keicho + bow and arrow
I will be wild. I will be brutal. I will encircle you and conquer you. I will be more powerful than your boats and your swords and your blood lust.
I WILL BE INEVITABLE.
I don’t want to care. If I care about things, it’ll just be worse, it’ll just be another thing to worry about. It’s less painful if I don’t care.
Bret Easton Ellis
❝ as if these games truly capture the essence of war... they haven’t the slightest clue . ❞
I was hit by the Nijimura feels like a ton of bricks last night
girodigioia:
———Even if he was a journalist, he’d have a hard time trying to record the other’s speech. Japanese was not his first language, and he was illiterate in the sense he could not read or write it above an elementary level.
❝ I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you. ❞
It wasn’t hard to tell the guy had a stick up his ass. Maybe it was just his nature, but to talk shit about a complete stranger in front of them and expect nothing of it seemed ludicrous. Parker was an unforgiving individual in many cases. He fought often, though he held back now that he was on foreign soil. There were always exceptions. He’d make one if the other threw the first punch.
❝ Anyway, if you’re looking for a target to shoot, I could bend over if you’d like. ❞
UGH. did this man not know the meaning of decency? it’s impossible for him to keep a straight face after that. his expression contorts into something resembling disgust and disappointment, and for a moment he can’t even find it in himself to respond. keicho preferred not to give people like that the time of day. shamefully, he’d been the one to inadvertently instigate this. now he was reaping what he sowed .
❝ disgusting. as if i’d ever ask a man to present himself that way . ❞
there’s still no regret in his bones in regards to what he had said. he very well meant it. rather, he feels it with second hand embarrassment. this is what what he’s destined to be compared to. the thought is horrible and imperfect. his arms cross tighter and his attention immediately darts anywhere else that isn’t the other man’s face. he very well could’ve slugged him for even assuming such a thing, but he didn’t have the time nor the will for it. he’d heard enough .
arbitrainfinitum:
“Or perhaps, a petulant child like you can go elsewhere, instead of acting like you own everything.”
There isn’t even the beginnings of a note of patience in her tone, not lifting her eyes from the notes she’s aggressively writing, and when she does look up, she’s puffing smoke from her pipe like an angered dragon. She was absolutely, without a doubt, not in the mood for this.
“You’d be better off going about your business and leaving me alone. I don’t have the patience for you in my personal bubble right now, I have work to do. If the smoke is irritating, then move away.”
what an unfortunate encounter. nevermind the fact his senses were now partially dulled by the overwhelming scent of clove and spice clouding them. normally such a smell would be relatively pleasing, but he had walked directly into an exhale. now this woman, young in appearance with a nag worse than most elders he’d met, was pelting him with insults .
❝ i’d be more inclined to mind my own if you hadn’t blown it all in my direction and disrupted my walk . ❞
he barely avoids coughing as he speaks again. it’s not unlike him to call someone out, but he found himself avoiding it today up until this moment. there was still a scuff on his shoes from where some punk had stepped all over them. he was starting to rethink letting them walk away with nothing more than an abashed “sorry”. ❝ no matter how engrossed you are in your work, you’d do well to have a little decency while you do it. i hold no respect for those that go about their work in public without regard to it . ❞
fortunasua:
“Strength and confidence are two different things, actually,” he holds up left index and middle finger. “I’m confident. I’m still young, so I can’t necessarily say I’m strong yet. The young are so…fickle, after all, right?” he plays modest, fronts pretty. What a nuisance, how bothersome it is to downplay one’s self. “Well Mr. Nijimura,” he extends a hand. “It’s a pleasure to meet someone who can recognize greatness. I agree, I agree. My teacher had me learn Latin rather young for the same reason. It’s a shame my Japanese is bare bones though,” he laughs, a bit bashful. “I only go back and forth here for business.”
❝ regardless, you are growing and making progress. that’s what’s important. ❞ dare say he felt himself on the verge of smiling; a rather rare occurrence for once consistently displeased with life as a whole. keicho doesn’t hesitate in taking diego’s hand, giving it a firm shake. it seems far more calloused and rugged in comparison to the other’s smooth features. judging from his general appearance, the militant man expects it. ❝ i could say the same to you, mr. brando. with time you will no doubt reach fluency. i expect nothing less. if you are determined to learn, it will come to you without fail. even the greatest must start somewhere . ❞
fortunasua:
“Japan doesn’t have a lot of space, or a big history with equine sports, so I don’t blame you. Thank you though. I think if you’re going to do something, you should do it with every strength of your being,” he’s a touch annoyed by not being recognized on sight, but it certainly doesn’t show, and he allows the feeling to pass in a half-second. “Diego Brando,” he doesn’t bother with the spectacle surrounding his name. If this was a man who had any need to know, he already would. “And yours? Your English is really good, by the way.”
❝ that is the way the greatest people in this world think. without that strength, the lot of us would die out before we could accomplish anything worthwhile. ❞ a little bleak in terms of wording, but he wasn’t one to sugarcoat things. he was blunt and honest by nature. ❝ keicho nijimura, ❞ he replies, a flick of the tongue against the back of his teeth in thought. ❝ i took classes for my english, but i also studied it nonstop on the side until i was fluent. it is one of the more universal languages. if i am to learn something so crucial, it is best i learn it fully. this conversation would not have been so clear cut otherwise . ❞
girodigioia:
———What Parker did not understand entirely was the man’s haircut. He wondered what amount of gel was needed to suspend lifeless bleached hair into that hideous cylindrical abomination atop the other’s head. It had to be a lot. What sort of self harm was he doing to himself? Poor guy…!
While he was not the incredibly fluent in Japanese, his talks and occasional outings with Yamagishi gave the foreigner an added advantage when others addressed him indirectly. So the man has a problem with his midriff? Parker approached, a forced smile on his face.
❝ Good afternoon! I’m a journalist working for La Repubblica, perhaps you’ve heard of us? Anyway, I’m doing an article on dated fashion trends around the world, would you mind if I interviewed you? ❞
it was apparent his comments had gotten the chosen person of interest’s attention, albeit in an odd silence. a stunned sort of silence, as he expected from people that let his words process. it was no different than what he was regularly used to. the man’s communication skills were not quite what they should’ve been. in fact, keicho had a habit of putting people in their place without even realizing he had done so half the time. such came with that desire to see things in order. to see something beautiful, as he’d put it .
but then the other broke the mold he had already begun shaping. an inconvenience, really, but not something entirely unexpected. there’s was always one or two that’d approach him in such a way. he’s seen this pitiful excuse of a smile multiple times. it’s the kind one plastered on their face to hide something else. it leaves him unmoved minus a slight quirk of the brow that’s hardly noticeable past straight features .
❝ if you are the eyes of journalism, i feel a great sense of pity for your readers, ❞ he states simply. ❝ my style of dress is of no one’s concern but my own; and to think you would address a militant haircut in such a way is deplorable, even for the low. it seems that leaves nothing of interest for you. i’d suggest finding someone else to interview . ❞
fortunasua:
“My horses are race horses and show horses–and pet horses. But I think all horses should be fed proper feed. Hay is good for building bulk, sure, but I don’t feet them that exclusively. I like to give a balanced diet of minerals, adequate amounts of protein, and so forth. Most of my horses eat plenty of grain along with their hay and free grazing. I also spoil them and give them treats, like carrots,” this man has brought out both the best and worst in Diego, and captured his full attention. “Adequate is paltry. Horses are like people, and if you raise them improperly, they will have the same host of problems a person raised inadequately would.”
intriguing. to go beyond his basic approval and into his own prideful show of his information perked an already piqued curiosity. he admires the man that dedicates himself to his work, regardless of whether the occupation seemed of importance to him or not. ‘only the BEST, and nothing less.’ that is keicho’s philosophy. ❝ that is something i like to hear. i admit i know very little on the fine details of equine care. i’m aware only of the basics. thus, it would be unwise of me to keep any of my own. but it seems you are well-educated in your line of work. it’s commendable. ❞ he pauses for a moment, just enough to make himself comfortable where he’s standing. ❝ what’s your name? ❞
I’m no longer on bad terms w/ anyone. I’m declaring it. Dislike me by yourself. I wish you the best.

