Thank goodness testing your luck with strangers in a public place wasn't ending badly for you so far, every possibility of getting injured or killed constantly at the forefront of your mind any time you leave the house and try to 'reach out' on little escapades like this. You try your best to find friendly folk, and thankfully this person seemed to fit the bill just with their (? you're never one to assume genders, of course) responsiveness.
This person asks you a question, sparking you up with thought as you grew nervous again, fretting over how heavy those bags were starting to look in the guy's in arms, a little frown emerging upon your lips.
"Well, I mean, that would be nice, yes," you admit briskly, eyes immediately drifting away and glancing to the side nervously, trailing over the walkway you both stood upon. Fog is forming in the air from the chill and yet you seem reluctant to even admit you need the help. You consider taking everything back entirely and turning around, leaving this poor person back to one's own business.
"I'm sorry...this is probably- I don't mean to bother you." Your teeth clench your lower lip as you start to panic, swallowing to try and ease the dry sand feeling in your throat.
"I can try to find somewhere else and I'll get out of your hair, if you'd prefer that."
