i sure would enjoy mystery novels a lot more if i could remember the names of the characters
Hello knitting community, I need advice.
It's my first time doing colorwork and I'm unsure if I'm doing it right. The pink floats look kinda loose, but the fabric is still puckering. Does that block out while washing?
Are my floats okay? Is the tension alright? I'm normally a very tight knitter so I went up a needle size for colorwork, but I guess I knit colorwork looser?
I'm making the lumme pullover (circular yoke).

I got the first book of heaven official's blessing. It's translated in german and they choose to use "großer Bruder" (eng: big/older brother) for "gege". It's therefore a little weird to read to be honest.

My yarn order arrived. 🌞
It's honestly kinda frightening to see this huge yarn pile in my living room - the sweater will be quite heavy for sure. For context the last projects I knitted were either socks or cardigans that used up around 4 to 5 skeins.
All the yarn is from drops and it's hopefully the last time I order yarn there - don't get me wrong, they are the best option for a budget, but I don't feel comfortable anymore to order wool at such low prices.
I have a list of yarns from other brands I want to try out next: cascade 220, filcolana, etc. It's just hard to choose when you buy online, so I always get back to drops, because I know what kind of quality I'm getting.

For my porcelain sweater I'm sticking to the colors used in the sample. I adore the classic and elegant look of the colorwork in this color scheme.
I'm planning to do a few modifications in regards to the fit. The sample is made with around 20 cm positive ease, however I would like to have mine a bit more fitted. The recommended yarns are rather thin and the sweater seems to turn out really light and see through. I opted for a more dense fabric, to wear the sweater in winter.
On top I plan to to the ribbing in twisted rib, to give it a neater look. Hopefully I have enough blue yarn, so I can add a blue stripe at the last rows of the ribbing.

He loves the sheepy yarn smell.

Currently working on my second petal drop sock by 'handmade by florence'. The lace looks so lovely, while being surprisingly easy to knot, that I'm planning to make fingerless gloves in the same lace pattern in the future.
I have a month long break between exams and I'm so excited to finish these socks!
we don’t talk enough about taskmaster being on youtube for free. i don’t mean someone uploaded the episodes to youtube i mean The Official Taskmaster Youtube has every single episode on their channel, in their entirety, For Free. they want their show to be internationally available for everyone to watch. every episode goes up the day after it airs in the uk. you can just go watch the entire show legally. for free. on youtube. go do that!!
I really want to knit something! I just need to buy some yarn and I'm procrastinating since over two weeks. It's just that I can't decide which sweater I want to knit - they are all so pretty!
But how many new sweaters do I really need? Maybe 3 additional to my current wardrobe, at most.
Apparently, some companies now are labeling mass-produced crochet items with "machine crocheted" to justify selling an entire granny square vest for 14 bucks.
1. Machines cannot crochet.
2. Knitting machines, to my knowledge, cannot make granny squares.
3. Even if there was a machine that could crochet, 14 bucks for an entire fucking vest is still too low to be paying people a livable wage basically anywhere in the world.
4. It takes me, a very fast crocheter, about twenty minutes to make one granny square in a single color with five rows. Multi-color granny squares take more time. I'll say 30 minutes. Next time you see a granny square anything in a big box store, count one row of squares and multiply by 20 (for single color squares) or 30 (multicolor squares). Then consider that it's skilled labor which should have an hourly wage you can live on. Then look at the price tag. This is Victorian piece work poor shit going on.
Knitting update
Finished
My april cardigan is drying in the sun. It's pretty hot outside, so it won't take long until I can sew the buttons on and wear the cardigan.
Wips
My next project will be the arctic light sweater.
After lot's of pros and cons I picked drops daisy and hope for the best. It's not the best quality yarn and I'm pretty sure they aren't the most animal friendly brand out there, but because of the many skeins needed any other brand ended up too pricey.
Plans and future projects
I plan to use knitting for olive (robinson wrap cardigan and matching top in cherry blossom) , lana grossa (goostavo sweater) and filcolana (daisy sweater) for my next three projects in fall/winter. On top I have peer gynt (moby sweater) and knitting for olive glover green and poppy blue (cloud sweater) at home and should probably finish my wips...
i’m so excited for wednesday!!! i’m gonna buy yarn so that i can make a sweater with these vibes
i am totally ignoring the fact that they’re all wearing gloomy monotonous colours rn but i’m gonna make a sweater with this funfetti vibe. it’s going to be so colourful that it makes me SICK

Currently I'm knitting on the second sleeve of my april cardigan, that I'll be hopefully finish in the next two weeks max. Therefore it's time to plan my next project, so that I don't need to wait too long for my yarn order.
My mother asked for a cardigan or sweater for herself. It's going to be a looong process, picking a pattern and searching for a good yarn, so I'll need something to knit on in between.
My other two unfinished wips (my moby sweater and my cloud sweater) wil I finish someday, but not right now.
I'm not sure what to knit next...
Daisy sweater
• I love the design and the fit looks okay.
• Yarn: The designer doesn't recommend yarn to my liking. I could probably substitute with knitting for olive, but they don't have any nice pinks. I don't know any other good fingering yarn.
• It's knitted on tiny needles. It'll take me some time to knit this sweater for sure.
• I like my sweaters really warm and I don't know if it's going to be thick enough.
Anemone sweater
• It's knitted flat. Not sure if I want to work the wrong side with all these floats. I would prefer it as a raglan, but my skills are not that good to change the construction.
• Gorgeous design. I would like to make one with pink, yellow and light pink flower buds.
• Yarn: It's knitting with mohair and merino held double. I find mohair itchy and would like to not use it, but I would also prefer if the sweater lasts long.
• If I buy the merino and mohair from knitting for olive it'll cost me a fortune.
• It's knitted on tiny needles.
Fruity sweater
• Other people commented that the pattern isn't well written.
• The fit seems weird. I could probably make a pattern myself for a raglan and add the strawberries on in the knitting. It's just so much thinking.
• The fluffy yarn looks cute and maybe drops air would be a good match. I'm just worried because I have really sensitive skin.
Saski sweater
• I love the bunnies, however the rest of the design isn't really my vibe.
• Would be a good start to make my first colorwork sweater. It's knitted in the round and only the yoke has a difficult motive.
• Not sure which color combination would work best, as I'm leaning more towards pinks.
Arctic light sweater
• I love the design and it's been sitting really long on my knitting -plans-list.
• I'm not a fan of the neck shaping and some people shared other ways to make it look neater.
• What's keeping me from starting this project is the big cable in the middle. On some other sweaters the middle cable looks really prominent and sits weird between the chest. I'm thinking about switching the cable for something different, but I'm not sure what would fit the vibe of the other cables.
• It's going to be a time-consuming knit.
I would simply like something fun, pink and cute to knit. I don't want to think so much about the construction part.
If you have any similar patterns in mind please comment.
This isn't a great week for me personally.
I don't know what got into me to accept this job offer. It's so bad... My professor's vibes are kind off weird, I would get definitely more money at any cashier job, and he made it clear that he hasn't any other employees (maybe I would be his first employee ever). The job is literally called "student for helping", but it seems he expects more than "helping".
I haven't sighed the contract, but I'm to shy to back out. Seems like I'll be working the next three months and train an ai to pick up plastic out of dirt.
My robinson wrap Cardigan is finished! I'm sooo in love with the fit
