LONELINESS/SOLITUDE/DEPRESSION
In our everyday lives, chances are you or someone you know has been struggling with loneliness. It’s definite that everyone feels this way sometimes mainly due to breakups with a friend or lover when we move to a new place when we are excluded from a social gathering. It’s a result of inadequate social connections. Human beings are social animals and that means we have a fundamental need for inclusion in life and for close relationships. The easiness with geographical mobility has made people live far apart from friends and family and as we celebrate the new models of working and communication, they have only increased flexibility but reduced the opportunities for in-person interactions and relationships. In this context, I will look more on the influence of the geographical mobility and its influence on cultural difference resulting in loneliness.
The most common symptoms of loneliness include loss of interest in daily activities, changes in appetite and weight, anger and irritability and the feeling of helplessness and hopelessness. “Loneliness and weak social connections are associated with a reduction in lifespan similar to that caused by smoking 15 cigarettes a day and even greater than that associated with obesity”. V. Murphy (V Murphy; Work and the Loneliness Epidemic). Other implications of loneliness high blood pressure because of eroded arteries, destabilized learning and memory, destroyed quality and efficiency of sleep but also increases the risk of suicide for young and old. At work, loneliness reduces task performance, limits creativity, and impairs other aspects of executive function such as reasoning and decision making.
With these in mind, it is imperative that we address the loneliness epidemic quickly.
Saying so, I am looking forward to capturing these daily situations in photographs. I will integrate darkroom techniques as well as long exposures. These will account for around 25% of my images while the remaining 75% will present situations outside the dark room. I have sorted down my ideas based on sceneries. These will determine situations that I want to capture with my digital camera. These are listed in a separate document.

PHOTOGRAPHY CHANGES EVERYTHING
Photography has not only been seen as an activity, it has become more interesting to more people as a practice. People post, share on social media how they do, photos about their day, exciting moments, sad moments, friends birthdays. Photography is active.
But what’s photography? What makes a good photograph? There has been a series of debates on what actually photography is. Different have defined photography based on their contexts. This is because apart from it being a shared language, it’s subject to rules, specific criteria and expectations that vary from one context and field to another.
Marvin Heiferman an American curator tells us that instead of spending time figuring out what makes photographs good, we should rather spend time figuring out how photographs do their work. In his writing Photography changes everything, he creates an opportunity to explore the medium’s active role in our lives and the world.
Photographs are still made in record numbers with estimates of around 1.3 billion new photographs daily, close to ½ a trillion every year. Not only have these photographs show things, but they have also engaged us emotionally, intellectually, neurologically, viscerally, visually just to mention a few. They have been able to affect us in a number of ways, exciting or calming us, solving as well as creating problems, empowering and at times demeaning us and has fostered empathy within us as well.
Playing a pivotal role in our quests, photography as a medium comes in categories that ultimately changes what we want, what we see, what we are, what we do, where we go and also changed what we remember.
The fact that photography evolves, so are the ways we engage with and talk about the media, a lot has been changing and these changes have influenced the impacts of photographs.

Thanks for coming!
Ross Lowel: Matters of Light and Depth.
· One of the best ways to conquer light fright in photography is to mentally break down the subject, the set, and the scene into series of planes.
· The type of natural or artificial source you choose depends on a delicate balance of the subject, mood, working space, level of light required and amperage available. But most often, it depends on what handy equipment is available and whether the sun is shining in the direction on the day you want to shoot.
· To improve shadow quality in photography,
i. Move the light away from the person or object
ii. Set focusing lights at full flood
iii. Put a small glass diffuser close to the front of a lens-less focusing source
iv. Substitute a Fresnel for a senseless source
v. Use only the edge of a hard light
a. How do you deal with lighting, reflections, refractions when shooting objects outside during a rainy day?
b. How can you illuminate very fast moving objects?
c. How do you deal with shooting a single object with different behaviors of light?
If you're not making mistakes, you're not taking risks, and that means you're not going anywhere. The key is to make mistakes faster than the competition, so you have more chances to learn and win

Life is like Photography, we develop from the Negatives.
I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.format_quote
