5 tricks for using BuzzTale to boost employee engagement at company events
So you want to get all your employees at an internal meeting participating, not just the usual “microphone hogs”? BuzzTale, a tool that boosts employee engagement and builds stronger corporate culture by turning employees into content creators and storytellers, also does just that.
Here are 5 tips to get everyone on board using BuzzTale:
On the BuzzTale website, create a group under the company name and upload the company’s logo. Next, open the BuzzTale app on your iPhone or Android phone, login and start the event story. I know, I know, the event is still a few days away, but that’s why we’re starting now. Write an appropriate title, assign the story to your company group and set visibility and contributors to “Group only”. This will make the story visible only to those people who you will invite to the group.
Finally, add some pre-event content to the story. Maybe a teaser for the event to get the participants intrigued and excited? We find that adding photos of preparations, colleagues, and information about the event is great. Be creative.

2. Head honchos set the tone
Find a champion or two in your company who will actively use BuzzTale and inspire others to get on board. As always, a personal message from the boss makes a different, and this direct, informal internal communication will get participants on board.
Send out an internal message about BuzzTale to the people who are going to be participating in the event. Explain that your company is going to be using it and how to get started. Send the message 1-2 days before the event so people have time to register and join the story.
Soon after sending out the internal message invite your colleagues to the company group. Open www.buzztale.com, go to your profile, click “My Groups”, then select the company group and then click “Members”. Click the “Invite Members” button and simply add the email addresses of all the participants. They will receive an invitation email from BuzzTale. Once they register they will be able to join the story and start adding content right away.

4. The power of visual storytelling
Visual content such as photos and videos are key to driving engagement especially in the corporate world where employees spend most of their day dealing with email. You know how enticing that visual content is on Facebook and Instagram - apply the same thinking for internal corporate communications.

5. Keep control of the content
Moderation is useful when running stories with many participants. Despite the best intentions, sometimes an unwanted image or text may appear in the story. To moderate it, go to www.buzztale.com, login, and open the story. Click the “moderate” button and then tick the box that says “moderated story”. Hover your mouse over a block to show/hide it or simply moderate by showing/hiding all content from specific users. Note that if you make the story moderated, then everyone who joins the story will need to be approved before their content shows up in the story.
Following these tricks will help you engage everyone at the event and create a memorable story. If you’re preparing for a company event and would like to use BuzzTale or need help and advice in getting going, feel free to contact us at [email protected].
