Feeling her eyes welling with tears, Max looked up at Lexia. She wanted so badly to understand but there was obviously a lot that her girlfriend wasn't telling her. But without a word, she got up, stopping for a moment as she decided not to kiss Lexia goodnight. "Okay..." she whispered, heading back up to the bedroom. And as soon as she shut the door, Max broke down in tears and collapsed onto the bed, curling up and trying not to think of the pain her lover was in.

Max’s throat closed when Lexia pulled away, immediately retracting her hands and grasping her own shirt to keep them from reaching for her girlfriend. Without a word, she scrambled up from the floor and ran to the kitchen, grabbing a large hand towel and a bottle of chilled vodka, not even daring to suggest that liquor might not be the best for the moment. “Here,” she said, carefully putting the things in Lexia’s hands before sitting on the floor, scooting away a little and pulling her knees to her chest, giving her girlfriend space as she waited for what to do next.
Lexia wasn’t sure why the tears hadn’t stopped yet, pushing herself to sit up and unable to contain the noises of pain as she did so. Carefully unscrewing the bottle, every movement was slow and methodically, lifting the bottle and taste the alcohol. The cut on her lip stung and thankfully that was all she needed to help put some sense back into her. “I’m sorry. Everything just…hurts.” She muttered, dabbing away any blood that didn’t require any wet cloth at the moment. “Go back to bed. I didn’t mean to wake you.”
Max watched, clenching her teeth as she quickly wiped her own tears away. She'd never seen Lexia in this kind of pain and she honestly didn't know how to emotionally handle it. Nothing in her power could make it better, especially if Lexia didn't even want her near her. Max shook her head. "I'm not going anywhere," she said firmly. "Not until you can come with me."

Max’s mind blanked, trying to remember if Lexia had told her or not that she started fighting again. And even then, she was suspicious. Lexia never lost fights. There was no such thing as her head not being in it. But it wasn’t the time to ask those questions, not yet. When her girlfriend lied on the couch, Max kneeled beside her, her own eyes welling up as she wiped away Lexia’s tears as gently as she possibly could, pecking her cheek. “What do I do? Tell me what to do, baby. I’ll do anything..”
“Vodka. And a towel.” She whispered, pulling her head away from Max’s gentle touches simply because it hurt that much. All she wanted right now was to feel some semblance of clean and to be numb. So so numb. With all the confusion she was feeling, seeing Max didn’t make it better. Her heart was racing, reminding her she was alive, all because Max was near her, making her want to live. All the while, her brain felt dead, not wanting to recognize such feelings that the younger girl was stirring inside of her. Savannah told her that they were terrible things to feel.

Hearing Max’s voice made her realize that she was not alone. And when she came closer, Lexia had flinched instinctively, no thanks to the brutal beating she just survived. “My head wasn’t…in the fight.” She rasped, shuffling towards the couch and gingerly laying down. Once completely down, she let out a low whine of pain, feeling her entire body ache and finding it hard to breath. As a result, the tears pooled in her eyes spilled over and she wished she was alone in that very moment.

Savannah didn’t bother bandaging Lexia up after she was done beating her. Surely a message of some sort. All Lexia wanted was to go home, crawl into bed and lick her wounds. She was shaken to the core at the words that were beaten into her head. Everything is for La Familia. She was confused and tired, not even thinking that Max would be there waiting for her. So when she unlocked the door and shuffled in, wincing with every breath she took, she paid no attention to anything but wanting to crawl into bed and sleep away the aching in her body.
It was a night like most nights; Max was dozing off in bed while she waited for Lexia to get home. Now that she was back at school and work, her days were filled and by the time she got back at night, she was exhausted. So exhausted that she didn’t even notice how late it was when Lexia finally came in. Being rustled from her sleep from her girlfriend’s lack of grace downstairs, she squinted at the clock with confusion before getting out of bed to make sure everything was okay. “Baby, it’s so late. Where’ve you been?” she asked as she walked out of the bedroom and down the stairs. But the first real look she got of Lexia had her gasping hard, feeling her heart nearly jump out of her mouth. “Oh my god!!” she exclaimed, rushing over to her girlfriend’s side. “What happened?? Who did this to you?!”
You know, with cotton candy and lots of balloons and marching bands and dancers and, yeah, a big deal.

