I miss who I was when I was reading this inevitable ruin.

What I love about this series is how the revolution is never villainised. Bad things are done in the name of rebellion (York blowing up that ship full of kids, Carl holding a dismissive attitude towards the NPCs that he regards as mere collateral, the Hunters being hunted down despite them trying to make ends meet, etc.) but these things are depicted as base violence necessary for change (to quote Silco from Arcane). Revolution is ugly but Carl and the Cookbook authors will always argue that the way crawlers are treated is way uglier - that something has to change, and that no matter the price revolution will be worth it.

This can be critiqued, and it's meant to be - this is meant to be uncomfortable! But the cause is right, no? The end justifies the means. No one got what they wanted by rolling over for their oppressors - they had to snatch it away from those who wanted to keep them wanting.
