#metoo in korea
I need y'all to know that while #metoo has been surging as a movement in south korea, the retaliation has been devastating.
The pence rule has been cited as a valid solution. Women are being plainly ignored in their workplace. Women are being pulled from business trips with male coworkers. Women are not being given job opportunities bc of potential exposure to male coworkers. Women are not being hired bc of the “danger” they pose to the men.
They’re not fixing the behavior of men. They’re blaming it all on women, and the women are being forced to bear the brunt of the repercussions.
The women are suffering for speaking out not just on a person by person basis of “you could’ve done better/you were seducing him”, but on a larger, systemically oppressive scale.
Rather than educating men to respect boundaries and just not sexually harass/assault women, they’re limiting the presence and mobility of women. They’re getting rid of the women in the workplace. Bc that solves the problem.
I know a lot of this is redundant, but I am angry. And embarrassed. And frustrated. When I heard about this, I was so, so disappointed. I wanted Korea to be better than this.
So please, be angry about this too. Spread it and let it be known that this is not okay. That this is unacceptable.
I know it has nothing to do with your interest in the country’s music or drama or other media/entertainment, but it is SO important that you not ignore this.

Dallas Fuel Rascal:
“AKM played Genji in scrims, because I was ‘told’ by KyKy that I clouded the team atmosphere during past games, and showed a less mature form because I got mad. After that, me and Harryhook were excluded from scrims.
What I’m ‘really’ mad and frustrated about is this: KyKy saying that I just “suddenly decided not to play”? This is completely wrong.
If you look at our schedule our match vs Florida was on the 11th, the match vs Boston on the 15th. During that period AKM was the one participating in scrims, and I never got the chance to participate, along with Harry. We only did ranked and etc. So I could never know what kind of comps they were planning. I wasn’t even invited to spectate in scrims. If they decided not to play me like that I’m pretty sure they would have had time to practice comps that didn’t involve Genji.
If they were going to use Genji, then it makes me think that they used Genji knowing beforehand that AKM was going to play it. So in other words, I had no idea AKM was practicing Genji until game day. Although things didn’t work out on the the match day, I thought it was just unlucky because AKM is also an excellent player. We just thought we had to practice harder and play better.
But in AKM’s discord he mentioned that he wanted me to say sorry. From my perspective, I was forbidden from playing the matches, because I wasn’t allowed in scrims. So I had no idea AKM was going to receive direct messages from fans and be hated like that due to his discomfort on playing Genji. If I knew there was a problem like that I would have personally announced that there was an internal problem in our team and that I was taken out from the match to fans, and apologized to AKM.“

Dallas Fuel Rascal:
“I asked KyKy exactly what was the cultural difference that I tried to force on the other players. He told me that in Western teams they have more leisure, and rest more, and do games when they need to play. And he told me not to force the Korean hard work ethic onto the other players.
The thing is, I didn’t tell the other players not to rest and keep playing games. What I said was: yes, there might be a difference between our culture regarding tryharding, but waiting for the problems to fix themselves, and trying our best to actively solve the problems is not a cultural difference issue, but just a matter of professionalism.
I thought that looking at our results recently, regardless of our tryharding, if needed, we had to practice harder. Because imo we had no time for leisure (looking at our performance)…………”
Part 3:
https://twitter.com/tisrobin311/status/978126563291021313
Dallas Fuel Rascal:
“When the AKM news was out I went to him and apologized. I told him I had no idea you were suffering this much, and didn’t know that you were forced on Genji and you didn’t have the confidence to play the hero and was hated for it, and also sorry for apologizing late. He also told me he was sorry for making this public and making it controversial.
We reconciliated and got along again, saying that we can work together, and use AKM’s hitscan / EFFECT’s Tracer / my Genji and produce good results. So you don’t need to worry about that (our relationship). As for apology, there this thing. I know I am in the process of learning English. Since I can only communicate in simple words, sometimes it is very hard to convey meanings. Things just don’t end with ‘sorry!’. So I think there was an issue with that too. I hope I can come back next stream playing games happily. I don’t want bad rumors/gossips going around. Thank you.”

