmate. Once she received the phone, Homura took no time at all to put her cell number and name into Madoka’s phone. This was certainly more than she had ever originally planned to allow herself to give, but in the back of her mind she thought she might as well enjoy what she could while she still had control over things here.
Even so, it wasn’t like her powers were influencing Madoka’s feelings or actions.
“ Here.” A soft voice spoke as she returned what did not belong to her.
“ Feel free to call me anytime you see fit. I’m not usually busy so for the ice cream d— “
She stopped herself
“ —outing , you can choose whichever day best suits you. “
❀ ; - Madoka’s eyes widened slightly as Homura’s slender, pale fingers pulled the phone out of her hands. She didn’t expect Homura to be so blunt in her actions. The phone was returned not long after, and Madoka looked down at the hypnotic girl’s contact. Akuma Homura. Madoka didn’t know why, but there was a heaviness about that name. It weighted on Madoka’a heart like a ton of bricks. Her thumb gently slid over the coolness of the screen, as if she could somehow manage understand the mystery of her classmate though her name.
Homura’s voice broke the rosette from her trance.
“A-ah, neither am I...” She admitted, slipping her phone back into her bag. “How about this Sunday? If you’re not busy, of course!” Madoka wondered if it was strange of her to ask to see Homura in merely two days time. But she couldn’t help it. Homura was... hypnotic.
;~✺~;
—-Hearing Madoka just above her tears and cries, it broke her down to her core. Fear, happiness, despair, hope, and sadness filled her completely, and she broke down harder, and her cries grew, trying to hide her face in Madoka’s shoulder as her body shook so hard her bones rattled.
“ I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry
I DONT WANT TO BE ALONE ANYMORE.”
❀ ; - Madoka's voice was like a calming tide against Sayaka's rough seas. It was gentle and loving, a rush of tranquility. "You are not alone, Sayaka. You have never been alone. I've always been here for you, and will always be here for you. You'll never be alone." It was almost frightening, how mature Madoka could be. How calm she could stay amongst the onslaught of a blinding storm. Madoka Kaname was wise beyond her years.
“No matter what happens, you’ll never be alone.”
░ ▏ ♥ ▏ ░ - A soft exhale followed as the rosette denied wanting to take the book of her hands. That was fine, it was just like the girl to put others before her self, a trait she would attempt to mimic and fail at doing so. Reaching up, she readjusts the strap that held her bag to her body before taking a step closer to the girl.
It was quiet in the halls now, as school had been let out for the day and for the time being it almost seemed as if there was no one in the building but the two of them.
Subconscious powers the demon held could also ward off others for the sake of privacy as well.
“ Just as well.” She mused after a moment, lavender eyes seemed to deepen to a garnet hue before locking with rose ones.
“ I would certainly love to spend more one on one time with you. In fact, if its not too forward of me to ask…..would you be opposed to going out for dessert with me some time?”
Despite this being a pretty bad idea, as far as previous events went, the demon was still borne from her feelings for Madoka, and any chance she saw, she would take.
❀ ; - Joyful surprise filled Madoka’s once hollow bones when Homura agreed to the rosette’s silly suggestion. Even if Homura had just agreed to be kind, it still made Madoka happy. Fidgeting hands ceased to dance, and the school girls smiling eyes caught the other’s.
Madoka hadn’t realized the lack of students, nor the way Homura’s eyes changed from soft lavender to daring garnet. All attention was focused on the bubbling excitement and the demoness’s soft words.
“I would love to go out for dessert with you sometime, Homura! Thank you for inviting me!” How could their encounter get any better than this? Madoka had gotten what she wished for. It seemed as if the two would get to know each other even better over sweets and laughter.
The school girl was practically glowing. She hoped Homura didn’t think her strange for being so excited because of a simple book and sweets..
“O-oh, I should give you my cellphone number, that way you can message me whenever you’d like to go!” Small hands rummaged though the bad on her shoulder, trying to find her phone. Finally, they grasped it, and the rose haired girl flipped it open. “Would you like me to write the number down for you?”
