shirley jackson i would have been there for you and also i would have killed your husband and your mom. i would have taken you on a writer’s retreat in upstate new york. i would have cooked you nice dinners and babysat your kids so you could write
"i do not dream of labour" is one of the worst pseudo-marxist taglines that western leftists have co-opted because when you ask them what they do dream of, they say traveling, studying, and creating art. broski, who's flying the plane to take you to prague? who's the security at the library with the texts you're studying? who are the clerks in the museum showcasing your art? like bro, you do dream of labour. you just dream of someone else doing it so you don't have to! you merely want to outsource the labour and make it invisible.
The entire Al Jazeera crew in Gaza City was assassinated, including its reporters and cameramen:
Reporter: Anas Al-Sharif
Reporter: Mohammed Qreiqah
Cameraman: Ibrahim Zaher

Crew driver: Mohammed Noufal
Al-Sharif killed in what appears to be a targeted Israeli attack on tent housing journalists outside al-Shifa hospital.

Nothing shuts down a bougie conversation like "well, when I was homeless—" Nothing. It's one and done. They are fucking taken out. The conversation is dead. Done.
"there's enough charities in place to help our homeless population"
Well I was turned away from every single one in the area because I was a non Christian trans person. Not that there were many I could make the walk to, to be fair.
"if someone is homeless, they can just forage for food! Probably eating healthier than we are har har har!"
I was homeless in winter. And yeah, sure, I knew how to use pine needles to make tea and boil bark but. Come on. You think every homeless person has that fucking knowledge or resources? And I was homeless on a mountain. What about people who are homeless in cities? What are they going to forage? Gravel? And what about areas where foraging is illegal? You want them to get arrested? In a police state like this?
"well as long as they don't get into trouble, there won't be trouble!"
You make laws criminalizing their existence. The "trouble" they make is surviving. I got the cops called on me because I went for a walk. I had a stick I was using to help me walk because I have a limp and couldn't afford a cane. A fucking white couple saw me and called the cops and told them I was walking "with a rifle" and was "very threatening". I got DAMNED lucky that a Light horseman found me first and told me what happened. Laughed a little. Told me not to worry about it, he'd call it in as bogus, and have a talk with the couple. But again. I was lucky. If that had been a state cop and not a rez one, I could have been fucking shot. For walking.
Honestly, if you are not for the liberation of homeless people, if you are not for decriminalizing homelessness and all aspects of it, if you say things like, "now I support those people, but I wish I didn't have to see it, because it makes me uncomfy," you have swallowed the propaganda pill. Congrats. You were not immune to it and now you are sick with it.
The original rainbow flags flying at U.N. Plaza in San Francisco on Gay Freedom Day, 1978 | ph: Mark Rennie
These 40’ x 60’ flags were created by the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day decoration committee in 1978, for that year’s parade.
The project had a budget of $1000 in leftover funds, and took place on the roof of the gay community center, where the large strips of fabric were dyed with rock salt and hot water in trash cans. The dyeing process was lead by rainbow artist Lynn Segerblom (at the time going by the legal name Faerie Argyle Rainbow) and aided by many other members of the local LGBT community who stopped by in shifts, as the fabrics required constant agitation. The pieces were then rushed over to a nearby laundromat before being ironed and handed over to lead seamster James McNamara, who sewed both flags by hand, again with the help of other committee and community members such as Segerblom, Gilbert Baker, butch lesbian documentarian and historian Glenne McElhinney, Joe Duran, and McNamara’s partner Paul Langlotz.
The flag exploded in popularity after it’s unveiling in 1978, and a 7 stripe variation began being produced by Paramount Flag Company, Gilbert Baker’s employer, and Baker himself — though both omitted the hot pink fabric due to a lack of availability. In 1979, the flag was adapted into a six stripe variant by Baker, replacing indigo with the more readily available blue fabric and dropping turquoise in order to retain symmetry, and to look better when hung across the lamp posts of San Francisco’s Market Street that year.
Gilbert Baker spent the rest of his life promoting and popularizing the rainbow flag as a symbol of the community, later adding meaning to each stripe of the flag. Sex, life, healing, sunlight, nature, magic, serenity, and spirit. Baker would make one more adaptation before his passing in 2017 - a 9 striped variant with a lavender stripe, meant to symbolize diversity. He made 39 copies of this flag with the intention to fly them in San Francisco, for the 39th anniversary of the original rainbow flag.

Nader ( @abdalsalam2000 ) is a Palestinian teenager trying to raise money for his family of seven (parents, brothers, sister-in-law, niece, and nephew) to escape the genocide in Gaza.
He's been active on tumblr for a long while now, and was one of the first to have their campaigns vetted: #4 on the gazavetters list! His goal is €50,000 which would enable his family to travel to safety.
Nader has worked extremely hard to raise these funds--tirelessly initiating conversations with strangers on tumblr, building social relationships, and promoting his campaign. He's raised €46,122 so far.
I can't imagine how hard it must be to have worked so hard, for so long, under such brutal conditions. To be so close to raising the total funds you need (92% of the way there!) but because you are just €3,878 short, your family is still trapped.
Please help him raise the remaining 8%. After all of this, let it not be in vain.

obviously haaretz is haaretz and has a vested interest in maintaining the state of israel but it's still so fucking insane that half the headlines they publish if you tried to put out those stories in an american newspaper it would 1) immediately get killed by an editor 2) get you fired or 3) if somehow against all odds actually published would get you arrested and deported
you literally could not print this in an american publication. you say this on an american college campus and get hunted every single day for two years. to be fair they HAVE been sanctioned and cut off by the israeli government but like that does not change the fact that the new york times simply would not print these stories
