Why the hell was Klaus even sure that his brother, who fell out of the portal in the backyard, had money!?
Probably an old routine of Five paying Klaus to do stuff when they were kids which Five just continues the illusion because its useful.
The tow truck driver saying Five asked for directions to a department store... You'd think he'd ask for directions to something related to the apocalypse and his mission, but he was looking for Delores. In the time since he's been back in 2019, he mentioned her at least 3 times (to his family off-hand, to Viktor indirectly, and to Klaus, even telling him her name and how long they'd been together). Five was really missing his wife 💔
He's been physically without her since he went to the Commission.
And when he lands in 2019, he sees his family, the people he's most excited/frightened to see and she's not there. He holds her in the same regard as his family and now he's back, he was always going to go and find her.
Five pouring out half a cup of...whiskey? or whatever is crazy. I guess it shows us what his drinking habits were like in the apocalypse.
Has the coffee. Asks Viktor for something a little stronger. Viktor gets him it despite Five looking like a kid, which he subsequently questions. Five downs what he us given before going on to pour himself a very large drink when Viktor questions what Five is saying.
Oh, Five had his first breakdown in the apocalypse :3
He was overcome by a wave of uncontrollable fear, which caused his power to fail. I think all the Marigold children's powers respond to their emotions. Five can't teleport when he's scared, while Viktor is sad and it's raining.

I think a fandom becomes more interesting when people are allowed to explore uncomfortable ideas instead of pretending they don't exist

The Umbrella Academy - Season One, Episode Two - Run Boy Run - TUAMRE
An iconic episode. We've met the characters and here comes the plot proper. Some lovely character building moments, even if its family not getting on/not understanding each other.
Comments/Honourable mentions:
- Five's flare up at the dinner table and appearing in the apocalypse. The iconic Run Boy Run scene. Five falling to his knees in front of the Academy always just gets me.
- Hazel and Cha Cha's badass introduction, quickly undercuy by the Commission's cost cutting and the heavy suitcase
- Hazel eating ice cream at the Griddy's crime scene
- Allison calling Luther Claire's very own superhero
- Klaus's little flashback chucking Reg's journal so we know what he's been up to - the music is so Klaus
- The 1938 cold case prints - would love to find out what the Commission job this was for.
- Poor Syd 😢
- Hazel's continued preoccupation on food - Tuna but no mayo. Italian for dinner?
- Allison saying she would die to make sure Claire was safe and happy...uh oh...
- Five speaking about Dolores to Klaus and deciding he needs to go and find her
- The saga of Mr Puddles and Mrs Kowalski
- Diego's little hair trip wire at the door to his boiler room
- Viktor teaching Leonard to play the violin. All praise to music teachers. You put up with a lot.
- The surveillance tapes - 'I'm going to ask dad about time travel' - I need a full transcript of all the conversations that we hear brief snippets of in the videos.
- The kids running around the Academy in the surveillance tapes.
- Gimbel Brothers having a Seniors Tuesdays sign as Five walks by. Nice touch.
- The whole sequence of Five seeing Dolores for the first time. Five's genuine smile. One of my favourite sequences. I fully believe in their relationship and their connection.
- Dont Stop Me Now sequence. Iconic. The comic book separation and editing style of this sequence.
- Five caught in the light of Hazel and Cha Cha's guns. He's been caught and just manages to get away. The shot of him, shaking and clutching Dolores - just one of my most devastating images of the entire show.
- Five finding his family. Oh this is why it matters so much to him Shaking Diego. Seeing Klaus's tattoo. Gut punch.
