The Jamerson family had always been one of the closest in town, family friends and neighbors alike whispering about how borderline unhealthy it was that all five of them were so close, in a relationship that would give the Brady Bunch a run for its money. But in reality, Mr. and Mrs. Jamerson and their three daughters were nothing more than a typical functional family, one that had no secrets between them and spent much of their time together. Meredith was the oldest of the group, starting a precedent of darling Jamerson daughters that were well behaved, listened to their parents, and were excellent at posing for family portraits to put above their fireplace. The Jamerson daughters were brought up in a lap of luxury, in a great big house just shy of a white picket fence and golden retriever. Meredith's childhood memories are some of the greatest parts of her life, going on camping trips or long car rides with her family. There were no secrets in the Jamerson home -- or at least, so Meredith thought. She was nine years old when her parents were killed in a car crash, shocking everyone to the core. But nobody was as completely heartbroken as the three children they left behind in the mix, their youngest daughter being only four years old at the time. Meredith and her sisters went from daughters to orphans in a matter of minutes. Their parents had made sure everything would be perfect for them in case something like this did occur, setting them up with everything they could need: a new guardian, their estranged grandmother, and a comfy trust fund that included the deed to their childhood home. Unfortunately their grandmother refused to move into the home, so instead the three girls were shipped off to San Francisco to meet the grandma they had never known.
Their grandmother was a fine guardian, giving the three girls just as much nice things as their parents had. Unlike them the woman did not work, which meant more time spent alone in the house with their grandmother, as well as the maids and cooks she had working for her. Yet with all those people around the house, the Jamerson's new home felt a lot lonelier without their mom or dad. Only time could heal their wounds, and eventually it did, though all three of the girls would always carry their parent's memory with them. Their grandmother, however, was not the warmest woman, so all the love and support the three sisters were given were from each other, a strong bond forming between them. Though Meredith was the oldest by two years, her middle sister Eloise was the maternal figure, making sure their youngest sister Sage was protected as much as possible, while also watching to make sure Meredith kept her cool at all times. Even at a young age, Meredith was a spitfire, unable to keep her opinions to herself, or the passion out of her eyes. Their living situation wasn't ideal, and their grandmother wasn't Meredith's favorite person, but Eloise kept them all in line, knowing it would only be so long until they could escape the walls of that stuffy home.
Meredith's grandmother didn't pass away until she was twenty-one, and by then a lot was going on. The oldest sister was nearly done with her college degree, going to a state school not too far they lived, still with the old woman. Eloise was nineteen and working two jobs to save up for the future while Sage was finishing high school, with the plan for them all to move back to their childhood home once she turned eighteen. Compared to their parent's death, their grandmother didn't leave them much, just one thing that meant the world to them: freedom. Meredith was able to get custody of Sage for her remaining minor years, and together the sisters went back to their old house, refurbishing the abandoned place and making it their forever home. One night Meredith was cleaning out her parent's room when she came across the most unusual thing in such an ordinary house: a trap door, one that led to a panic room that held quite the arsenal of weapons. With more digging through the rest of the house, slowly pieces started getting fit together, and the Jamerson sisters found out the truth about their family -- their parents had been secret supernatural hunters, and from the looks of it, they highly doubted they had lost their lives by anything other than their apparent profession.
The revelation struck all three girls quite hard. Of course Meredith and them had known about the supernatural -- it was hard not to hear about it, when it was such a rising issue in the country. But it had never really affected her until she realized that they were the cause for her parent's death, the reason her family had been broken for so long. The three of them decided together that they had to make this right. So they followed in their parent's footsteps, using their research books and studying up on all the fighting styles they could find to transform themselves into hunters their parents would be proud of. While Eloise and Sage had some trouble at first, Meredith was a natural; for the first time the woman had realized she found her calling, studying more than she ever had in college, and becoming the one to help teach her sisters everything she learned. After almost a year of practicing their moves, Meredith told them the only way they could get better was to put them in action. So they went on their first hunt, when most hunters would've told them they were asking for a death wish, considering they had no other experience or outsider knowledge. But instead they made their first kill together, an omega werewolf, and from there it only got better. The girls got better with each passing hunt, and more popular in the hunting community. Other hunters around the country couldn't stop gossiping about the three sisters who rose from their parent's ashes and made a name for themselves, and a good one at that.
