I will say also: my feelings on the sisters of dorley have cooled down considerably ever since this story stopped being about steph and aaron and christine.
Now the story is almost exclusively about bea and valerie, with a side dish of yet another person finding out about dorley and freaking out until they inevitably fold. With only very very ocassional reminders that steph is still doing her thing.
I get why this is so, with steph fully out in the open and bethany having accepted her womanhood their arcs are more or less done and all they have left is complete the remaining steps of their transition. But it still rankles that this story is no longer what i came here to read.
I dunno, imagine in worm, after taylor joins the wards suddenly the whole story shifts and we just follow calduron, with sections that are just dr mother torturing case 53s chapter after chapter without end in sight. with only very ocassional interludes showing what taylor is up to.

Let me put this in terms you can fucking understand. your cousin, who will be at the "IRL meet-up event" this thanksgiving, has changed quite a bit and is "lowkirkenuinely" now a "pinkpilled" "foidmaxxer" and i'm asking you not to give her "spiked cortisol levels" about it
can we stop treating mages as the party toy. im sick and tired of being laughed at and kicked to my knees every time i suggest one of the many ways i can help the party. i just dont fucking underst-lgkl glk glkglk

*flirting* are you ever repulsed by ur desires
the fact that I feel the need to go, "and don't forget about Black people" is the most damning indictment of tumblr that I can give without being tempted to mention photovoltaic bartholemew. I have to browbeat you people to reblog any kind of Melanistic Mention. I love you, but i despair of you understanding the way I interpret your suburban accent.
13 year ago eminem (marshall mathers) said,
"I don't know how to make songs like that I don't know what words to use."
you have to do better than 13 year old eminem lyrics. stop treating people as a social obligation.
deal with it, talk about it, stop hiding it away in your private suffering chamber. do your communism dishes
you do this to me and ignore Black women. I am irritated with you.. resolve this.
Tears that are driven by white guilt are self-indulgent. When we are mired in guilt, we are narcissistic and ineffective; guilt functions as an excuse for inaction. Further, because we so seldom have authentic and sustained cross-racial relationships, our tears do not feel like solidarity to people of color we have not previously supported. Instead, our tears function as impotent reflexes that don’t lead to constructive action. We need to reflect on when we cry and when we don’t, and why. In other words, what does it take to move us? Since many of us have not learned how racism works and our role in it, our tears may come from shock and distress about what we didn’t know or recognize. For people of color, our tears demonstrate our racial insulation and privilege. I asked the woman of color I refer to in the opening of this chapter if I was missing anything in this list. This is her response: It’s infuriating because of its audacity of disrespect to our experience. You are crying because you are uncomfortable with your feelings when we are barely allowed to have any. You are ashamed or some such thing and cry, but we are not allowed to have any feelings because then we are being difficult. We are supposed to remain stoic and strong because otherwise we become the angry and scary people of color. We are only allowed to have feelings for the sake of your entertainment, as in the presentation of our funerals. And even then, there are expectations of what is allowed for us to express. We are abused daily, beaten, raped, and killed but you are sad and that’s what is important. That’s why it is sooooo hard to take. White Fragility, Robin DiAngelo (emphasis mine)
I must make two honest confessions to you, my Christian and Jewish brothers. First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season." Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection. Letter from a Birmingham Jail, Martin Luther King Jr. (emphasis mine)
white transfems are not especially racist, but we are afforded an uncommon opportunity to confront the reality of white supremacy. it is not a coincidence that talking about race as a transfem feels like inviting people to call you racist. white power structures leverage accusations of racism against us not in defense of racialized people, but as a way to suborn us to service of white supremacy. it is not a coincidence that it feels like the only winning move is to stop talking.
white supremacy courts us in the same way that "gender ideology skeptics" court transmascs.
Saying "he'd be such a beautiful trans woman" doesn't mean "he'd pass 100% of the time in all contexts" it means "I'd wanna gag and drool on it" or maybe even "I'd wanna watch her get railed."
Which is better.
Dissociated Since Birth
so sisters of dorley has been a fun read so far (im up to chapter 35) but... in a story where every character is possessed of perfect forgiveness, understanding, and tolerance, it's characters like nell that quickly become my favourites.
nell is imperfect, her anger and impatience hurt others around her. whereas every other POV character asides from the outright villains or former villains seem to be completely perfect. shahida is never once angry at melissa for lying to her for at minimum five years!! i understand their resumed love is important but god.
and i'm not rooting for a story where trans women are all revealed to be secretly evil- not at all- but i wish the story would spend more time in the torture basement. bethany's journey was so satisfying; rooting for a character who had done awful things to meaningful improve was incredible!
but there's untapped potential when you go entire chapters that near 30k words in length and don't even mention adam by name despite there being a group therapy session he is inexplicably not present at!!
so much love and admiration to alyson greaves who has created something so beautiful and thought provoking but. yeagh. i'm with this story for the long (long) run, but i wanna see these girls fuck up more. it makes eventual, painfully earned forgiveness so much more sweet.
900 COMBAT GRL-EVIL
i had to unfollow someone for this today so (apparently) hot take but if you were afab you cant speak as a transfem and transfems are entirely right to shout down your attempts to. this includes cis people calling themselves "honeybee transfems", bigender people calling themselves "transfemmasc", every intersex person afab regardless of what hormones you produce, and "transfem" headmates whose hosts/bodies were afab. you people gnaw at the bars of the cage you put us in in desperate attempts to speak over us and discredit our arguments when we start to discuss the cage within earshot and im fucking sick of it. words fucking mean things and you cant just vibes your way into the societal forces that make us transfem. choke on it
If you’re monogamous and you pretend to your partner or lie to yourself that you’re fine with polyamory when you’re not, I need you to understand that you’re about to ruin two lives minimum.
my Yume Nikki tribute for the anniversary <3 I'd like to say I was very tired and sad about my art, thinking about it, doing art… it's not easy for me. I did this fanart to start working again on it. Even if my eyes are tired (that's why I didn't added so many details on the shoes for example), and even if I'm nervous about posting.. I know nothing's wrong with madotsuki. And people in X are liking it, it seems.. so… I hope you like it. I hope you REALLY like it.. not just the likes itself, but you really stop and see my art, and feel something.. it's not easy for me
