♡ words: 2064
♡ A/N: bear with me, ive never written a fic for Marvel let alone Bob Reynolds. Anyway, let me know if you want a part 2
Yelena's groan echoes through the Thunderbolt's tower around mid-afternoon, and when she finally walks over to where Bob peacefully resides in the armchair he’s grown accustomed to over the past few days, she taps his shoulder impatiently. A glare that only she can possess is met with soft blue eyes, full of concern and confusion.
“Bob…” Yelena’s tone hints at disappointment as she lowers her gaze to look down upon him; his face fills with guilt (not that there is anything to be guilty of), and he immediately tugs on the sleeves of his blue sweater. “You’ve been stuck in that stupid chair for so long; it's time you got out.” The chair in question sits at the far end of the watchtower's common room, overlooking the New York skyline, and has recently become Bob's safe space after the events of the void.
Her voice is persistent and leaves no room for negotiation, so Bob slowly nods his head in understanding and places his book down on the side table. His hand nervously scratches the back of his neck as he looks up at Yelena with scrunched eyebrows. "I know, I just don't know if I'm…ready?" As he says it, Yelena can practically feel the anxiety produced by Bob, and she drops the stern glare for a more neutral face.
"We'll take it one step at a time, but I need you to get out of the tower; maybe see some other people," she says with a shrug. "Just do something other than sit in that chair."
And that's exactly how Bob ended up in front of the local library with Yelena at his side, the wind doing nothing to soothe his nerves as he unconsciously tugged on the sleeves of his sweater. His voice is scratchy as he speaks, "Are you sure about this? I mean, maybe we can do this another day—" An impatient Yelena drags him inside before he can finish his sentence.
The air inside the library is warm, with the soft ambient lights overhead creating a comfortable space; it's as if they're transported into an entirely different world from the depressing overcast that threatens to surround New York. The air inside is heavy with the smell of old paper and coffee, and the soft rug beneath their feet feels like walking on clouds. Yelena can feel Bob's entire body relax, and gives herself a soft smile. "So... what do you think?" she says, smirking as she looks at Bob, but his eyes seem to be fixated on something in front of him. Yelena follows Bob's line of sight, and her eyes land on a girl quietly shelving books and pushing a cart around.
Yelena bumps Bob's shoulder, and he whips his head to look down at her, snapping out of his trance-like state. Yelena can practically see the slight twinkle in his eyes, and she gives a knowing smile. "Find something nice?" Bob can practically feel his entire face heating up as Yelena teases him. "Come on, let's take a look around the book place, maybe we can find you something to enjoy." She shrugs and pushes him towards one of the shelves.
Bob could barely focus on finding a book when his eyes just landed on the one person in this world that demanded a spotlight to be put upon them, the kind of person that can light up a room just by stepping inside it, and the one person that's able to drown out all the noise that continuously clouds his mind. His footsteps are unconscious, and his mind replays the image of the girl, standing there trying to find the correct place to slide the unstacked book into, and he cannot believe she’s real.
His hip suddenly slams into a strange metal object, and he's brought back down to reality, only this time, the girl of his daydreams stands in front of him, her face concerned as she speaks. He’s barely listening to what she's saying; it's as if she interrupts all of his senses, and all he can do is stand there and look at her, at you…
“Um… are you ok?” you ask, a hint of uncertainty creeping into your voice. You've asked the man in front of you a couple of times if he's ok. He took a bit of a bump to your book cart, but he keeps staring at you. He seems to have heard you after the third time, and a nervous blush settles over his soft features. His gaze, equally as anxious, flickers rapidly around the room, trying desperately to look anywhere but in your direction, as he lets out a laugh. “Yeah, I'm fine, I'm…fine,” Bob can’t help but stutter as his eyes meet yours. His hand rubs the back of his neck as he awkwardly steps aside to let the cart of books pass. His eyes drop to the floor, but after a beat, he risks sneaking a glance. However, you already seem to be looking at him, your head tilted slightly in a way that makes his heart beat faster and his brain short-circuit.
“Um, ok… well I'm just gonna take these back to the counter then,” you move the cart around him and head back to the front desk, settling down on the plush chair behind the counter. You find it kind of cute the way his shaggy brown hair falls over his eyes when he looks at you, the way his soft facial features are often coated in a nervous blush, and the way he continuously tugs on the sleeves of his navy sweater —a way to occupy his mind and hands alike. The few books left in your cart are to be left for inventory checking, and as you pick up the first book, a low, tense exchange a few paces in front of you disrupts your thoughts. Through the large vase of flowers, you inspect the low rumble of an argument arising and look through the petals of your large lily bouquet to discreetly eavesdrop.
