edit: just 2 add my thoughts on my own drawing... cuz i like talking..
This is red's room, around 1-3 years after the events of frlg. 10 y/o red does not makes his bed. ever. His mom periodically washes and sets his sheets just in case he decides to come home, but she leaves everything else untouched in hopes of preserving his memory (hence the dust built up on the desk) (and thank u to those who noticed)
it has been a very long time since i've done portraits like these so. why not test out a new style by redesigning my favorites
(some design notes below)
Ok, so i've always been bothered by how pale red is when we see him in sun and moon. hes been living on top of a mountain for like 7 years!!!! hes going to have a tan!!!!!! I would've given him freckles but i got too lazy. theyre there in spirit.
I think red is 100% asian.. maybe logically he would be japanese but i like to project on my favs so in my heart he is filipino. He def has a much more rectangular face than green... because of like, bulking or whatever. idk how it works but i'll make it work in my favor. hes buff from all that mountain training.
I also fully believe in short bangs for red i just think it's super super cute
For green, I think hes like... wasian....and also his hair is dyed. maybe. He has orange hair in-game but I've made his hair a little darker here. Let's also ignore how badly i rendered his hair... I didn't wanna figure out how all his spikes work :(
He has freckles from his pokemon journey but since he's always working at his gym, they've faded away over time. u can still see them tho. His eyebags r also deeper than red's......coffee can only keep u up so late. Oh and his face is slimmer. he works out often but not like red does. Overall green looks the same as he does in game... LMAO
ALMOST forgot to add that red's face is less symmetrical than green's because green is more conventionally attractive (im only saying this because i forgot to use the symmetry tool when rendering red's face. IT WORKS IN MY FAVOR)
anyways, i had a lot of fun drawing these two. I usually redesign them every year so ill edit this post & imbed the old drawings when i find them. :3

Iris: Noisy and Chaotic!
Steven: I’ve never had something go from making no sense to making complete sense so quickly.
The funniest thing about the fanon idea that Drayden is the one who raised the train twins, is that Drayden went "I'm going to train my kids to be the best like no one ever was, and I'll be able to pass my gym on to them" only he trained them TOO well, and this happened not once, not twice, but THREE WHOLE TIMES (if you include Iris, and why wouldn't you?)
I imagine Drayden getting the news that his kid(s) beat the champion or became battle facility heads, and he just sighs and goes "d*MN it! Not again! I've got to stop making my successors so obscenely powerful, I'll never retire at this rate!"
