Shrimpo is genuinely an interesting character to me. (A Shrimpo ramble)
Yes, the joke character that hates everybody, is interesting to me.
But, if you really look into it, his character does have some form of depth. Just not the "I'm sad deep down" depth.
Shrimpo hates EVERYONE. Even Finn, who is said to be his only friend. But, you know one person who he never said he hates? Himself. He considers himself in very high regard in comparison to the other toons. On the new floor, he's even upset that there's not more pictures of him.
He constantly says he's better than everybody else. Yet, he has the worst stats in the game. However, that's where I think it gets even more interesting.
Looking at his stats , one might assume that he is a weak character. But hints shown in the game show otherwise. The punching bags and holes in the wall in his room, the mini game on the aquatic floor where he's a thief (which would require stealth), the arcade game based on him where he throws bricks into people's windows.
There are many signs of him actually being quite strong. However,,, SHRIMPO DOESN'T LIKE BEING TOLD WHAT TO DO. So, I heavily headcanon that the reason Shrimpo has the worst stats in the game, is because he doesn't want to be there. He hates everybody. He most likely hates Dandy.
This is proven by his dialogue and actions while on the floor. He stomps his feet like he's upset to be there and he slams his head on the machine like he's trying to break a hole into it. After every machine is completed he shouts about how much he hates doing them and no matter who is with him in the elevator, he just... Is ANGRY at them.
So, that begs the question, what would his stats be if he actually took it seriously? Honestly, I feel like it would be this:
2 star skill check: I heavily feel like this would stay the same, but, I'll add an extra star to his skillcheck just for the hell of it.
3 star movement speed. I don't think he would be slow, but he wouldn't be the fastest either. Definitely average
4 star extraction speed: Crazy I know. But, I heavily headcanon the valves can be a bit hard to turn due to rust, so Shrimpo, being a character who is heavily implied to be strong enough to punch holes in his wall, would probably have an easier time turning the wheel if he took it seriously.
1 star stamina: Feels like something that you just can't change about a toon, stamina is just something that's very intrinsic in them.
4 star stealth: Crazy stat, I know. But, I heavily headcanon that the only reason his stealth is so low in-game, is because of how loudly he stomps his feet. I feel like if he brought out his inner thief like in the old days on the Aquatic Floor, he would have some pretty damn good stealth.
Obviously he would have a different passive or maybe active ability. But, there isn't really a way to tell what that would be. And I HIGHLY doubt the BlushCrunch team would give an overpowered ability that lets you kill twisteds with a single punch. Even if that would be very funny and cool.
Another thing I find interesting, is how Toodles is the only toon he doesn't say he hates. Showing that he knows how to show some form of restraint when it comes to certain toons. Although, he does scare her by proclaiming that the elevator is going to crash, that just comes off as more of an older brother teasing their younger sibling instead of genuine bullying behavior.
Unfortunately, I can not say the same about Gourdy. Poor kid was pushed so hard by Shrimpo he ended up needing a bandage afterwards. However, there's a chance it's because Shrimpo isn't as used to Gourdy as he is with Toodles. But, that doesn't really excuse him physically harming the poor pumpkin child.
Unfortunately, I can not think about anything else I would like to bring up on my little Shrimpo ramble. But, I did have fun writing it!