It's a quiet Thursday evening, the sunset is slow in its descent as it pours through the large paneled windows, so it's unusual to hear a scuffle happening, especially in a library. You lift your head to see the awkward man who had bumped into your cart in deep conversation with a short blonde woman. They seem to be having an altercation, with the blonde woman carrying the argument across the room. “- just go up to her … I can't… moping around the whole time,” the bits that you do hear from the woman drift through the room in a tone mixed with frustration and impatience.
You focus your attention on the books in front of you, choosing not to meddle in conversations that are not of your concern and to finish the little work you've left for this afternoon. You're deep into scanning the last bunch of books around you when a looming presence invades the space in front of the counter. You look up to see the shaggy brown-haired man standing in front of you, cheeks a color of crimson that reaches his ears in a light pink. His stance is timid as he looks anywhere but your eyes; you try to give the most reassuring smile you can manage, hoping to comfort him.
“Hi, what can I do for you today?” His eyes finally meet yours. They're a gorgeous color of blue – a hue so deep it could be mistaken for black – but you notice how they imitate the sky’s color before midnight, often faintly lit by surrounding stars, just like the slight twinkle in his eyes. His eyes dart toward the floor, and a beat of uncomfortable silence settles between the two of you before you suddenly speak up. “Will you be returning or taking books out today?” Your patient voice draws his eyes to meet yours. “I... I actually need help finding a book,” there's a slight crack in his voice as if he hasn't spoken in years, and you notice how he tugs on the sleeves of his sweater. “Oh sure, what are you looking for?” You stand up from your chair, but his height almost makes you stumble back into it. You’d forgotten how tall he was from your previous encounter, but you give a smile as you lead him toward the adult fiction section. You immediately knew where the book was as he said it. The remaining copy of “The Stranger” finds a place in Bob's hands, given to him with a kind grin.
“Anything else you’re looking for?” your voice rings in his ears, seemingly stopping his brain, and the only maneuver he can manage is a shake of his head that serves as a reply. You stare at him for a second, and when you realize he won't say anything more, you move back towards the front desk. He follows after you like a lost puppy, only a few paces behind. You open the little door behind the counter, and he diligently waits behind it. He opens his mouth to say something when a flash of beach blonde hair passes by the counter and stands beside the man. For a moment, the three of you stare at each other when suddenly the woman's loud voice cuts the tension as she asks the man (seemingly called Bob) if he has found what he was looking for. The woman casts a glance towards you when she says this, and Bob tries his best not to look at you at that moment.
He quietly places the book on the counter and gives a nod to the woman beside him. The soft noise that emanates from the scanner rings in the tension-filled air as you 3 continue to look at each other. “Is that all?” The mandatory question hangs in the air with no answer to accompany it. You look at Bob, expecting a reply, but instead, you're met with silence. After a beat, you nod your head awkwardly and scan the barcode at the back of the book. The blonde woman shoves her elbow into Bob’s side, and a groan escapes him before he answers your question. “Y-yes, i mean no…”
You stop what you're doing and look up at him, his eyes finally meeting yours. You tilt your head slightly, awaiting his request. His eyes dart around the quaint quarter the three of you are situated in, seemingly looking for something. His eyes land on the vase that sits on the counter, and he points to it sheepishly. “You're lilies…they're beautiful” you blink at him, confused by the unprovoked compliment of your lilies, and when he sees your bemused facial expression he quickly adds, “So are you – I didn't mean to imply that you're not; I mean, you're even more beautiful than they are. Much more, I mean the lilies barely even- .” his face has gone bright red by the time the blonde woman has interrupted the consistent ramblings of Bob by taking the bag and dragging him away, screaming a thank you once she’s a few paces away from the counter.
The afternoon glow shines, creating a spotlight on Bob’s ruby face, and he can barely hide the shame and embarrassment that comes when Yelena starts berating him. “I set you up for the perfect opportunity to learn her name!” she starts to pace back and front along the entrance of the library. Bob can't help but hang his head in shame and shake his head. “I know, but was it really… that bad?” “Oh, Bob, it was horrible, I mean, I could not stand to listen to your pathetic ramblings for another second.” Her hand runs through her hair as she stops, she looks at him with a face that implies deep concentration, and slightly shakes her head. “We can fix this,” she points a finger between the two of them, “we can figure out a way to get you to converse with her without any… problems.”