It was exactly ten years after their grandmother's death that tragedy struck once more. The girls were asleep at home when a group of vampires ambushed them in the middle of the night, catching them completely off guard. Meredith had to watch with horror as her sisters were killed right in front of her, though not without putting up a good fight. It was by nothing more than sheer luck that the woman was able to escape with her life, before the vampires lit the entire house on fire. There was no doubt the next day there'd be talk about how Meredith was coincidentally the only Jamerson daughter that lived, but she didn't give enough time to hear it. The woman moved across the country, as far as she possibly could from California, only to spend her free time day drinking in bars across the east coast. With no family, no anchor, and no desire to go near another vampire again, Meredith let the vices of alcohol and men consume her, so she didn't have to think about her sister's screams, or her childhood home burnt to the ground. It wasn't until six months ago that Meredith heard about a group of vampires attacking a small town in Georgia. It wasn't something out of the ordinary lately, but the news resonated with her more than usual. So she went and paid the town a visit, not leaving until every last vampire was dead. And just like that, Meredith knew she still had a purpose: make sure every last super paid for the pain they inflicted on Meredith's parents, and Meredith's sisters, and every other person in the world that died at the hands of magic. But the woman wasn't ready to take on hunting on her own, not after so many memories of doing it with Eloise and Sage. So she sought out a job in the American government, after hearing from a friend that they were working towards riding the country of supers for good. What she didn't expect was to be brought into a super-infested town with a group of amateurs.
Of the Jamerson sisters, Meredith had always been the one who was the most passionate about hunting, finding a way to let her lifetime of frustration out and because she knew they were making the world a better place. Though a bit rough around the edges, she was never a hard person to get along with -- at least, until the deaths of Eloise and Sage. Now people are lucky if they can get a few words out of her that aren't ice cold. Only when Meredith is flirting or drinking is she at her kindest, the two ways she'll dulled the pain of her grievances for a long time. But since getting a job, she's working hard to wean herself off her vices, as well as become a little more sociable, for the sake of her career. She was never the most trustful person to meet, but her old self was nothing compared to who she is now. She's sensitive about her past, finding no reason anybody should bother to know anything. Meredith keeps her words vague and her tone passive (borderline bored), until there's a spark in the conversation that really keeps going. But since her sister's death she has a longing to see as many supers killed as possible, no matter what the cost. She doesn't agree with the way the government is handling the Operation per say, locking the guards in there but not giving them permission to kill, but like a good soldier, Meredith will listen to directions... for now.
DEAN COOLIDGE: In the short time they’ve known each other, Dean and Meredith have become good friends, and perhaps the closest Meredith’s had to one in awhile. She serves as an unofficial second to the leader, clearly the most qualified and experienced hunter other than him within the group. They’ve known each other for only the month or so they’ve been working towards the Operation, but the two have figured out a lot about each other during that time, mostly through piecing stories together. There’s something about him that makes it easy to let her guard down and trust him, or at the very least, makes her want to trust him.
AARON REEVES & LYDIA PERKINS: Considering most of the guardsmen are either qualified and a little mundane for her, Meredith finds herself spending more time with the hunters within town, even if they are the ones posing as supers. Lydia was the first of the group Meredith had met, and immediately took a liking for the passionate blonde. Aaron, however, had surprised the hunter -- though she was told his training wasn’t much better than most of the so called “hunters” that now parade as guards, the man clearly knows what he’s doing, both in his field and with his words. He’s a charming man, that’s for sure, and while Meredith isn’t usually one to be charmed by men so easily, even she has her limits.
REYNA SANTANA: The young hunter in training has made it pretty clear since meeting her that she hopes to get some sort of mentorship or advice from Meredith, which makes her a bit wary, to be honest. It’s been a long time since she’s worked with others so closely, and Meredith isn’t sure she’s ready to spill all her secrets to the younger woman. But she does see a fire and potential in Reyna, and will certainly be keeping an eye on her during the Operation.
