Why Tumblr? Why do you, an actual celebrity, a famous writer, use Tumblr of all websites?
(The actual celebrity and famous writer sits back in his rocking chair, surveys the world of Tumblr, from his porch. He chews meditatively on a straw, and then he says:)
TACAFW: Y'see, I've been here for nigh on twelve years now, which in new-fangled internet years is about four hundred years... yup, I remember when all this wuz just folks trading photos of cats, and I remember when over there, where it's now just waste land, that whole part of town was whut we used to call 'Not safe for work" -- hooey, I don't know where those folks went, when they got driv out of town -- but me, through those twelve years, I've just been in this old rockin' chair on this old porch, and I've seen 'em come and I've seen 'em go... I guess I mus' just' like it here...

Why do you find that so hard to believe? You saw what happened here.
Loving Vincent (2017) Directed by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman
Beauty exists because life exists. Vibrant plants look best when they’re well taken care of. Fields of green and patches of grass look best when they’re watered regularly. You can tell when a pet is doing well, fed well, brushed and washed and loved. In people, someone’s kindness makes them more beautiful. Someone’s sense of humor. The snort when they laugh. The way they mispronounce certain words, their habits, their individuality. The color in their cheeks, the little scars and the stories behind them (fell off of a trampoline, thought I could swing without holding onto anything, my sister hit me with the remote because we were fighting over the remote—and the way they laugh or shake their head telling the story). Expressing their emotions. Being fragile and soft. Being loud and talkative. Beauty is so interesting because it goes farther than outward appearances, and sometimes even seems to affect it. I think, the more unapologetically alive you are, the more beautiful you are. The more you find beauty in other people, in the depths of them and not just the way they look, the more you’ll find it in yourself.
“ I think, the more unapologetically alive you are, the more beautiful you are. “

But on a Wednesday in a cafe, I watched it begin again.
i love when taylor uses dialogue in her music like
i made a joke “well it’s made for me”
“i rent a place on cornelia street” i say casually in the car
and i scream “for whatever it’s worth, i love you, ain’t that the worst thing you’ve ever heard?”
so he calls me up and he’s like “i still love you”
she said “james, get in, let’s drive”
your eyes whispered “have we met?”
like!! it just makes me feeling like i’m in the conversation that she’s having with someone
“The serum amplifies everything that is inside, so good becomes great; bad becomes worse. This is why you were chosen. Because the strong man who has known power all his life, may lose respect for that power, but a weak man knows the value of strength, and knows… compassion.”
god but the thing about fearless that was so important when it was released, and the thing that still makes it have so much impact all these years later, is because this was a teenage girl entering a male dominated music scene and saying, “no, i’m going to sing about my feelings, i am going to be open about my emotions, i am going to tell my stories.” it was so openly and honestly an album by a teenage girl, and that’s what made it so endearing. that’s what drew so many people to taylor, people who have now stuck around for over a decade, people who grew up with her. it was an album about crushes and puppy love and your best friend and your mother and the first day of high school and all those little moments in your life that seemed so huge at the time. she named names, she recounted specific details, she made sure we knew exactly what she was feeling and exactly who she was talking about. that’s what made it stand out, that’s why it put taylor on the map. it was an album that wanted to be a voice of young girls everywhere. and now she’s revisiting it, and she’s not as young as she once was, but she’s still honest and emotional and tells her own stories. and she’s kind to the girl she once was. treats every song that she wrote as a teenager with as much care and love as she did when she first recorded them, because taylor knows how important they were. how important they are. to the young girl who wrote them, and to the people they inspired everywhere.
In the middle of the night when I’m in this dream it’s like a million little stars spelling out your name...
i just feel like the act of constantly doing limited merch drops is in such bad taste when your target audience is teenagers/young adults who mostly work minimum wage (or don’t work at all) and need to be able to save and set aside funds for things like merchandise while balancing their living expenses, esp right now
doing one like once or twice a year for a really super fantastic item is cool! but when it’s every single thing that you release with limited stock or limited time to get one it’s like.. draining. Most people in the fandom that I’ve spoken to about this just feel like there’s no reason to buy merch anymore because it’s too stressful, there’s too much pressure to get something quickly and hope that that $50 you just dropped on a t-shirt was worth it and that they don’t come out tomorrow with something else you would’ve rather had. Almost $40-$50 for a single t-shirt is objectively a lot especially for an artist whose merch team can afford to sell for a lot more reasonably priced and they would probably sell more stuff if they actually made everything available for weeks or months so that people could save for their desired purchase rather than pass up something they want because they can’t drop money irresponsibly.

being 25 is like: im dying. im living my best life. im a failure. my life hasnt started. everything interesting has already happened to me. im achieving my dreams. im cutting my hair with kitchen scissors. im starting a skincare routine. im a corporate professional. im a sellout. im out of groceries. i have too many groceries. i am never going to be successful. i am going to win a hugo award before im 30. im crazy. im boring. i need to finish this essay. i need to finish this story. i need to start a newsletter. i need to start tweeting more. i need to stop tweeting. i need to ghost all my friends. i need to tell my friends i love them. i need to find a new apartment. i need to take out the trash. i am the trash that needs to be taken out.
Can we all just appreciate that Alex Hirsch, creator of Gravity Falls, was prank calling Republican voter fraud hotlines on November 6, 2020?
He framed an article talking about this and keeps it with his other accolades.
