Trump just threatened 6 countries with United States military intervention on Air Force One during a press gaggle

He threatened Venezuela again because the VP of Venezuela is saying that America kidnapped the president (Trump did order it)

He’s threatening Cuba by saying that he’ll free them but hopes that Cubas government will collapse on its own

He’s threatening Mexico by saying that Mexico needs to get its act together

He wouldn’t be opposed to doing a strike on Colombia, to remove the current Colombian president

He says that the United States will intervene militarily in Iran if Iran continues to kill protesters (which the US does too but nobody’s ready for that conversation)

And he’s still threatening about Greenland but he will hold off for 20 days, but that the United States needs Greenland and that the EU knows that the United States needs Greenland

Anyway was the not lower grocery prices, not lower gas prices, no tax breaks for the average person, separating families because of racism and tariffs worth it? Was it MAGA? Was it single issue voters? Was it non voters?

We don’t have money to feed the poor or give everyone health insurance but we sure do have the money to start WIII. Remember this is also to distract from trump being a disgusting pedophile and being in the Epstein files

No shit, I want to see weeping and gnashing of teeth from everyone who directly or indirectly supported Donald Trump and helped enable him to this point. I want to see sobbing, pleading contrition from these people. I want to see assurances that, if innocent people in these countries are having their lives and freedoms threatened by Trump, and if we are staring down the barrel of a possible third world war and total nuclear annihilation as a possible end result of Trump's imperialism, that the people who helped enable this have at least seen the error of their ways, and have accepted their responsibility for their part in helping to bring it about.

I know it's probably not forthcoming. I know I should not hold my breath. I know these are folks who begin and end without a jot of self-awareness, that we will likely see a doubling and tripling down instead. These are the people who, when given a clear choice between a potentially problematic woman candidate and a overt fascist, chose to stamp their petulant little feet and refuse to vote for the woman candidate - not once, but twice - and will wear it like a badge of honor until the leopard is eating their faces. They can claim whatever excuses they want, but that is really all it boils down to.

hi!!!!! i’m an actual librarian who has encountered this very situation before!!!!! and while i commend & admire op’s willingness to help another patron, this is why you really really should have a library worker, not another patron whom you don’t know, assist you with tech & information related issues in the library!!! because we are trained in how to handle this exact sort of thing

tl;dr: use proton mail. i’m not gonna gatekeep this info. it does not require a cell phone number, so it’s my go to for patrons in this situation!!! while i am acutely aware of the harm done by the digital divide & how many people are getting left behind as our world gets increasingly tech dependent, the situation is not hopeless. there ARE provisions in place to help the people most affected, and those provisions are usually wearing glasses & cardigans & sitting behind the circulation desk

librarians are not glorified bookworms!!!! we are information professionals who are highly trained in how to handle these sorts of seemingly impossible binds!!!! ask us for help!!!!!! as i always tell my patrons, that’s what i get paid the big bucks for

maybe not my place since I'm not a straight person, but I truly do think a lot of straight people are just sexually incompatible with their partners without realizing it, and that's why many of them don't understand top/bottom dynamics.

like a couple where both enjoy 'receiving' but neither enjoys 'giving,' or visa versa, isn't a very compatible sexual partnership (which is like okay, you can work around that if you want), but instead of realizing that individual incompatibility, they assume that it's a universal circumstance and therefore turn-taking is required to not be selfish.

and so then they hear about dynamics outside of verse 4 verse and they're like "that sounds unfair" & it's like.. tops & bottoms are deciding and vocally communicating what they want out of sex and getting it. there is no one being wronged in this equation.

like every time a woman says stone bottoms/high femmes/pillow princesses are "selfish" I wanna be like.. do you want to exclusively bottom? you can own that. they're not selfish for wanting or receiving that, and you wouldn't be either. there are people who enjoy exclusively giving, and if you communicated your preferences it'd probably be easier to find them.

I feel like straight people get jealous of gay people's sex lives, but due to homophobia also making them disgusted with gay sex they can't process what they're feeling as jealousy so it becomes moral condemnation.

You're right and you should say it. Honestly, and I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but cisheteropatriarchy and societally-ingrained Christianity (even if they are not Christian) is what has convinced them they can't "own it" or explore/discuss their sexual profile. Straight people see sexual/intimate communication as gross, cringe, immoral or perverse-- despite it being one of the healthiest things you can do. It is very much abnormal to them. I have spoken previously with straight friends and a lot of them state that they simply don't talk about their own sexuality with their partner, or would find it strange to do so. They just kind of say what they like, but then that's the extent of it. (Additionally, many straight people even find masturbation to be in the "weird" zone for them. Mostly cishet women make this statement to me.)

