Casual reminder that Snape did not start hanging out with Death Eaters because Lily ended the friendship. Lily ended the friendship because Snape started hanging out with Death Eaters.
Hey everybody 💙 So I’m the first to admit that I am independent to a fault. Asking for help is one of the hardest things in the world for me. But being a fresh-out-of-college broke actor, I am very short on funds at the moment, and a bit desperate….
We all know the life of an artist can be very difficult. Making money to be able to travel to and from auditions when between jobs is tough. That’s why cattle call auditions like SETC are so important.
The Southeastern Theatre Conference allows me to audition in front of 40+ companies nationwide at once, saving me a lot of time and stress and grants me the opportunity to meet with companies I otherwise would not be able to. Unfortunately these conferences have a high registration price, along with lodging and travel cost.
The competition in this conference is very tough, and the screening process alone cuts 64% of the people who go through the first stage. Only a few weeks ago I found out that I had made it through the screening process! But getting to the Conference itself is going to be a bit more difficult. That’s hopefully where you guys come in…
Like I said, I’m terrible at asking for help, so I’m giving you all something in return. I’ll be incentivizing my fundraising, and am “rewarding” scarves. I say “rewarding” because, although any donations are fantastic and greatly appreciated, if you donate $25 or more, ($20 if you are a college student) I will make and send you a scarf! These scarves are GREAT Christmas presents. If you donate, I’ll contact you personally about getting your scarf to you and if you’d like a certain color or combination, it may take a little more time, but I’m happy to customize one for you.
Thank you so much in advance for your generosity
(Mutuals, if you wouldn’t mind signal boosting)
hi, could you tell me why people think sirius was in an abusive home please? it's been awhile since i read the books i don't remember anything about that
Of course. The subject of Sirius’ past abuse rises in Order of the Phoenix and it’s canon that he was at least verbally and emotionally abused by his family til he left home.I’m just gonna do a quick search and pull some quotes from OOTP. “Yoooou!” she howled, her eyes popping at the sight of the man. “Blood traitor, abomination, shame of my flesh!” (Portrait of Walburga Black to Sirius, OOTP Chapter 4)This is Walburga’s portrait so it’s only a glimpse of her, i can’t imagine the things Sirius heard before he could finally leave Grimmauld Place. Now, the books are told from Harry’s POV so the hints of Sirius’ abuse are somewhat subtle. Sirius doesn’t speak of his past home life explicitly, maybe because he didn’t have time to deal with it himself either or maybe because he doesn’t want to burden his 15 year old godson with his problems, but it’s all there in the books.Kreacher bowed again and said, “Whatever Master says,” then muttered furiously, “Master is not fit to wipe slime from his mother’s boots, oh my poor Mistress, what would she say if she saw Kreacher serving him, how she hated him, what a disappointment he was —” (OOTP Chapter 6) “Leave?” Sirius smiled bitterly andran a hand through his long, unkempt hair. “Because I hated the whole lot ofthem: my parents, with their pure-blood mania, convinced that to be a Blackmade you practically royal … my idiot brother, soft enough to believethem … that’s him.”…. “He was younger than me,” saidSirius, “and a much better son, as I was constantly reminded.” (Sirius about his family, OOTPChapter 6)Another example of both verbal and emotional abuse Sirius suffered. We don’t know much about Sirius’ father, but this quote makes me believe that he wasn’t quiet involved with his family’s home life as his wife was.“Itwas my father’s,” said Sirius, throwing the ring into the sack. “Kreacherwasn’t quite as devoted to him as to my mother, but I still caught him snogginga pair of my father’s old trousers last week.” (OOTP Chapter 4)Whether he himself abused Sirius or not, he had not qualms about disowning his own son or the abuse his wife inflicted on him. That’s negligent at best (which still counts as abuse in my book.), though i do think that he also verbally and emotionally abused Sirius at some time. Then, there’s also Kreacher, who Sirius absolutely loathes. This is just my own reading, but i think Kreacher also took part in the abuse Sirius suffered, maybe directly or indirectly. This quote, in my opinion, supports my theory. “He’s been alone too long,”said Sirius, “taking mad orders from my mother’s portrait and