Before I miss my Chance
Chapter 1
"Miss Sora..."
The voice feels far away, almost like it's underwater.
"Miss Sora..?"
A light groan escapes her lips as her eyes flutter slightly and her brows furrow lightly.
"Miss Sora!"
"Ah! W-what!?"
She yelps in a quiet tone.
"Were you paying attention to the class or were you taking a nap?"
"I..."
Her face flushes with red out of embarrassment and she lowers her head. Her heart pounds like it's about to burst out of her chest.
Sora lowers her voice to a whisper, still loud enough for the teacher to hear.
"I fell asleep..."
A sigh left the teacher's mouth.
"Just...pay attention next time Sora, or next time it's a call home."
Sora nods in response and the teacher turns to continue the lesson that Sora fails to focus on.
It was only a small mistake, but it felt like everyone in class would remember this moment.
"Everyone saw...they must have..."
She lifted her head, face still stained with a hint of blush. Looking around for any staring eyes, she noticed two pairs looking back at her.
One was soft and curious. Almost amused.
The other... sharp and impossible to ignore.
Reina.
Her gaze feels sharp enough to cut through the air. Her piercing blue eyes meet Sora's shy brown ones. Reina sees how frantic Sora's search for witnesses is. Her expression however, remained unreadable.
Sora's heart stopped for a moment. It was as if time had stopped when they locked eyes, however it was cut short by the sound of a muffled chuckle.
Sora quickly shifted her gaze to the board, trying to act focused. Her cheeks felt hot and a small bead of sweat trickled down her face. She clenched her over-sized sleeves in her palms, a sign of nervousness.
Her body stiffens. She glances back at Reina.
Is she still looking?
Her heart raced and she began to tap her foot.
What she thought would be the eyes of Reina looking back at her, was the perfect image of a diligent student. Reina was already focusing on the board, no longer looking at Sora.
Her foot ceased its tapping and instead, she found herself lost in Reina's image. Although the teacher spoke during the lesson, all that Sora could hear was the increase in pace of her heart.
She was glad Reina had stopped looking. But deep down, she wished the moment lasted longer.
"Reina..."
She thought to herself. Her mind rambled on, overthinking the situation. Her face grew even redder just thinking about her.
Reina, someone Sora admired for the longest time.
Reina was the most beautiful girl she had ever seen. Her eyes were a piercing light blue, almost like ice, and her hair was long and an alluring black.
Reina was also smart, popular and the creator of the most popular messaging app "SR". It was used by most students in their school, including Sora.
There was more to Sora's feelings towards Reina, but she couldn't conjure the words to express it.
Sora quickly pulls out her phone. Her fingers hover over the screen, hesitating.
Then she opens SR.
There's already a new message waiting for her reply.
From Rei.
