For fun, I'm doing a series of weekly posters about fictional films. The idea behind these is a game of coming up with a random film title and then making up a storyline for it. Having had a lot of Olly Moss + Kevin Dart rolling around in my head I decided to imagine what they'd look like for realz: "Waterworks" - in 19th century Chicago, the city was literally raised to put in a sewerage system. One worker is suspected for the bodies that start appearing in the pipes. I started off by putting together a Pinterest board of references - those 19th c bowler hats, black + whites of a young Chicago and portraits of suss looking men. Sketches of this man was done in Photoshop and then painted over, using a lot of Goya as reference. The aim was to have him step out of the shadows. The painting was brought in to AE for some noise + vignettes and a finally play around with how to poster looked. Thanks to Sophie for the title!
