Hey! I’m new to the DCC fandom, and I love your blog. I just finished the latest book. If you don’t mind my asking, which book is your favorite? Also which book is your least favorite? Also, why? I feel like you’ll have Thoughts™️ and I’m Nosy 👀

That being said, oh mannnn it has actually been so long since I've reread the series so I'm not 100% sure but

Favourite: This Inevitable Ruin. It's definitely this or The Butcher's Masquerade. However, I do remember that at the time of TIR's release I did a complete reread and at the time I thought TIR > TBM so I'm sticking with that.

TIR is so good because of the sheer amount of payoffs and the depths of Carl's development (or rather progressive breakdown). We have the meeting with the cookbook authors which is one of the most emotional moments in the series for me and one of my favourite scenes. We have the breakdown in Milk's arms which is a scene I have been WAITING for. There's also more Florin in this book and he's one of my favourite side characters. Honestly, I can't really list all of the amazing things in this book because there's just so many. There's the stuff with Shi Maria too and the aftermath of when she takes over which was so good. Honestly, it might've been a 5 star read and I don't give those out lightly lol.

Now my least favourite... again, it has been a while since I've read the series, and it is honestly a compliment to Matt's writing that no book immediately sticks out to me. It would probably be either Carl's Doomsday Scenario or book 1. DCC is a series that really gets better as it progresses and I think I have the most gripes with the first two books. I think book 1 really feels like it's trying to find itself at times and litrpg setup always feels a little clunky at first - also book 1 doesn't have as much politics in it as later books which is one of my favourite parts of the series. However book 2 never really stuck out to me. If I think about it, I can think of some really good moments (like the Manasa stuff and everything about that interview) but other than that it just kind of gets lost in the rest of the series I think. So yeah it's probably one of those two. I still liked them though

My toxic trait is I block people who describe DCC in a way I don't like

Adding onto this: People who dismiss DCC for endorsing the things it is criticising piss me off so bad I have to remind myself to block people instead of getting into internet arguments

They genuinely sound like they're saying: I hate The Hunger Games because it endorses violence against children. AND THEN they get MAD when you say they have no reading comprehension. IF THE BOOT FITS....
