Hello folks!
Had the chance to start off with the pigeon skeletons today! So here they are;
Like your can probably see: one of them is pretty small. My theory is that the bigger one is the mother and her child fell down the shaft. She tried to feed the young bird (there were a few walnuts on the ground as well!) - but she just knew she had to get down and try to save that young bird... So I guess she jumped down? Unable to come out again...
One of its feet is missing as well, didn't find it yet so I don't know if it's stuck somewhere up in the shaft?
So yeah started with the cleaning process and decided to let them bath for a whole day. Will make it easier for me to pull away all the rest flesh and the dirt
So I just found this dead pigeon on the roadside and I just couldn't resist! Sry boss but this is in my truck now :>
Hah guess I was lying to you all!
The pigeons aren't my first project. It was a moth! Yes I just pinned an insect for the first time and even tho I made some basic mistakes it didn't turn out so badly?
So this boi was chilling for 2 days in my room. We spend some quality time together since he joined me at my "questioning life" phase at 3am. He seemed to like my music as well!
I just couldn't resist and had to pin him hehe
Finished this c.at over the course of about a month. The two front teeth were broken when I found it, but other than that it's in pretty good condition!
Hi! So, I’m a baby taxidermist (interested, but never done anything) and I found a dead dove laying in front of my house. A friend of mine, a veterinarian, picked it up and it’s currently sitting in a bag. It’s in perfect condition, except for a broken/sprained wing and it’s neck being snapped pretty decently. Where should i even start?
This post should have everything you need if you plan to clean the bird for bones. I do not have any resources on how to taxidermy a bird, however. =)
As always, please make sure to read up on the laws where you live and make sure that bird is not protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act before you continue if you live in the USA. =)
At the beginning...
I had two friends who started witchcraft. At least started researching. They told me about it, and I got interested, too, especially since they got into contact with deities; Iron, for example, got into contact with Skadi (norse goddess of hunt and winter). Shadow is in contact with the greek gods. Apollo (god of healing, archery, music, arts, sunlight and knowledge) and Artemis (goddess of the hunt, the wilderness, wild animals, the Moon, and chastity). Yet I didn’t research for quite some time. I was interested, yes, but I didn’t think I would go this way and start witchcraft. It took a while, and a few walks close to the forest nearby where I live. I didn’t enter the forest. Not because I was scared; in fact, I was not. But in front of the forest there is a bit of a small park. Probably more like a big meadow. There are quite some trees, and in some there are crows nests. A lot of them, sometimes three or four in one tree. I visited them and collected feathers that were on the ground. For some reason, I was always drawn to collecting stones and feathers. Apparently not all kids and teenagers do that?
The thing that got me to finally start my research was when I found a fox skull. I always thought of crows and (animal)skulls as something kind of magical, mysterious.
I was on another walk, not really successful with collecting feathers this time. During this walk I considered starting to actually do research, but wasn’t sure about it. As I was starting to head home, I saw something white out of the corner of my eye. A few meters away, at the foot of a hill, there was something. I walked there, and froze as I saw the fox skull.
I was excited to say the least, yet hesitated to take it. I kneeled in front of it for about five minutes before starting to carefully free it from moss and sticks and grass. It must have been there for a while, yet I didn’t see it until then. I took the skull home, carefully washed it and put it aside for when i have a place to put it.
To me, this was a sign. The confirmation that I should start my research.
So I did.
Really pleased with how this lil terrarium painting turned out on this mason jar wood cut out.
Opossum maceration is going nicely, Hopefully it’s done soon because it smells awful
A dead doe I found while working. She was most likely hit by a car, but survived and managed to walk ~20 feet away from the road into a field before collapsing and being eaten by vultures. I ended up not taking her.
Rest easy girl
Got some c.at fangs in today. Glued them in and they look good. I have polymer clay so I might try making the missing bottom fang once the jaw is all whitened and ready to go

A greasy old co.yote. The first addition to my collection.
Whelp, this guy is definitely staying. Coyote with an antemordem injury, showing the beginning stages of lead poisoning. He was shot prolly a month give or take before being trapped. You can see the bullet fragment lodged in his mandible, lodging lead directly into his bone marrow and blood vessels. The roots of his teeth were also turning green. If not for the fact that he was trapped and culled, he would have eventually died a much slower death from blood poisoning :(
Gator stack 🐊!!
So one of my friends found some really cool skulls in Sweden!!
I believe the first one is some kind of goat skull? Second one could be from a reindeer but we aren't so sure on that :>
Anygays! I just wanted to share these founds with you. Go and check him out on Instagram! www.instagram.com/fortapelse/