Bob’s face scrunches up in concern, “Are you sure, I mean I practically bombed the first and only interaction I've had with her, and I wouldn’t want to see me again either. Maybe it's better if we just stay home, I could do the dishes tonight…”
“No, Bob, shut up, don't think like that. We can do this – you can do this… you've just got to try again tomorrow. And think I've got just the right way to do it…”
You look at yourself in the mirror for the umpteenth time, contemplating whether you should change your dress once again. Before you can turn around to go to your wardrobe, strong arms wrap around your abdomen, holding you still. The butterflies in your stomach indicate who is behind you, and the soft kisses planted on your neck further confirm this guess.
"Are you almost ready to go?" you ask your boyfriend as you look at the two of you in the mirror and smile. "I've been ready for about 10 minutes," he says and gives you another kiss on your neck before stepping away and putting an arm lazily around it. "The question is, are you ready?" You roll your eyes and reply with a simple "yeah," and turn around to look for your bag. Before you can even think about stepping forward to retrieve it, your boyfriend already has it in his hands with a sly smirk, "How many times do I have to tell you, I've got this?"
You give a slight huff, a small smile appearing on your face as you watch him balance all the bags in his large hands. "Are you sure you've got it all under control?" A determined look crosses his face as he nods his head. He somehow manages to open the door without dropping any of the bags, and you two are now walking to this new spot he found. "What are we even going to do when we get there, and why the hell do we need so many bags?" he turns his head to look down at you, a smirk emerging on his face at your confusion. "All in good time, baby."
After a few minutes of trying to uncover where H/n is taking you by pestering him, he clears his throat and nods towards the spot in front of you. You'd been so immersed in finding out where he's taking you, you hadn't even realised you had arrived. A small gasp escapes your lips as you take in the scenery in front of you. Bright flowers in front of you complement the river in front of them while lush grass beneath your feet and the trees that stand tall and seclude this area add that bit of protection from the outside world. You look up at H/n to see him already staring at you with a soft smile. "How did you even find this place?" He simply shrugs his shoulders before placing the bags down and pulling out the contents within.
"I decided to take a detour on my normal trail one time and stumbled upon this place," he says as he sets out the picnic blanket. “I thought that it was the perfect place to take my girl” He says with a smile. You sit down on the picnic blanket and help unpack the rest of the food from the bags. You pull out an assortment of berries and grapes, and watch as he lays out the cheeses and crackers in front of you. He silently pulls out one more thing from his bag. You don't miss the faint blush on his cheeks when you smile at him as he pulls out a potpourri of your favourite flowers. "Thank you for doing this, H/n," he takes your hand and interlocks his fingers with yours. "It's nothing, Y/n, I'd do anything for you." his face is soft and genuine as he says this, as if he's making a promise.
As you look out at the afternoon sun on the horizon, you breathe in the smells around you and let your senses unveil the feelings inside you. The warmth of the sun matches the warmth of the grass beneath you. The crackers and cheese taste of spring in your mouth, and the feeling of H/n against your body adds to that secluded feeling that the forest gave you. You lean further into H/n's side as he wraps an arm around you, and for a moment, the two of you just exist. The glaring rays of the sun start to fade as they become lost within the trees, and you sigh softly. "Is it not so beautiful?" you say, referring to the sun. You look up at H/n to see him already staring down at you. "It is," his voice is soft as he replies, and his gentle gaze immediately causes another wave of butterflies to take over your stomach.
You reach over to take another strawberry from the packet, and just as you bite into it, you feel a sudden drop on your head. You look perplexed as you look at H/n. "Did you feel that?" H/n looks down at you in confusion, "Feel what?" Another droplet falls on your head, and you look up at the sky this time. "I think it's about to rain," just as you say that, more raindrops hit your head. You feel H/n immediately do damage control on the banquet in front of you and laugh as he struggles to get the food in order. By this point, the rain is falling hard, but the sensation makes you feel alive. You stand up and pull H/n up with you. He takes you in his arms, you lean into the warmth his body provides, and gently sway with him.
"I'm sorry, Y/n," you suddenly hear his gentle voice from above you. "For what?" you reply, racking through your mind for anything he could have done wrong and coming up empty. "I just wanted this day to be perfect, the rain kind of ruined it." You laugh at his sweet response. How did you ever find a boyfriend so kind? "H/n, if anything, the rain made it better. This entire date, day, and picnic was perfect. thank you." you feel his tense muscles soften at your response and his reply just makes the end of the date even sweeter. "My girl always knows how to brighten up any situation."