“Well YER too close t’ the flowers. Step off a bit, will ya? An’ quiet down, too. They don’t like when idiots open their damn mouths. I’m the only idiot they like listenin’ too, after all.”
Sharp eyes pierced through him like a poison dipped dagger, clearly enraged by his salty remark. Oh, she hated when people thought so HIGHLY of themselves. Maybe she’ll grow them through the concrete JUST to spite him! That’d be a treat.
“Listen, bub, don’t go flappin’ yer chops when yer opinion ain’t needed, got it? Avoid confrontation instead of startin’ shit. That’s what I do.”
it takes everything in him not to suck his teeth. keicho’s eyes narrow, but it’s the only obvious sign of emotion he gives her. how ungrateful. he sought only to protect the careful formation she had planted them all in, and this is how he’s addressed. it didn’t matter to him if his words were barked like some kind of haughty command. he knows what he said .
❝ you’re lucky i didn’t step on them and chose to give you a bit of advice instead, ❞ his tone is simple and matter-of-fact. ❝ people don’t plant flowers around here all that often, much less so neatly. i’m just trying to help you out. but suit yourself. just don’t make a scene when someone comes along and makes a mess of all your hard work because you planted them in an inadequate spot . ❞
Did you have fun at school today?

❝ — if i didn’t pay attention to everything beneath my feet, i’d be a dead man. ❞ his words sound like an exaggeration, but keicho speaks in a serious tone. every trip outside of his father’s rickety house was like walking through a minefield. if one were to so much a NICK one, they were dead. in this case he merely avoids stepping on a small garden, likely planted by the other judging by her grateful reaction in him avoiding them. ❝ try planting them somewhere else next time, though. they’re too close to the sidewalk . ❞

❝ whoever deemed it ACCEPTABLE for a man to wear crop tops should be shot. ❞ it’s not visibly directed at parker, but it’s quite obvious keicho is speaking to him. his eyes narrow, visibly displeased. what POTENTIAL he might’ve had if he wasn’t currently baring his midriff like a TONED PEACOCK. ❝ that bare skin makes for a nice TARGET . ❞

❝ —— OKUYASU. ❞
keicho’s chest doesn’t so much as LIFT in his breathing. he is calm, ableit uneasily so. like the brief pause in the eye of a storm, he stares. unwavering .
❝ you let some PUNK out on the street get the better of you again. didn’t you ? ❞ he’s still, filled with AUTHORITY; a sergeant looking down on a lanky soldier just an inch out of line. it bothers him. his formation and his name are thrown off-kilter. everything’s a damn mess. ❝ you never seem to learn. when are you going to stop letting EMPTY WORDS control your actions ? ❞
