Different
That’s probably the purest description I could make of David Bowie. Different. That what he is. Unlike other artists, unlike any of the Stones, or of the Beatles, Jimi, Lou Reed or Morrison, or an endless list of others, Davide Bowie is and will alway be just unique. Him, and his music, are just something that has been given to you in a pure form. That’s why his music is timeless, and he’s completely detached. He has not just been ahead of his time. He is above time. So does his music. And you could just like him and be permeated by his music. And I feel sad and gloomy not because David Bowie died, but because today, more than any other day, I feel bounded by time. And the stars look very different today.
There are groups you listen to because it’s cool and highly appreciated by the people you are hanging with. I remember when I was a teen Fugazi were one of those bands, with the only difference that Fugazi were really cool.
