February is my birthday month, but more importantly it is National Eating Disorders Awareness month. Today, for the first time, I am letting go of my shame surrounding my eating disorder. And yes, posting this is hard as hell. My goal this month is take my recovery day by day, minute by minute, and help spread awareness and education to a disease that is not often spoken about. Annual kids Christmas present #kernsfamilychristmas

Every Christmas Eve, each person (and pet) in my family gets to open one gift. Opening my present tonight, a tiny box wrapped in one direction paper, I saw these four little words, and they meant more to me than ever before. Nine months ago my life changed forever, and I couldn't be more thankful to have two wonderful parents who have been there every step of the way. Through every up and down, every struggle, every step backwards and every step forwards, my forever mommy and daddy have supported me, no matter what. From letting my cry in their arms, to taking off work to be with me, to putting up with my disaster of a room (sorry daddy), I couldn't ask for anything more! I am so happy to have this little reminder that they are proud of me everyday, no matter what. I am so thankful for this bracelet, but even more thankful to have my parents support as I continue on my journey! I love you both so much! 👨‍👩‍👧❤️🎄🎁
