Hey! My friend and I really like the comic and we were wondering a couple things:
1) Are Dulcians mammals? It looks like they're really fluffy, which implies fur, and Milkshake & Cupcake appear to have breast tissue, which implies the ability to produce milk for offspring. But Dulcians also undergo parthenogenesis (basically asexual reproduction, what you see in lesbian lizards), which you only see in reptiles? Maybe we're thinking about this a bit too hard...
2) What are your future plans for the comic? We heard that the current version of the series on tapas won't be continued, so we were wondering if you were planning on taking it in a different direction somewhere else.
Thanks for all your hard work and time! We love the story and we're excited no matter what you decide to do with it :D
Thanks for the questions!
1) Dulcians are not easily classified as any kind of earth animal group, but they do have fur. Milkshake and Cupcake may appear to have breast tissue, but that's actually their chest fur (ala angel dust from Hazbin) since Dulcians only have tongues to eat with, milk from a teet would be impossible for babies to eat.
2) My future plans are to have it as a self-published graphic novel series that will come out yearly or twice a year depending on my motivation and ability to create it fast enough. Right now there are only printed versions of the comic, but I am intending on making an ebook that's much cheaper than the printed version on Amazon. I'm thinking about looking for a publisher, but for now I want to retain full creative control of the project.
Thank you for your kind words and still being excited! I want to reiterate that my choice to change directions had everything to do with trying to prioritize what's best for me and my life, and making Butterscotch into something I can make money off of is my first step in building my own career as a graphic novel author full time, and while I feel bad for having to put a paywall on my work, I'm really happy that people are understanding and supportive anyway. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