talking tohimself, but he was always a foul little —” (Sirius about Kreacher, OOTPChapter 6) Sirius is also uncomfortable and resentful of having to stay alone in the house with Kreacher, no matter how invisible he is. “I don’t know,” said Sirius, “Ihaven’t seen anyone from the Order all weekend, they’re all busy. It’s justbeen Kreacher and me here…” There was a definite note ofbitterness in Sirius’s voice. (OOTP Chapter 14) There’s also the fact that Sirius was incredibly unhappy because he was back at his childhood home and having to spend time around anything remind him of his family.Hasn’t anyone told you? This was myparents’ house,” said Sirius. “But I’m the last Black left, so it’s mine now. Ioffered it to Dumbledore for headquarters — about the only useful thing I’vebeen able to do.” Harry, who had expected a betterwelcome, noted how hard and bitter Sirius’s voice sounded. (OOTP Chapter 5)Sirius heaved another greatsigh, cast a dark look at the tapestry, and he and Harry went to join theothers. (OOTP Chapter 6) “I don’t like being back here,”he said, staring across the drawing room. “I never thought I’d be stuck in thishouse again.” (Sirius, OOTP Chapter 6)Sirius’ mental state during the time he spends in Grimmauld makes me wonder the severity of his abuse. After all, his parents were proud of Regulus for joining the Death Eaters, were they really above physically abusing their children who they “hated” that much? Even if they did, i think the only person Sirius would share it with would have been James so it’s normal that we don’t get a confirmation of this. Speaking of Sirius’ mental state, all through OOTP Sirius shows clear signs of PTSD and chronic depression, this always gets discarded as Sirius being moody, immature, emotionally unstable or just bored. He tries to repress his feelings which leads to explosive arguments later (Molly, Snape). Sirius already can’t deal with his feelings and he’s constantly getting scorned for his behavior. Wiizarding world is so uneducated on mental health that instead of helping Sirius; they provoke, knowingly trigger and further shut him in a house he was abused in. (I don’t buy for a second that Dumbledore didn’t know what Sirius went through in that house.)Now look what you’ve made me do, i made myself sad again thinking of my favorite star prince.
I agree completely, but I don’t understand this idea that Dumbledore had any other real options for keeping Sirius safe? 12 GP was the place made safe for him, in large part because of the actions of the parents and family he hated so. It sucked for Sirius, sure, but what other option was there other than to put him there to keep him alive and hope he could deal until a chance came to prove he was innocent to a Ministry that was deeply invested in believing otherwise? People seem to think Dumbledore could have just pulled a perfect solution out of his arse and the fact that he didn’t is just proof he’s awful. Sometimes you can’t do jack shit, even in the most awful circumstances. That’s a large point of the books!
Bill and Fleur’s shell cottage was a safe house and it was under fidelius charm. The conclusion i draw from here is that it’s possible to make new safe houses. That’s a fairly good alternative than you know, sticking Sirius in to his old house to relive the pains of his childhood day after day. All through the series Dumbledore refuses to do jack shit to help people if he can’t benefit from the favor to further his own agenda, this is literally not news.
^^^^ this post. All of it.
*cracks knuckles* Let me tell you a thing.
Dumbledore dumped Sirius at 12 Grimmwald Place to simply be rid of him because he was not useful to him. But to understand WHY he’d do this to Sirius we’ve gotta go back.
Dumbledore, much like Slughorn, collected people he could use. Only Dumbledore collected vulnerable people who he could exploit. Think Remus Lupin. He was a werewolf and had ZERO prospects in life and Dumbledore gave him a chance to go to school, get an education, let him be a real child, just so he could later ask him to do THE THING HE ABSOLUTELY DID NOT WANT, going to live with Fenrir Greyback’s pack. He made Remus feel so indebted to him that he could ask Remus to do ANYTHING and he would say yes. This was renewed when he gave Remus the DADA job and subsequently asked him to do more missions into the werewolf packs.
Now there were people who were not indebted this way, think of the Weasleys. They weren’t in debt like Remus was, but he had them utterly convinced that they were USELESS WITHOUT HIM. When Dumbledore died, they felt like it was over and they were simply going to try and survive without him, not thinking they’d overcome without Dumbledore.
