“Fascinating. I’d hate to interrupt, but I need another drink if I’m going to keep listening to you.”

“Oh, I’m finished. It’s your turn now.” He said as he picked up his glass of scotch of the bar, taking a sip as he looked at the girl.

Venue viewings have never been much of the blonde’s preferred task and they weren’t even obligatory for her to begin with. If she wasn’t so awfully obsessed with controlling everything she could’ve just stayed in the office, wait it out and then and ask for the opinion. However, she was awfully obsessed with controlling everything and so morning found her outside with a group of associates, standing somewhere far from the crew and more or less overseeing the process as they scooped the area to work out the technical details. Really, for an outside viewer it was likely hard to tell that she was there doing something to being with, rather than just standing there poking at her phone screen and occasionally staring at the men walking around like a bunch of idiots. Perhaps that was the reason why some random guy had decided to initiate a conversation while having a good cigarette.

Léa looked up and over at the man, scanning him from head to toe with a neutral look on her face. She reminded herself that chatting wasn’t her job, she had to focus on her people and the project but it was just… so… boring. She’d rather talk to same random stranger than watch another guy trip in a root or something. “If you’re gonna small talk about the weather…“ She started, her velvety tone and delicate speech spiced with the slight French accent, now ringing more pronounced due to her frustration. “…at least make it more interesting.“ Then she nodded her head at his hand holding a cigarette, remembering how she didn’t get to stop for a pack on her way there. “You got one more of those? Nicotine, that would butter me up.“

Brodie raised a brow at the girls response, the cigarette hanging off his lips before he took it back in his fingers and blew out in the other direction “Small talk isn’t my forte, So don’t expect too much from me.” He chuckled, nodding his head as he pulled out his pack and lighter, offering it out to her. “It’s one of my favourite times of the day. There’s nothing more I look forward to then my walk and smoke.” He said, letting out a happy sigh.

“Ugh,” Alexa groaned out softly, clenching onto her purse as the thought of another storm rung through her head. “I can’t wait until summer. It’s not supposed to be too hot this year.”

“Neither can I,” He chuckled as he glanced over at the blonde “A summer with mild temperatures? That’s something I can enjoy. Hopefully I’ll have time to actually do things this summer.”

Max chuckled, “I know I was stoned for my driver’s test. I didn’t realize until I was older how many others were too,” she said with a smirk, looking over at the man. “Brodie. That’s cute. I’m Max.”

He shook his head with a sigh “Well that explains why it sucks driving to work.” He let out a chuckle at the girls words, shrugging. “Thanks, pleasure to meet you, Max.”

“I didn’t, it’s the very end of my lunch right now.”

“But it feels like I was waiting in line for 20 minutes…”

“Is your boss really gonna get mad at you for going a bit over your lunch break?”

Alexa nodded, smiling at the person to the right of her. “Yeah, I prefer not freezing my ass off. Hopefully it stays this way.” She said, shrugging and zipping her jacket up.

“Of course it won’t though. Mother Nature is a cruel, cruel mistress. We’ll probably get another storm soon enough.” He muttered, as he took another drag from his cigarette.

“SO, I don’t know whether it’s the ganja or what but you are so goddamn attractive, I think. Like I said, it could be the weed.”

“I think It’s just my natural good looks.”

“Thanks,” Max took one of the cigarettes, placing it between her red lips before lighting it, returning the lighter. “Not exactly. This is my second winter here, though. And I’ve found that I can usually walk somewhere in six-inch heels quicker than I can make it in my car.”

He put the pack back in his pocket, glancing at the girl as she spoke, taking a small drag from his cigarette before nodding his head and blowing out. “Sometime’s I really question how people managed to get their drivers license. It’s like they forgot how to drive.” He muttered with a sigh “I’m Brodie, By the way.”

“If you’d call a bunch of shit-colored snowbanks ‘better’, I guess. I kinda liked when it was snowing and you couldn’t see how gross Manhattan is,” Max shrugged, her distaste for the cold weather exposing the Australian in her even more than her accent. “Can I bum one of those?”

“While that is true -- I have a lot more fun when I can actually drive on the roads.” He muttered with a shrug “But I take it you’re not from here,” Brodie pulled out his pack and lighter, offering it to the girl

Brodie took a drag from his cigarette in blew in the direction of the wind, not wanting to disturb the people around him. “At least the weather is starting to get a little better..” He said, trying to make small talk with the person next to him.

“That’s looking like the best option at this point. A sense of direction in life would be nice too, but I guess that’s what drugs are for.”

“What kind of drugs are we talking here?”

“Don’t really have much of a choice in this economy.”

“...Maybe you need a room mate?”

“Exactly! Why can’t movie theaters understand that all we want to do is have a good time and not feel like we’re ripping our wallets apart for twenty full minutes of commercials and movie trailers?”

“You know what we should do? I’m saying we go on strike. Get some pickets going, maybe boycott the next movie coming. We gotta fight for our cause!”

“I live for nights where I bundle up with a big blanket and watch The Breakfast Club for the millionth time. Thankfully, tonight is one of those nights.”

“Is it still on Netflix? My free trial ended and I’ve been way too lazy to re-up.”

“Don’t you just love it when the cafe get’s your order wrong, but you’re only allowed 20 minutes for lunch and there isn’t time to get a new drink?”

“Who spends 20 minutes getting a drink?”

“I agree. All I want is to bury myself in a bucket of popcorn and enjoy the movie. Not ugly commercials.”

“Right? I mean with popcorn being the price that it is, there shouldn’t be commercials.”
