Meditation: “Resting in the Natural Mind”

Sit comfortably on a chair or on cross-legged on the floor Allow your spine to rise naturally, like a prayer flag catching a gentle breeze. Sit with your back straight but not rigid.

Three cleansing breaths

Inhale slowly through the nose.

Exhale slowly through the mouth. With each exhale, imagine releasing a layer of tension, like snow melting in the morning sun.

Rest your awareness on the breath Feel the breath as it moves in and out. Don’t force it—just notice.

Recognize the spacious mind In Tibetan practice, awareness is compared to the open sky. Thoughts are like passing clouds—appearing, shifting, dissolving. Let them come and go without paying them any attention or resisting them.

Silently repeat a simple intention “May my mind be clear. May my heart be gentle. May my actions today bring Benefit for me and all sentient beings.”

Be kind to yourself Offer a quiet thank-you to the moment, to your breath and to all beings sharing this world with you.

Tibetan Buddhist Meditation: The Breath of Compassion

Find a quiet moment. Sit comfortably, with your spine straight and shoulders relaxed. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in through your nose — feel the air filling your lungs. As you breathe out, release tension, letting your body soften.

Now, bring to mind the wish:

May all beings be free from suffering and the causes of suffering.

With each in-breath, imagine drawing in light — calm, wisdom and compassion. With each out-breath, imagine sending that same light out into the world, touching every being with peace.

Let the rhythm of your breath carry your intention. Stay here for a few minutes — simply breathing, simply being.

When the mind rests in compassion, it is already home.