someone on reddit is translating the rascal stream, so far what i’m getting is
rascal never refused to play. he just said he didnt want to play on stage without preparation (which they weren’t doing properly) and kyky interpreted it as “i don’t want to play”
rascal straight up had to teach dallas how to play dive! he had to give each player feedback and help them improve! he coached the team, instead of, oh idk, THE ACTUAL COACHES?
during the mayhem match rascal got angry and frustrated that the team wasn’t coordinating well enough, executing planned strategies well enough, and altogether not playing together well enough. and kyky took it as him being immature and throwing a temper tantrum, and forbade him and harry from taking place in scrims for the whole next week
… which was why akm was playing so much and playing genji. because rascal didn’t even get to scrim with them. not because rascal refused to play
kyky’s idea of “cultural differences”, and “imposing korean culture” on the team, was rascal saying that he thought they should practice harder because they weren’t making any clear improvements. rascal doesn’t think this has anything to do with cultural differences - sure, there may be more emphasis on working harder in korean culture, but as professionals, shouldn’t they work harder to try and fix their problems, rather than waiting for things to fix themselves? (is what he said)
though the misunderstanding and akm having to play genji wasn’t his fault, rascal even went and apologized to akm for it
tl;dr: dallas is very poorly managed
Can you post the link to the translation plz? I have only seen Robin’s on Twitter

"We’re putting our bodies on the line in the right way," said Manitoba Cree man and environmental activist Clayton Thomas-Müller.
Over 150 protesters, including two politicians, have been arrested by the Canadian authorities over the past week for their protest against the expansion of Canada’s US$7.4 billion Trans Mountain tar sands pipeline, local media reported Saturday.
The arrests of Indigenous activists, lawmakers, students, including Green Party Leader Elizabeth May and Burnaby South MP Kennedy Stewart, followed Friday’s day of action, where protesters mounted outside the gate of a Kinder Morgan construction site on Burnaby Mountain.
The demonstrators took part in nearly 50 actions across the North American country, with people taking to streets in Canada’s capital as well.
“We’re putting our bodies on the line in the right way,” said Clayton Thomas-Müller, a Manitoba Cree man and environmental activist with the group 350.org who attached himself to the gate. “Investors in Kinder Morgan, we’re putting you on notice. You need to divest from Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain projects now.”
The protesters chanted slogans, like, “Climate leaders don’t build pipelines” calling out Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who approved the project’s expansion in 2016.
“Kinder Morgan does not have consent for this project,” said Anna Gerrard, an activist with Climate Justice Edmonton who participated in a sit-in at the Kinder Morgan Canada’s downtown Calgary office on Friday, according to Common Dreams. “Second to this, our ability to proceed with a national climate strategy should not be negotiated around the construction of a massive fossil fuel project.”
“We’re standing in support of Indigenous autonomy,” she added. “We believe that it’s time for a new narrative in this country; one that is not dictated by Big Oil but instead supports life and the much-needed healing of the land and people.”

I dont get this. Why do we suddenly need better gun laws… we’re not the USA
Uh, because gun violence is still an issue in this country, and we can always do better to decrease the amount of gun violence that exists in this country.
When you exclude the USA, and compare Canada to Europe, we have the fourth-highest gun homicide rate—behind France, Germany, and Italy.
I support stronger gun control regulation in Canada, and an outright ban on weapons like the AR-15 (which is still legal in Canada).
There is this disturbing piece too that I just found :( (Suicide mention)
There is another darker, hidden toll that blights Canada – gun suicides. As the Department of Justice notes: “In Canada, about 80 per cent of firearm-related deaths are suicides.” According to gunpolicy.org, in the 35 countries in the Americas only the United States, Uruguay and Argentina have more recorded gun suicides per capita than Canada.
This is Canada’s real gun problem. Between 2003 and 2012, at least 5,616 people were reported to have shot and killed themselves. It’s a shocking firearm suicide rate, more than 12 times that of England and Wales (at about 80 firearm suicides a year).

Suicide by gun has an 82% rate of completion of the intended goal :(
