from @kokodrawings role reversal au: naruto as ambassador of the shinobi nations. please read the tags on the original post đ§Ą
the idea just took root in my mind and i really think this would be such a beautiful life for naruto post-war. discovering the world, making it his home, and everyone welcoming him like family.
he would share stories, help people, spreading love, hope and peace. and even write about his travels ! the book would probably read like a wackjob wrote it but it would be so heartfelt :')
i've always loved the idea that a post-war naruto would feel such peace and happiness that he often (accidentally) goes into sage mode simply by breathing. like someone's talking to him and then maybe a moment of silence would pass and when they look back at him the markings of sage mode are on him. also, i imagine in this au he also lets kurama's chakra leak freely (kind of like he's letting him stretch) so he would sometimes have sharper features because of it too.
the necklace he wears are trinkets from the five great nations, each an official seal from the kage of each village, a sign of their acknowledgement and also works like a pass to wander through the countries freely.
the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be a part of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
WAIT i love Hinata's crumpy characterization. Go girl, who gives a shit about fashion. Wear your pajamas, sweats and hoodies everywhere, who cares?
I think Hinata's character would be more likeable if it was expanded a bit. She probably has a crush on Naruto because Naruto always fought back, right? I can see her picturing Naruto as a bad boy, but also the prince who could save her from the Hyƫga Clan.
With the constant swooning/fantasizing over Naruto on the anime, Hinata could be a nerd too!! A fujoshi and himejoshi!! What do mistreated daughters do to pass time? Read trashy romance!!
If falling in love is supposed to be part of her personality anyway, what if she had new crushes all the time? What if her type were badboys and revolutionaries? And people who could "save" her?
Hinata catches a bad case of having a celebrity crush on Tsunade, because duh. It's Tsunade.
I can see Hinata getting shy when facing the Akatsuki, to Neji's horror.
And she falls a little in love with Sakura too when Sakura heals her during Pain's attack.
It would make Neji overprotectiveness outside the manga less weird. Hinata could fall for a scammer and defect anyday, you know?
This started as a warm up bc i was struggling to draw iruka, but now im giggling at the thought that the most intimate thing kks can do is read ao3 in nothing but his pants (maybe)
Having insane thoughts about Mito outliving her husband, her entire generation, her married Clan, her homeland and what it means for her to be the first Jinchuuriki
Mito ramble below:
This was an excuse to draw elderly Mito but also I genuinely believe Mito becoming the jinchuuriki hadâŠ.ramifications beyond what canon showed us
So. capturing the tailed beast within you. Thatâs unheard of. Insanity. Blasphemy. Is Mito still a human, can a human even contain a god? Or is she the fox now, wearing human skin? When her eyes turn red and slitted and she smiles a foxâs smile and her shadow belies something much older and angry and humanity, can anyone really trust that she is in control?
At least she had Hashirama, the god of shinobi to âcontainâ her. And then she did not.
There has to be a section of people who believe Mito containing the Fox has cursed the land with the Foxâs vengeance. Uzushio, Konoha, the Senju grounds. And when early Konoha embroils itself in war and remembers Madara bringing the fox, or later Konoha experiences the fox Again, and Uzushio falls and so do the Senju,
isnât that a logical conclusion?
Mito watching history pass her by, âblessedâ with the Uzumakiâs long lifespan and whatever the fox dealt her. She married into the Senju, she belongs to that clan and not the Uzumaki anymore. But the Senju is gone and so is her husband and her brother in law, his body never recovered. Her natal clan is scattered to the winds and now she is princess of nothing. The survivors of Uzu, the diaspora that flees to Konoha, bitter over Konohaâs lack of action and claiming she has forgotten her roots, do not approach her.
The empty Senju compound rots around her and Uzushio becomes ruins she cannot return to, people grow up terrified and blaming her in equal breath for misfortune, for thinking that she deserved the power of a god. But what else is left for her now, but to continue living with the kyuubi sealed within her?
I donât think the vitrol against jinchuuriki only started in narutoâs era, when the fox broke free of Kushina. I think it started much earlier from the very beginning.
So Mito is alone for a very long time, and yet sheâs not, because she has with her the very curse that she is the jailer for, and when she finally nears the end and Kushina asks her how she managed it, Mito tells this sweet, cheerful little child to love the fox, because with weight and social ostracisation of being a jinchuuriki plus Uzumaki longevity (if not even the god of shinobi gets the chance to walk with an Uzumaki to the very end of life, who else can?) it is the only way to endure and carry this duty to the very end.
okay but there is something disquieting about this urge to cast fan writers as altruists. they give us all this for free!! well, no.
theyâre sharing
itâs a key difference in perception. fic isnât given. itâs shared. itâs part of a fandom communityâ in which readers are also an integral part.
itâs probably inevitable mission creep from the increasingly transactional nature of the internet and fandom-as-consumerism, which was always gonna happen after corps worked out how much bank there is to make from those weirdo fan people
but like. fandom is sharing. i think weâve lost that somewhere.