Then you have Sirius Black and James Potter. James Potter could not be used by Dumbledore because dear God that boy thought he could do anything. And truly he could do just about anything. And in companion with him was Sirius. Sirius wasn’t a hopeless case like Remus. Sirius was a rebel. That child KNEW what going against his parents would cost him. And with the help of James, not Dumbledore, he made his choices knowing full well what the consequences would be. So he was not poor Sirius Black who needed Dumbledore to save him, though to his credit, DUMBLEDORE TRIED TO COLLECT SIRIUS. But it failed. Just like he failed to collect James.
And when Dumbledore couldn’t collect Sirius, he used the lovely escape presented by Sirius himself. Dumbledore was the head of the Wizengamot during the first war. If he wanted to give Sirius a trial, he could have. But he also had the ability to NEGLECT Sirius’ right to a trial. Dumbledore wanted Sirius out of the way so he sent him to Azkaban without a trail, without even an inquiry into what happened. For the love of god Veritaserum and Pensives exist and easily could have been used and they wouldn’t have taken long to deduce the truth. It’s not that Dumbledore truly thought him guilty, it’s that he wanted him out of the way, because dear Lord, DUMBLEDORE NEEDED HARRY TO NEED HIM and Harry would not have needed Dumbledore as a savior from the Dursleys of he had Sirius.
So why dump him at 12 Grimmwald? Because Dumbledore couldn’t risk an inquiry. Dumbledore kept Sirius from justice for 12 years and it needed to stay that way. He made sure Sirius was out of the way by locking him in his own personal hell. He made everyone already under his thumb believe Sirius needed to be at the house so Sirius was literally trapped. Dumbledore didn’t just trap Sirius in a place, he trapped him in his head. There was no way for Sirius to influence Harry. There was no way for Sirius to take Harry away from Dumbledore and his plan.
And with Sirius in a constant state of disarray from his horrible environment, bringing back memories of the hell he lived through as a child, Dumbledore discredited him and just about anything he said to everyone, who in turn discredited him to Harry. Despite Harry wanting to believe Sirius, everyone else he trusts tells him not to. Keeping Sirius in Hell, meant that not only could he not influence Harry but he also couldn’t convince anyone else that he was right, and take more people out from under Dumbledores influence.
SIRIUS HAD TO BE AT 12 GRIMMWALD PLACE BECAUSE IT WAS HIS PUNISHMENT FROM DUMBLEDORE FOR NOT BEING USEFUL AND IT WAS A WAY TO CONTROL HIM SINCE HE COULDN’T BE USED. IT KEPT HIM FROM INFLUENCING HARRY. IT KEPT HIM FROM MAKINGOTHERS REALIZE DUMBLEDORE WASNT GOD. KEEPING HIM AT 12 GRIMMWALD WAS THE NEXT BEST THING TO AZKABAN SO OF FUXKING COURSE DUMBLEDORE MADE HIM STAY THERE.
THIIIIIISSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! THIS IS WHAT IM SAYING!!!! Gaaahhhh someone help my poor baby boy!!!
Puppy reacts to getting hicups!
[source]
dogs are so pure. i cant even believe this small little thing is barking at its own little stomach for creating hiccups inside of him.
what is it about capybaras that attracts groups of small animals to them? Its not just mammals either its like birds and turtles and frogs too
look at this shit
They radiate peace
capybaras are friend shaped
I love this post
This is actually a cool thing I know about!
In the wild capybaras live in large groups so naturally a female capybara will take care of not only her own offspring, but all of the other offspring in the group. So capybaras are super great mothers who will adopt pretty much anything and take care of it.
Lots of places that rescue different animals will give a group of baby animals to a capybara to raise if they have one.
Like puppies
Ducks
Deer
Emus
They are just super calm animals so they’re naturally great at mothering or just existing in a group!
LOOK WHAT’S BACK ON MY DASH
REBLOGGING RIGHT THE FUCK NOW
I’VE BEEN LOOKING EVERYWHERE FOR THIS
Just like Slughorn, Albus Dumbledore collects people. Only, instead of focusing on those with influence, he looks to the outcasts.
The expelled half-giant. The young werewolf. The repentant Death Eater.
He protects them and gives them a second chance. All he asks in return is their loyalty.
And, if on occasion he requests that they undertake a certain task, invoking their debt of gratitude - well, that is no more than he is owed.