Lexia hummed softly, enjoying the slowness of their kisses and gladly holding Max’s hands. “And where do you have in mind? Back to the cabin?” She asked softly, eyes closed for a second before she looked at Max adoringly.
At the suggestion, Max looked down at Lexia and smiled before nodding. “Yes, that’s exactly where I wanna go. Once all the leaves are back on the trees..” she said, kissing her girlfriend’s chest down to the valley between her breasts. “I miss that hot tub...”

“That sounds like a challenge to me.” Lexia arched a brow at those words before smiling. “But I am in no rush to prove you wrong. I got a long while for that.” She muttered, turning to kiss Max’s palm and then her wrist.
“Mm, yes please..” Max smiled, rolling on top of Lexia and kissing her slow, taking both of her hands and intertwining their fingers. “Take all the time you want. I’m all yours.” She nudged her nose against her girlfriend’s, “I wanna go away with you again soon..”

“With how dominant you get, it’ll be totally your fault if it ever slips out..” Max chuckled, humming against Lexia’s lips. Her slow kisses were her absolute favorite. “Mm, no. I want to now. He’s not in my life anymore, but you very much are, and I love you so much.”
“I think you just want to celebrate your birthday now since you know they end up like this.” She grinned, wrapping her arms around Max’s waist to pull her closer to kiss her again. “But I don’t blame you. All the more reason to spoil you and get more creative surprising you.”
Max chuckled, "We eat macca's in the tub and have great sex all the time." Holding up her hand, she smiled at the bracelet on her wrist. "And while this is definitely the prettiest bracelet I've ever seen, you know you don't have to get me presents." She cupped Lexia's cheek, stroking her soft skin with her thumb. "You're the best thing that's ever happened to me. Nothing can ever beat that.."

Max smiled a little, “This is the best birthday ever..” she said softly, rolling over to kiss Lexia tenderly, cupping her cheek. “I’m sorry. I know I should’ve been honest with you.” Smirking a little, she nipped at her girlfriend’s jaw. “I have had to resist calling you ‘daddy’ a few times, though…”
Lexia’s nose crinkled a little but she laughed anyways. “Yeah well, thank god I can tell that the difference dad and ‘daddy’.” Turning her head, she kissed her slowly. “But seriously let me know if you don’t want me to acknowledge your birthday anymore. Maybe just a present every now and then.”

Clearing her throat, Max looked up at the ceiling, pausing a moment before continuing. “My mom died during childbirth,” she started. “And I wasn’t a good enough consolation prize. He’s always hated me for it, and my birthday is just a reminder. He’s never spoken to my on my birthday. I’d get a card every year with money inside but I could recognize the housekeeper’s handwriting..”
Lexia frowned as she listened to what Max said but it just seemed to strange. How could a parent be so cruel to hold a grudge like that when Max had no control over the situation. “Well…this birthday isn’t so bad is it?” She asked, taking her girlfriend’s hand in hers and kissing her knuckles softly. “If you didn’t want celebrate you could have just told me.” Lexia was quiet for a moment. “But I’m also not your dad because I am very happy you were born. Extremely so.”

Max blushed, leaning into Lexia’s hand. “I love you..” she said softly as her girlfriend cuddled up to her. At the question, she sighed a little. She knew it would come up eventually. Max hated talking about this; she wished they could just go back to amazing sex. “I’ve always hated my birthday,” she said quietly. “So has my dad…”
Just from looking at Max’s reaction to her question, Lexia knew it was probably better to not ask. But she was curious and wanted to know. “What do you mean?” She asked, frowning a little since what would her dad have to do with hating her own birthday.