♡ Summary: A few months after you and Eggsy have had a baby, you walk into the kitchen to find a heartwarming surprise...
♡ words: 512
The morning light shines through your window and onto your face. You groan as you reach for your phone to check the time. Almost 10:00. Realisation dawns on you; for the first time in months, you’ve managed to sleep through the night. no restless tossing, no waking up 10 times like usual. Just deep, uninterrupted rest. It's a feeling you almost forgot existed.
You sit up slowly, leaning your head against the plush headboard as you stretch your muscles. As you take a moment to fully wake up, savouring this moment of peace, confusion settles over you—the house is quieter than it usually is. Too quiet. You get out of bed and slowly walk towards the nursery. You hear the soft music from the mobile and a smile crosses over your face as you open the door. But when you push the door open, the room is empty. A slight jolt of panic washes over you, but you will yourself to calm down.
You rework your mind through last night's events. You remember putting the baby down. You remember the way Eggsy’s strong arms wrapped around you, providing that warmth you had missed, as you settled down on the couch. You remembered the way he kissed your cheek softly, slowly trailing down to your neck. You remember the way he carried you up to the bedroom you had shared and how he had whispered sweet nothings in your ear the entire time, making you laugh. You then remember the cry of your baby and the way Eggsy’s voice was low and soothing as he whispered against your ear, “I’ve got this." After that, the only memory you recall is darkness.
You softly close the door of the nursery and walk towards the kitchen. You hear the low murmur of Eggsy's voice and the smell of eggs elicits a smile from your face. When you enter the kitchen, you see your baby on the high chair and Eggsy by the stove. For a moment, you stand there, watching the two of them. A familiar warmth fills your heart. And then Eggsy turns, as he catches sight of you, his cheeky grin appears on his face. He walks over to you, his strong, warm arms wrapping around your frame. You practically melt into him as he whispers a "Good morning, love" into your ear.
"Morning," you reply as you two split apart. You walk to your island table and sit down next to your baby, wiping some porridge off of her cheek and giggling as she babbles at you. Eggsy leans over the island and tilts his head slightly, looking at the two of you. “How’s my princess doing this morning?” He says with a cheeky smile, “She looks good,” you say as you look at your baby. You feel a movement behind you, then strong familiar arms wrap around your waist. A shiver runs through you at the familiar embrace, his quiet strength pressing close. A gentle kiss lands on your cheek, sending a smile to your lips just as his voice drops to a low whisper. “I was talking to you.”
♡ Summary: Eggsy comes back from a mission to greet you at the front door with a special present
♡ words: 522
The heat from the crackling fire is almost... non-existent. You try adding more and more logs to the hearth but the fire dies out. It's an absolute catastrophe, all the fire equipment is lying around the carpet in front of and the house seems to get even more freezing as you try to reach for another match. Your shiver doesn't go unnoticed by JB as he curls up close to you, the soft breathing offers some comfort to your rising nerves. "Sorry JB, I'm not so good at setting up a fireplace am I?" your question is answered with a look from JB that expresses agreement. You stroke the back of JB's head, his wagging tail and panting tongue make you smile.
JB suddenly sits up, and your head tilts slightly as he runs towards the door. You suddenly hear the familiar jingle of his keys. a blush forms on your face as you scramble to greet him, You're Eggsy. When the door is opened you see Eggsy standing there, his suit is tight against his taut muscles. His slight smirk immediately gives way to the shyness you had been feeling. "you're back" you're voice is soft, as if you can't believe it. His smile grows a little wider, "I am." You step towards him and feel his strong arms envelop you like they did once before. "I missed you Eggy," you mutter into his chest, when you pull away you see a sly smirk on his face.
"What did you do..?" You know exactly what that smirk entails. "look up for me?" He expresses it as if it's a genuine question. You look up to see mistletoe in Eggsy's hand, hanging above the both of you. You give a slight shake of your head with a smile and your eyes draw back to Eggsy's. "It's mistletoe darling," you roll your eyes as he leans down waiting for your kiss. You give him a quick peck on the nose, and when he opens his eyes, the deep green stares back at you with mischief. "Well, that just won't suffice." He drops the twig and lifts you into his arms in one swift movement. You wrap your legs around him with a slight squeal and feel yourself being moved into the house.
