Fouette En Pointe - Oil on Canvas

As a child in ballet I always looked up to the older ballerinas. Not only were they tall, beautiful, and more graceful but they were some of the strongest people I knew, balancing the entire weight of their body on two toes. I vividly remember seeing them stretching their feet before and after their classes, and how bruised, cut up, and bandaged the skin was. Thus was born this painting. The first foot shows the perfection of a pink satin pointe shoe holding up the weight of a ballerina. The other foot shows the wear and damage that pointe causes to a ballerina's foot. It is a mix of ethereal beauty, and horrible reality.

Materials: Horsehair brushes (assorted brand names) Windsor and Newton, Daler-Rowney Georgian, and Artists Loft oil paints Grumbacher painter's turpentine

Alright here’s my second installment. I’ve been mildly obsessed with this particular song and thought the lyric “Just a pawn in a king’s disguise” created such a clear image in my mind I just had to draw it out.

Songbook #1: Rats by Motionless in White

A new collection I'm starting of little 15-30 minute sketches to try and help me get back into the swing of art and stuff. I've been really obsessed with the new Motionless in White album recently, so I'm going to just start with those songs. The goal is to draw a short charcoal sketch based on or inspired by a song (kind of like my inktober but with less pressure). I don't plan anything before I begin - just sit down and start drawing.

update time ya’ll. here’s what I’ve gotten done on my Victorious piece. It’s still gonna be A WHILE before I am done. The confetti itself is a whole other level of hell but it will get done. I’m so tedious with my details. But I need to stop for a while. If i keep going my eyes might bleed.

New digital art series I’m working on. I’ll be creating an image for each of the songs on Panic! at the Disco’s Death of a Bachelor album. This piece is for Victorios. Not finished. Just the initial outline and the base color blocking for now. But I’ve logged about six hours on this so it’s time for a break. Heads up, there will be a video for every image...you know...once I actually finish something.

You Only Hear The Music When Your Heart Begins to Break

Materials: Koi liquid watercolor, multimedia paper, (assortment of) wolfshair brushes, Windsor and Newton masking fluid.

This piece is really dear to my heart, and something I’ve been conceptualizing for quite a while. It’s based off a lyric from the song The Kids From Yesterday by My Chemical Romance, which lends itself to the title of this painting. The centerpiece is a realistic anatomical heart, surrounded by a very surrealist concept. The sheet music seen moving in and out of the heart is the sheet music for the song The Kids From Yesterday, moving through the heart in the same direction that blood flows - and they told me I’d never use biology irl. Overall, the piece took me several weeks to complete and consisted of multiple different stages of masking off and painting. I couldn’t be more proud of how this piece came out.
