Paul's handwritten lyrics for Here, There, and Everywhere
George steps out onto the balcony in just a towel to wave at fans because he doesn’t have any trousers (Australia 1964)
Interviewer: George is the boy who appeared in underpants yesterday.
George: actually it wasn’t- it was a towel I had wrapped around me, but uhm, we were watching on tv and they were saying “I wonder why they’re not coming out to wave.” And there’s no way we could tell them we didn’t have any dry trousers.
John: none of us had any of clothes to put on
George: so anyway in the end, we went- they (Paul and John) got a pair of trousers from somewhere and I went out with a towel around me just to wave, otherwise I think they might have thought we were trying to be funny.
When he’s got the chance to sing any French song ever made but y’know he’s John Lennon and he goes for a ‘Voulez-vous coucher avec moi, ce soir’ (Would you like to sleep with me, tonight ) instead.
Eight Days a Week: the Touring Years (2016) dir. Ron Howard
“When quizzed about the peace intentions of the other Beatles. John said that “George is also an active pacifist, but is not as big a show-off as I am. He has to do his own thing for peace.” Paul, on the other hand is “an intellectual pacifist. He talks about it.” “Ringo,” said John, smiling, “lives peace.””
