Not tumblr specifically so much as the fact that regular use of even this least typical of the social media platforms had me in a constant pattern of trying to form my thoughts into small consumable chunks to post on the interent instead of just...thinking. Which is bad. I don't want to exist as an internet commodity more than I do as a person.

One of my senior boys, writing an essay on crime and punishment, paraphrased the opening line of Emma to describe Raskolnikov. (See below.) This is what teacher dreams are made of. To me.

Anyway I miss you all funny women in my phone but actually being off even this version of socials has made me realize how much my thought patterns had formed into how to make something A Post and how very freeing it is to think without trying to package that thought for quippy internet consumption. Just thinking a lot about commodifying myself less. I DO still hope to redownload and return at some future point when I've got a handle on what I want balance to look like because I WILL need to come steal new jokes so everyone continues to think I'm funny.

Also, baby girl has had a long road BUT last week she turned a corner and started drinking from her bottle and tonight I got to feed her her first full feeding without the tube! Didn't even hook it up for medicine (she's teething). I cannot tell you what sitting in a rocking chair holding your baby and watching her drink from a bottle feels like after six months of feeding tubes, but it's pretty great. Our hope from here is that she continues to do well and can increase the bottle flow a little more and take ALL of her feedings this way. The g tube won't come out until the doctors can do a repeat swallow study and see no aspiration and feel that she's been strong enough on the bottle for long enough to not need a back up. But frankly, if she's happy eating, I'm not gonna be the one to stop her and if the g tube stays then it stays. As long as I'm not using it then the doctors can dither and debate until the cows come home :)
