I have type 2 Narcolepsy. Studies have shown that serious viral infections can cause people to develop Narcolepsy if they are already genetically susceptible to having it. This includes covid. That is what happened to me.

Living after surviving is weird. Because most days I wake up and am afraid that I never escaped, where those few moments of sleep filled confusion I am just as afraid as I was then. But then I get up and I eat the food I bought for myself and I go to the classes I chose. I’m alone, but the quiet is free of that pain. And I go out at night and go to the small concert I found. And I laugh. And I love. And yeah, I hurt, but I’m alive. How beautiful it is to be in pain when what caused it nearly made me die. I’m alive. I’m a little different now, but I’m alive. I’m alive.
