brtaekyung:
“ow—hey, that thing’s sharp!” now incredibly sulky, taekyung rubs his shoulder the moment she’s stopped hitting it, trying his best to remember that this is the president of the order smacking him and for good reason. what is he doing? some kind of walk of shame. he’s surprised he still is walking at this point, considering the look yewon’s giving him is one of murder. he should apologize, but instead he’ll just make things worse. “what? it’s not like i haven’t seen them before,” at this point, does it even matter what he’s saying? he’s put his foot in his mouth too often; he should get a foot up his ass. “i just said you looked pretty, geez.” ever the romantic, this one.
“nothing happened,” it’s a bold-faced lie – the ‘bold’ being him even attempting to lie – and taekyung’s well aware that they both know it’s far from the truth. he’d just zipped himself back up. eyeing her, he snorts. “you jealous or something?” alright, he’s about to die. but truth be told: he doesn’t want to talk about it, and he sure as hell doesn’t want to be lectured. he already knows he fucked up, so he’d rather turn it into one big joke. he feels like it is, anyway.
“i’m patrolling. checking out the perimeter. whatever the fuck we’re supposed to do here.” he clearly hadn’t been doing any of that, but his ex-girlfriend isn’t the only reason why. his gaze bores into yewon’s, this time almost accusingly. time to flip the script. “hunting one of our own doesn’t exactly sound appealing when we both know who it is.”
the unfiltered bluntness of taekyung's words only poked her indignation. yewon had no troubles accepting and facing his brusque and candid personality when it was just the two of them, in private. she had gotten used to it, the way he first spoke and then thought about his words, the straightforward manner of his being which many could regard to as rude. now, this place was anything but private and yewon wished he could pull himself together, just for this one night. "and if you say one more word about my boobs, you will never see them again. can we change the topic, please?!" her arms dropped to her sides, a dejected sigh escaping her lips. maybe this was all yewon's fault. it was what she reaped for wanting to be a friend to her hunters, not the omnipotent president, hovering about her foot soldiers. perhaps she should have utilized a stricter tone from day one and especially kept taekyung on a short leash. a list of should haves and what ifs that were all pointless by now. the damage was done and he was far from taking her authority seriously. "i would put any potential jealousy at the end of your priority list if i were you," she said, straightening her dress while trying to regain her composure. she wasn't interested in what childish liaison connected taekyung with the oldest song, tonight's matter at hand was too pressuring to get into a battle of push and pull. the wiser head gives in and once again, she had to be exactly that. "no, it is not appealing. so try to focus all your efforts onto it so we can bring this to a quick end, alright?" she asked, almost begging as she ran her hand through her hair, an attempt to fix it. neither of them had to mention the third's name and the mere thought of him made yewon's heart sting. the outlook of possibly encountering him raised a variety of emotions within her, she wasn't exactly able to tell them apart clearly.