I think queer people are somewhat more likely to be communicating openly about their sexual preferences due to their constant need to. Because queerness already isn't seen as the "default", queer people must constantly verbalize and be able to build a sense of identity/profile around their sexual interests/preferences. But straight people don't have to do that, and it's kind of unfortunate because I feel like they'd be so much happier if they explored their sexuality. And I'm not saying like "they should try being gay" I mean like explore their sexuality within heterosexuality, if that's what they're comfortable with. Masturbate, explore giving/receiving, try kink, etc. And learn how to effectively communicate what YOU want!! Because you should get what you want forever!! <3

Ignoring the real possibility he intentionally let himself be caught from the little we know so far Luigi Mangione's case is a fascinating combination of astonishing brilliance and confusing stupidity. This young man plans and executes his assassination and escape with such a meticulous care and calmness that it's suspected that he's a professional hitman. He comes up with Riddler-sque moves like writing his manifesto poetically on the bullets and leaving his backpack behind full of Monopoly money. He carefully wears a mask to avoid being identified but removes it because a woman who was checking him into the hostel was flirting with him and wanted to see his smile. He still manages to escape the most surveilled city in the country in the midst of ongoing national manhunt only to get caught in the middle of bumfuck nowhere Pennsylvania while eating at the McDonalds. Because for some reason he had the same clothes and mask as in New York and was carrying the same gun and suppressor. And when the cops detained him he showed them the same fake id he used in New York. And oh yeah he's a frat bro gym rat who has a masters degree in computer science from Penn but reads stupid self-help books about being on the grind and is 'anti-woke' while being bisexual suffering from anxiety and wanting to end oppressive capitalism. Not even god himself could invent a person like this

When an autistic man is mistreated for his autism, it's usually in a way that it's very rare for a man to be treated. But when an autistic woman is mistreated for her autism, it's often in a way that women are treated all the time. There are differences, but they're harder to notice.

NYT has been discouraging reporters from sharing photos of luigi mangione - not due to concerns for his safety but to dissuade sympathy - and refuses to post his alleged manifesto in full. and today, they published an opinion by bret stephens about how brian thompson is the "real working class hero" of this story.

reddit deleted luigi's account, which was completely innocuous and consisted mostly of him giving out advice in health subreddits. they're also deleting any post that includes his alleged manifesto and banning users for sharing it.

luigi yelled that this was "an insult to the intelligence of the american people" while he was being dragged by police and news pundits are framing it as a deranged and violent outburst. news media are picking apart details of his life to paint him as a cold-blooded and mentally ill individual. even something as innocent as playing "among us" with friends is being framed as some insidious look into an assassin's disturbed psyche, ffs.

news media are also capitalizing on luigi's supposed "bizarre and impossible to understand" politics as an obvious way to paint him as a scary individual when the guy is... a centrist, at most. whose views are similar to those of your average college-educated white guy.

multiple news media also keep harping on about how luigi comes from a rich family. an obvious attempt to break the class solidarity that's been formed around this case by continuously trying to tell us "oh he's not like you guys" while ignoring the now pretty well-documented accounts of his multiple health struggles throughout the years.

and all this, and he hasn't even been found guilty of the crime he's allegedly committed. luigi is, as of right now, still innocent until proven guilty. and the news are trying to tear him apart because they obviously fear the symbol he's becoming for low and middle class america.

Even if he turned out to not be the shooter, the way they're treating him is shameful and the way they're framing him for his suspected crime should be just as eye-opening either way. If Luigi isn't the guy who shot Thompson, the media simply made a second martyr. I wonder how many more they'll keep making before this saga reaches some conclusion? I'm confident it won't be the one the want, either way.

Also, while I've seen the NBC article with the ridiculous Among Us take, I would really appreciate sources for the censorship claims. We can tell generally when things aren't reported (if we find them elsewhere (and my issues with Twitter as a source of unfiltered often difficult to verify stories is a post in its own right)), but with all the mis/disinformation circulating, any claim should be able to cite a source.

This is not to cast doubt! This is to attempt to hold ourselves to a degree of much needed rigor/integrity when the media and Powers That Be aren't playing fair.

I think for a lot of white people, when you call them out on their casual racism (microagressions and non-overt things), they see it as a case of hurt feelings from your point of view as opposed to a discussion of harmful practices that aid the vehicle of racism. So in response, they take it as a personal attack, rather than a learning experience, and go on the defensive by bringing up a time that you made them upset as leverage. Or they defend their actions by doubling down on the behavior at hand and dismissing your criticism as over sensitivity and emphasizing their “harmless” intent. And I think that is one of the reasons why it’s so hard to address casual and interpersonal racism with the general white population (and also other poc tbh).
