Why I Chose Edinburgh Over Ox-Bridge.
I have officially received offers from all three universities: Edinburgh, Glasgow, and York. They are conditional as I haven’t graduated yet, so I accepted Edinburgh and Glasgow (I double checked and since they are conditional I can accept but once offered unconditional I have to choose). I chose Edinburgh as my top school because I am in love with Scotland (Harry Potter nerd here lol) and I also want to live in proximity to England without living in England. Scotland is more of my vibe, especially Edinburgh, which is more relaxed and quiet than Glasgow, despite them both being huge European cities.
As I write this in the beginnings of a polar vortex, because WINTER IN NEW ENGLAND (lol), I wanna say that I fell so deeply in love with Edinburgh as soon as I visited the website. It checked off everything I needed:
-automatic accommodations for international postgraduate students
-tons of academic merit scholarships
-beautiful campus
-proximity to EVERYTHING including a sleeper train that takes you into London overnight.
-HOT SCOTSMEN
-funny and jovial AF Scottish lifestyle
-UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE VIA THE NHS
I just knew that this was my school. I knew that I more than met the credentials to be offered a letter of admission and yet I still cried when I received it. To know that I will be in Edinburgh in just a few months, living my new life, makes me brim with happiness and light and the feeling of freedom and belonging. I will continue to work hard and earn scholarships to pay for my Masters degree there because it is only for one year and then I can apply for citizenship (which i will do).
Most importantly, I feel as if I am going where my intuition and spirit are leading me to go and that...makes the work that I am putting into manifesting my dream life all the more sweeter.