He once thought to add a certain disowned Black to his collection, but quickly realised his mistake.
Sirius is not an outcast, but a rebel. He knowingly chose his path, and chooses what price he is willing to pay for it. He refuses to be used.
So Albus Dumbledore abandons him.
Who gave you the RIGHT?
Dumbledore knows Sirius’s loyalty lies with Harry instead of him, and he has no use for someone who is not willing to follow his orders without question.
This is just an excuse for me to goof off on camera tbh
(( OOC: LOOK AT THIS ADORABLE TONKS!! ))
Character prompt: Try to think of as many possible responses a character could have to any given question. E.g. Lily Evans: “Are you having sex with James?”
“Define ‘sex.’ And also… define ‘James.’”
“Obviously not. He’s not even in this room.”
“Not until next Tuesday. Why?”
“Yes, but I’ve got a family emergency. Do you know if anyone can cover my shift?”
“I’m doing my Charms homework, but if he wants to try it, he’s welcome.”
“Metaphorically?”
“Knickers are still in place, so probably not.”
“Is he offering?”
“I try to at least once a week, but you know how hard it is to stay on top of these things.”
“If I know the answer, do I win a prize?”
“Well, it’d be pretty impolite to do it while I was talking to someone else.”
“In a way, aren’t we all having sex with James?”
“Only for recreation, but with practice I hope to do it professionally.”
“Why, is there a queue?”
“Pass.” “On the sex or answering?” “Pass.”
JKR said that Hagrid still works at Hogwarts in 2017, which means he’s still been alive these past few decades, and I just really hope someone took him to see How to Train Your Dragon.
that someone’s name is charlie weasley and they both cried
sometimes i have to remind myself that the hp series is actually not about the marauders and we literally know 0.1% about them as people.

I had a thought. Like how JARVIS was made by Tony based on (and in the memory of) his Jarvis, the whole voice, accent, speech and all. And just IMAGINE that F.R.I.D.A.Y was made by Tony in the memory of his Aunt Peggy (And Peggy is Tony’s godmother). So FRIDAY has her voice and all. And FRIDAY is sent online during AOU fight, so ofc no one pays attention to it. But after the whole Ultron thing, when everyone comes back to tower, what would be the reaction of Steve? I need a fic ASAP. (And full of wholesomeness please)
the Hogwarts teachers were my favourite part of the books remember in CoS when they were so sick of Lockhart that they chased him out of the staffroom by reminding him he’d said he could kill Slytherin’s monster in seconds, remember in OotP when they couldn’t tell Harry they approved of his interview so they did wildly extravagant favours for him, like giving him twenty house points for passing a watering can, or bursting into tears and announcing that he’d live a long and happy life? on that note remember how much McGonagall disliked Trelawney and all her little digs, and remember how she ran forward to brace Trelawney as she was being kicked out by Umbridge? remember how McGonagall ran out to defend Hagrid from trained Aurors with nothing but her words and took four Stunning Spells to the chest? remember when she told Peeves how to unscrew the chandelier? i could go on about McGonagall especially for days but i love all of them so much

okay, so we know that tonks’ patronus changed to a wolf once she fell in love with remus, but what if remus’ changed too?
he always made sure to cast a non-corporeal patronus - the sight of that damn wolf coming from the end of his wand was almost too much to bear, sometimes. it seemed like a cruel joke. but one day, on official order business, some dementors are sent after him as a diversion. he expects to dispatch of them easily - a patronus charm deals with them easily, and at this point he’s rather adept at it.
but as he lifts his wand and wordlessly flicks it, it’s as if the wood explodes.
he can’t control it - he hasn’t felt this out of control of a charm since school. bursting forth, cutting wispy trails through the light and bounding at the dementors, is a jack rabbit. remus is so confused and taken aback that the charm nearly dissipates, but he’s able to hold it together long enough for the dementors to retreat. and once they do, the jack rabbit seems to look at him, and he could swear it winks before it disappears in a flash of light.
he only knows one other person that winks. he only knows one other person whose patronus is “some little rabbit,” she had said. “and honestly i thought i was going to get something cooler,” was how she’d continued.
if remus didn’t think he could hide how he felt about tonks before, he definitely couldn’t now.
