The people of Far Harbor-- those people. Every last one of them, even that asshole Allen Lee, or grumpy ol' Longfellow. They fished him out of the sea-- they saved his god damn life and welcomed him as one of their own. They take care of him, and he takes care of them. He loves them. He'd do anything for them, and if that means dying so that they might live to see another day, Elijah wouldn't even question it.

Who ever he was, he certainly didn’t appear fit for life outside of the safety of four stone walls. Maybe he was a scientist that came from Acadia? He certainly didn’t appear to be a child of Atom, anyway. The feeling that the harbor man gets is not one of weariness, but curiousness. “What are you doing all the way out here?”

     While Arcade’s intention hadn’t necessarily been to come out this far his innate sense of curiosity had gotten the better of him anyway. There were plant life and animal life here he hadn’t seen before - mutations brought on by growing on such an otherwise small, closed off island. He’d even managed to gather some of the nontoxic samples to haul back with him whenever he reached any form of civilization again to study!

     However the voice, unexpected and surprising, did cause the researcher to semi-jerk to his immediate right - head immediately turning to try to track the source of the sound which had shattered the however momentary silence. “I was gathering some plant samples for my research, but I apologize if I’ve unwittingly intruded on your land.”

It had become something of a habit for Elijah to walk The Island. He had been doing it long enough that he sort of remembered the less dangerous paths like the back of his hand. Like some, he would venture off the beaten path-- and find others just like him. Curious. Scavenging-- or in this gentleman's case; gathering samples of the various flora. Different here than on the Mainland. "That's all right, You'll never catch me impeding scientific progress. Sheesh, for all I know, these plants could be the key to reviving this planet." A chuckle.

This wasn't 'his' land after all--this was simply The Island, and The Island didn't really belong to anyone. Or at least that's how Elijah felt, and he was no more than its keeper-- sometimes life saver, but this guy didn't appear to need any saving. "You should be more careful though, some of the creatures out here will hide in the trees-- get the drop on you that way. It'll be too late before you even realize."

With a fog this thick, it is difficult for her to make out where exactly the shadow has gone off to. A sinking feeling forms in the pit of her stomach as her sprint slows into a jog, and then into a brisk walk. “You’ve got to be kidding me.” She sighs, coming to a complete halt while futilely straining to see through the swirling cloud of green.

She’s all but ready to turn and head back toward the rubble she’s called home for over two centuries until a male voice erupts from somewhere in front of her and nearly causes her to have a heart attack on the spot. “You’re still here!” A bright smile forms across her marred lips and hot tears well in her eyes. The joy flooding the empty cavity beside her heart is premature but she just can’t help it. Maybe she will finally be rescued from this hellhole she’s been damned to for all of these years.

“Thank you      God, thank you. We can go back to the plane where I came from…or d’you mean actually get out of here?”

For a Ghoul, she was certainly capable of emoting-- all the others he'd come across were..hardened, to say the least. He offers his own smile, not as bright as hers but still just as good, although it be masked by the cover of his helmet. It wasn't his place to wipe the tears from her Ghoulish eyes and tell her it was all going to be okay, but he'd certainly like to. It's the thought that counts. "I could only hear you faintly over the ticking of the geiger counter. It's unfortunate that we didn't get to each other sooner. Are you all right?"

There were many questions that the ex-soldier had-- all that could wait for a better time, If he had stayed there any longer he'd likely become a Ghoul-- or y'know, like, die. Elijah cannot help but laugh. "Ma'am, you and yours might be able to walk this place with no trouble, but if I took my helmet off for all of five minutes in these parts--- I'd be dead." He raises his hand to point away of the direction they had been standing.

"There's a park on the outskirts of here that isn't so bad-- definitely isn't scourged with radiation either. Not as safe as one of the big settlements, but it'll have to do for now."
