ive invented (note: dubious claim) something i call the bear diet which is mostly fruits and vegetables with fish as the main protein source and something like once a month you eat a few hyperprocessed foods of your liking because that is when you, the bear, raid a dumpster in the suburbs

Glad to know who's the creator of Bloodstar/Bloodymary.

How did it happen?

I had been told a lot about project hail mary by @carhorno, I hadn’t read the book yet, and only had seen the movie trailer once, but the second I stepped out of Iron Lung I made sure to text the lovely car horn this message

The rest is history, I came up with the name Bloodstar originally (and felt so stupid not going with bloodymary bc it was RIGHT THERE) Cara posted the first fan art for bloodstar (because I’m employed and have very little energy to draw as much as I’d like)

Eventually it started growing and the name bloodstar got less and less popular but the OGs know what’s up

Anyways, love where the fandom is now, even tho it is my mind baby (and I’m sure other people’s mind babies as well) Cara, I, and all the other pre PHM movie Bloodymary/Bloodstar shippers are I’m sure all proud of the additions to the fandom and the love and growth it’s recieved

back in January, my friend @bustedjaws on tumblr dot com came to me and told me i needed to make markiplier and ryan gosling gay, and then i did. in February, i posted it, and (to my knowledge) it is the first fanart made of bloodstar, now deemed by the fandom bloodymary AND IM HONORED TO HAVE CREATED THIS SHIP

all jokes aside, even if this ship wasn't nearly as big as it currently is, i would still be shipping it to this day. and as big of an ego i have about this, this fandom and community wouldn't be what it is without everybody that ships them. like yeah did i technically make them? probably, but it's not important to me that people know my contributions to the bloodymary fandom, it's important to me that people came together to ship these two.

so many people in the fandom either stumbled across this or thought of this on their own and then found that there was a community and fandom for all of this. because the community is so kind and happy about wanting these two doomed spacemen to be happy together.

and you know what? im happy markiplier knows. im happy that he's able to see the love that we have for his blorbo and ryan gosling's blorbo, and im not ashamed of that.

yeah I like bloodymary, but not because I think Grace needs to have a relationship to be valuable as a character.

I like that Simon and Grace are two half’s of the same coin.

I like that both were betrayed by the person who meant the most to them.

I like that despite everything that happened, they both chose to hope, against all odds, that they could make it out.

I like that despite everything, they chose to give themselves up entirely for something bigger than just them.

That despite having every valid reason to give up and quit, they chose to do the hard thing, not for themselves but for others. They’re both such hopeful characters that just want to live, and both their lives mattered. They didn’t matter because they had partners or children or family, their lives mattered because they’re people. Because they just did. And I think however you want to read into that dynamic: Romantic, Platonic, Queerplatonic, Aspec, Asexual, etc, is valid and beautiful in its own way.

It’s beautiful that two people who were forced to give all of themselves for everyone else, have someone who relates and shares that burden of forced choice.