"Eggsy put me down." you laugh as he spins you around. "Not until you give me a proper kiss," his cheeky smile makes you blush even more. You lean in to give him a more passionate kiss, the slight groan in the back of his throat makes you think that he's been waiting for this. when you pull away, his eyes look as if they're full of love, it makes your stomach flutter as he slowly puts you down. His hands stay on your waist but when his eyes start to trail away from you to stare at something behind you, you turn to face the thing he's looking at. You hear his voice from behind you, "what the hell happened to the fireplace?" you turn to face him once more and with your sweetest smile you reply "JB did it!"

♡ Summary: Eggsy and you get ready to meet your parents
♡ words: 350
"Everything ok in there Eggsy?" Eggsy has been in the bathroom for about 10 minutes now and your concerns are starting to rise. You softly knock on the door, alerting him of your impatience. You suddenly hear a shuffle from behind the door and a few seconds later you're face to face with a disheveled Eggsy and an equally disheveled tie. "You look... well..." Eggsy stands aside to let you inside the bathroom. "do you really think it looks that bad" his eyebrows are quirked up in concern as his warm ocean eyes look at you. You look down at what Eggsy is pointing to and give a slight grin. "well, I mean it could be better?" You let him down gently as you grab the tie and start fastening it.
"you don't have to worry about tonight, it's just a dinner with my parents" Your soothing techniques do little to calm his nerves as you finish with the tie. "it's not just any dinner though, I just really want to impress them." you step back to admire your work and then look up at his eyes. "you impressed me though, this night wouldn't be happening if you didn't ." you give a slight giggle as Eggsy rolls his eyes. You suddenly grab his tie and pull him in for a kiss.
Eggsys eyes are wide before melting into the warm embrace of your lips. When you two separate you see that his nerves have calmed down slightly. "you don't have to worry so much, I'll be there with you the entire time." he gives a slight nod of agreement before looking back at the full-length mirror and admiring the suit. "it looks good you Eggy," He chuckles at the nickname you give him and wraps an arm around your waist to pull you into him. You lean your head on his shoulder and feel him relax under you. "you ready?" your voice comes out soft and you watch him nod in the mirror. You take his hand in yours and you both exit the house and into your car...

♡ Summary: you and Eggsy go for a walk in the park.
♡ words: 501
You almost trip over the pebble in front of you before Eggsy catches your arm with a slight laugh. He stifles it quickly when you look at him and he looks ahead, avoiding your gaze. As you continue to hold his hand as you walk through the park, the gravel road beneath you makes a slight crunching noise, and the rest of the atmosphere is quiet. it was in the early afternoon when you suggested to Eggsy that you go outside, it had been a pretty boring day and you wanted to spend time with him. It was now late afternoon and the silence between you two was comfortable. you tilt your head slightly to look at him and see him trying to suppress his laugh before it tumbles out of him.
"oh come on, it was not that funny," you try to defend your embarrassment as he looks at you. "oh, it so was. but it's ok, you're still just as cute." He taps your nose and you roll your eyes as you move forward, walking a little more quickly as he tries to catch up with you. when you stop moving, you realize you've stumbled upon an area of the park you've never seen before. You look behind you to see Eggsy finally catching up with you. "Everything ok?" he asks, seeing your slightly confused look. 'Yeah, I've just never seen this place before. it's like it was hidden or something." Eggsy looks at you for a moment before a devilish smile comes over his face. "Wanna go check it out?"
The place is almost magical, it's weird you've never discovered it before. The plush grass beneath your feet offers a sense of peace. Eggsy has the same shocked look on his face as he studies the new "location." The trees stand tall and full while the flowers around them create the vibrant ambiance that the place exudes. Eggsy comes behind you, his hands wrap around your waist as he kisses your neck softly. You lift a hand to touch his face. "it's beautiful," you whisper to him as he gives a quiet murmur of agreeance.
It didn't take long for you to both be on the ground. Both lying in the lush grass beneath you, he looks over to you and smiles as he sees you staring dreamily at the sky. He looks back up at the sky with a slight smile. "You know that I have a crush on you right?" You give a slight laugh. " I would hope so, we're in a relationship remember?" He rolls his eyes before replying "You do know what that means though, right?" you give a slight head tilt of confusion as you try to decipher his code of questions. "It means that I'm all yours babe." you give an eye roll before you scooch over to him and give him a kiss on the nose. "I know" you whisper in his ear before he leans over and gives you kisses all over your neck.
